so this monitor is actually better than i thought it was
or i guess its more fair to say there is more tech behind making it this good as i thought
apparently my monitor claims 0.03 ms GTG (gray to gray)
that's wild
thats the 27GL850, i have 3x 27GP850
i was just linking an article to mention the 1ms thing
im surprised i accidentally got it that close to your exact model
it's not
oleds are about 0.3ms
you are looking too much at the marketing specs
i think the gl doesnt have black frame insertion either so it also improves on that
and the ultragear IPS are like 3ms
that's why i said claims
I have no clue if my current main or upcoming secondary monitor are actually any good
i think monitor and mouse/keyboard are not that important
i odnt think its that high, but its def not sub ms
i think you're wrong
depends what transition
total is about 5ms.. but I think 0 to 80% is more fair
just dont get $10 crap and its alright
the real measurement for this thing
this is a VA, btw
competitive to IPS in the middle/bright areas... falls a bit behind on dark areas
ye but besides that, i do think there is a noticeable difference between resolutions and refresh-rate and latency and colour accuracy and hdr and polling rate and the materials it is made from and the weight and the power usage and ...
it will probably not cost you any time
having less beautiful red
or more frames
i specifically included the gray to gray thing becaause all that means is that theyre not measuring the actual entire response, theyre only measuring a part of it, so iykyk
you mean latency vs refresharate?
cuz if you want a higher refreshrate you need to cut down the latency
i mean
you mean?

they are not mutually exclusive anyways, better colour and better responsiveness
im kinda like not using my monitor to compile programs
yeah but instead of spending +$200 on monitor you can spend +$200 on gpu for example
i usually dont buy my monitor at the same time as the PC
isnt it all just fancy stuff for no real profit
i alread have a 3090, and god knows im not buying a single 40 or 50 series card
I'm not sure that's available with the newer methodology
yes, I'd like 0 to 80%, that'd be awesome
or I just didn't look enough
these still work
"profit" you sound like you have no joy or whimsy in your life
live a litle, have more than 30fps monitor. have the brightness actually be bright
quality of life
roomba for scale ig
these monitors are older than you sam
and they are also my favourite monitors of all time still
dell 2007fp
$500 back in the day
you are probably right
damn i should buy a roomba too
Screen Size: 20.1 inches
Aspect Ratio: 4:3
Native Resolution: \(1600\times 1200\) pixels
Maximum Resolution: \(1920\times 1200\) pixels
Response Time: 16ms
Contrast Ratio: 800:1
Brightness: 300 cd/m²
for 2007 thats probably fine
It's from 2006
car model years innit
i have no point of reference so to me all those specs just suck compare to my monitors
i think i literally just posted this recently but
ah was it ok
also just noticed
the fabled flash drive
aka the maybe bitcoin one lol
it's weird because even though they do suck mega ass it doesnt look anywhere near that dramatic when they're like
next to each other
yo hi
i thought i would'nt encounter you there
anyways am going to bed
gn
and gl
heyo
i just come and go
Make sure that your floor and flat is fit for that. I had one in another flat, and I have almost never used it. Why? Because running with a broom was faster
My flat’s floor was really not made for dry cleaning like that, so I would have to clean it with a broom after the roomba did it anyways. So I’ve just figured that I may skip waiting for a clanker to fail at its job and jump to cleaning immediately.
I should probably get another one for this flat because it could use some regular automated dust cleaner
i thought the idea of roomba is that it can clean every day
Yeah, but I didn’t get as much dust back then as I do now.
its not very flat, i have 2 big carpets in 2 rooms
Flat, as in, the space. Your apartment, if you will
You will probably have to move these all the time though. I had some long curtains and a few chairs, and the roomba couldn’t get off of them
ohhhhh
hell no then
i thought they can deal with carpets
i was thinking it working while im out at work for example
Varies by carpet, I suppose. I don’t have a carpet that wouldn’t be a challenge for a roomba
Yeah! You can automate it and even see its activity remotely
You should remember that you will have to empty the roomba every day or two though
el psy kongroo
@obsidian mantle the new new ones are a bit different than this
even than the one i got and that was only like 2-3 years ago
if you go ultra spency there's one from roborock with an arm on it that can pick up stuff like shoes and put them where you want it to do that
like robot wars lmao
and the cleaning bases are like
60-80 days "theoretically" cuz they empty the bin and swap the water
and yea there's mops now
on the same unit
not #ad i was just looking at this earlier and it's "half off" but still $1300 so i wa slike damn it better be a butler
lol the arm is so funny to me
agi achieved
this thing is so cool wtf
that's what im saying ive been pogging and i cant find any others with the arm or anything
base is nromal, the mop is fairly standard now
some of them can climb a fair bit
dangit, at first i thought eufy had managed to put out a carpet cleaning one
but it just comes with a mini carpet cleaner for YOU to use
but im not a robot i cant clean
speaking of roombas
i've seen so many people got attached to theirs and its sort of heartwarming

