rigid snow

why is that an issue

austere star
severe path
rigid snow
#

hhhhhhhhhh

austere star
severe path
austere star
#

Killing the port is relatively harmless from a safety standpoint, but having a battery terminal this close means the water can bridge the gap and cause unpredictable weird behaviour

#

Worst case scenario, magic smoke generator

rigid snow
#

it'll just corrode the gnd terminal in the port

#

surely

severe path
#

I guess it depends on how its wired. If it is particularly bad, it might just torch itself, instead of lighting a torch.

austere star
#

The port dying will just be emotionally painful, not a safety hazard

sick owl
austere star
#

Anyway, i really don't like it, but 9 year old me would love it

rigid snow
#

it'll just discharge slowly

umbral thorn
severe path
# rigid snow not with water

It might short out the battery, which will cause it to discharge. Most batteries will have a safety feature to prevent this, but the water might actually bypass it from sheer proximity.

If it sparks from discharging too fast, it might cause a chain reaction. The new electrical fire will keep conducting electricity, keeping itself going.

sick owl
rigid snow
#

point i'm making is it won't discharge too fast

sick owl
#

I mean it's a 3.7 volt USB C AA battery from a random Chinese torch

severe path
rigid snow
#

also aren't battery controllers like the cheapest silicon ever

#

also it should already have a charging controller

#

which do have safety features keep forgetting it's 3.7v supposedly

severe path
#

Its hard to know for sure what will happen, but it still doesn't look good for safety.

rigid snow
#

which would mean it's possible for it to be directly connected to the cell

#

the 3.7 in aa form factor spooks me out far more

If Meta was in the business of electronic arson, this is almost certainly something they would come up with.

#

i remember i used to charge 18650s manually by just dumping 5v straight into them and disconnecting them once in a while to check the voltage. kinda sad i didn't blow my hand off maybe i would have learnt something

austere star

rigid snow

austere star
#

That reminds me

#

Does anyone here have experience with old intel atoms

#

Asking because it's currently all i have left to run my home server after somehow had all my DDR3 memory die in a single week

#

The only thing I'm worried about is whether it'll be able to run an mpd server without transcoding any of my music

#

I'm seeing a lot of conflicting info online, with people saying any network activity with mpd will run it to the ground, and others saying it works just fine

severe path
#

You should try it, and see what happens. It might actually work decently well

austere star
#

I've been procrastinating because i have like 30 gigs of music last i checked

#

The netbook doesn't have gigabit, so it's gonna take forever to load up

severe path
#

I don't have an Intel Atom, so I can't answer the question in earnest.

austere star
#

Oh well, I'll keep y'all updated

In philosophy, mathematics, and computer science, a tuple is an ordered list of elements. The term tuple originates from the sequence of names for such ordered lists, beginning with single, double, triple, and so forth (see table below: 0 to 1000-tuple). The specific name of a tuple depends on the number of elements it contains, typically indica...

In mathematics, a tuple is a finite sequence or ordered list of numbers or, more generally, mathematical objects, which are called the elements of the tuple. An n-tuple is a tuple of n elements, where n is a non-negative integer. There is only one 0-tuple, called the empty tuple. A 1-tuple and a 2-tuple are commonly called a singleton and an ord...

NixOS Asia

A problem with the default NixOS configuration.nix generated by the official installer is that it is not “pure” and thus not reproducible (see here), as it still uses a mutable Nix channel (which is generally discouraged). For this reason (among others), it is recommended to immediately switch to using [[flakes]] for our NixOS configuration....