Again???
@olive sable we got some cool crap thats bouta happen
im just about done the modeling, some parts are quite done but its about 90-95% done
just some mounting hardware needed to finish up on
what is that

that is the whole changelog

why would you need a changelog
or anything besides agent hq, really
sounds like a distraction from the new copilot features

agreed
definitely reliable 100% of the time
also ngl I wish agent hq had a standardized api or smth so it's not just limited to copilot or codex
get vscodium, might be better
get nvim
r
I spent 8+ hours to configure nvim from 0
LTS
my LSP is still works randomly
unstable repository
The one I had most trouble was the conversion from the lsp-config to the new vim.lsp.config + active
I was like, wha
notlua caught that
(also why kotlin LSP stinks so much)
its a dsl for writing lua code in nix
i use it for nvim configuration
and it checks my code
oh I'm currently skipping nix completly
get wheel

wow it's sam

Oh even worse. Since I'm using direnv everywhere, LSP is yelling that the server binaries are not executable
lovely
I'm not going to replace rider anytime soon...
Cause they are not on PATH
they are added when I enter the directory in terminal
cause of direnv + nix flake
After playing with it a bit, I feel comfortable saying Google Antigravity is by far the nicest VScode agentic fork thingy I've toyed with
I prefer it to github copilot and cursor
Maybe not cline but cline will also bankrupt you
Haven't tried codex mind
Can anyone evaluate my PC build?
Processor (CPU): AMD Ryzen 5 7500F OEM (AM5, 6 cores/12 threads, 3.7–5.0 GHz, 65W, L3: 32MB)
Graphics Card (GPU): Palit GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER Dual (12GB, GDDR6X, PCIe 4.0)
Motherboard: ASRock B650M Pro RS WiFi (AM5, Micro-ATX, DDR5)
RAM: ADATA XPG Lancer Blade 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5-6000 CL30
SSD: ADATA LEGEND 960 MAX 1TB NVMe PCIe 4.0
Power Supply (PSU): MONTECH GAMMA II 750W Gold
CPU Cooler: ID-COOLING SE-224-XTS Black
Case: MONTECH AIR 1000 PREMIUM Black
I do wonder how much of this is the actual software vs gemini 3 pro just being really nice though
in this economy?
Reasonable I would say
Though too little of everything for my needs
weird choice of cpu, is there a reason for it over something like a 7600x?
Well
does seem to say 7500F is basically a cheaper 7600
I don't know, @true hemlock can confirm himself probably

We will provide free autocomplete inference for existing customers for the foreseeable future.
7500f is MUCH cheaper for no performance difference
how much did you paid for it btw? seems pretty good
I don't know how much it costs in the US or anywhere else, but here it costs about $1,500.
Supermaven gone

oh well, was practically dead for the past year or so anyway
oh pretty decent, what country?
and when was it built/bought
We doing 3rd number increments now I guess

Hi, I had serious question about Unity. if it fine with you guys.

So notepad is now bloatpad
just another thing for windows 11 to use even more RAM then it already does for no reason
support for markdown tables is pretty nice at least
tru
notepad is bowlpad
They'll fix it by making it 5FPS instead
do you need 20k fps and whistles in notepad
yes thats where i play doom
how am i support to port abandoned archive into notepad if microsoft keeps fucking up the notepad game engine

Already mogs Gemini 3 Pro lmao
It and GPT 5.1 both just treated it like a regular maze and tried flood fill and BFS
what maze
I need help. I need a safe for work copy pasta for some testing related to string manipulation.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called Linux, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.
There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called Linux distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux!
hmmm, that would be a good one too. The pirates told me to use lorum ipsum, which isn't fin at all.
Thanks!
cost though
I have built a 3MiB linux iso, I feel too powerful
I've encouraged it to go acquire the tools it needs, we'll see how that pans out
oh does it think for a long time
64k tokens per response max

And since its in an agentic harness its also talking to itself
It is so damn smart though
No other model has actually tackled this problem properly like that
is it based entirely on text training data?
Its multimodal but this maze is unique and extremely visually complex and noisy
HOLY
lmao, I mean if it works it works I guess.
can't wait for an AI model to make and run malware on my pc because it halucinated something
oh wait, copilot comes with that feature already doesn't it.
Yup
About that, this was a paper released a few days ago by the lab that made this model
insert arguments and follow the code?
Its running in an agentic harness, meaning it has access to a sandboxed podman instance
ohh
If you're wondering about the antigrav I'm repurposing the folder I used to test that as a workspace for it
that doesnt sound quite right

I am being a little unfair tbh
That things a nightmare to parse for human eyes let alone a language model
yeah no im not solving that
there are places like these
A for effort, F for results
Getting warmer
To be clear the model didn't write "SOLVED!", the script did
The model is aware its not solved yet
it's a little confused, but it's nearly there
I can assure you that this is an required maneuver
it starts in the wrong place and it messes it all up
following the path requires you to be on the path from the start
just jumped down why not
it seems to have a faulty alrogorithm anyway
I think its because the image is fundamentally algorithm unfriendly
Stuff like this is so hostile to algorithms
I mean, it is
They usually just discount to a price they have it set to for 3+ months the rest of the year
Well I can tell ya several months back my monitor costed £150 more than this
You gotta wait until sale
Look at price history
I don't regret it mind the things great but its still annoying
Normal price $500
Black friday giga discount $800 $500
Doesn't seem to be the case here
I guess the discount is more like £50 over the prior best discount though
I got it at £689 which is still alright for a monitor that launched with an MSRP of 1k so I can't whinge too much
Not like I'm the one of the guys who bought for 1-1.6k
Loving the OLED, hope MicroLED is more mature by the time it craps out in five or so years though
Inorganic components are way, way better suited to display tech
In like every way
Hey hey hey
Dont set me out of my job here
Ding ding look at the pretty graphics
Btw, suddendly a lot of 3090s are available 2ndhand here for €550
Im geussing people are upgrading due to black friday
graphic pretty is when ambient occlusion real time ray traced global illumination rtx pbr material
sam building real engine
Just give me another couple months for the game to be somewhat ready for release, and then i can throw a bunch of graphics upgrades at it
3d modeling is a lot of work
gta san andreas epic custom map mod 2006
The perfectly flat is cuz im still working on it
why square
The perfectly square is cuz usa
it’s surrounded by water
reminded me of this gta sa mod that used to be very popular here
square map with roads by the perfectly straight coast
this is arguably better because it’s huge and you don’t really come across the corners
i think it’s like 2x the sa map?

Me when i take a big screenshot and feed it to gemini so i dont have to read every listing
I wonder if gemini can even read images this tall, lr will it get compressed?
Ye it gets compressed to shit
Just give it the webpage at that point lmao
I dont think its able to
In AI studio
I dont have ai studio
I see
MicroLED is so cool
just a little expensive and it requires large sizes to get high resolution
Okay so this is what claude is getting out of the maze in terms of structure huh
Oh btw @cosmic sphinx still not out of quota
Omg its gotten so much closer since I left it
Only took warming the planet by an extra degree
I mean its not close
But its closer

I LOVE SIMD
I'm working on adding VR support to my project. VR in Godot is both easier and harder than I expected.
Don't suppose anyone here is familiar with how to do it?
Specifically I can't figure out how to interact with a viewport for 3D menus or read direct inputs from the controllers
Why is it moving along the lines
Has anyone ever tried cooking bacon with their GPU?
I don't think you could get it nearly hot enough for that
Realistically the backplate isn't gonna go over 80C/176F with good heat transfer
That's only enough to keep cooked food food-safe
I guess if you don't mind waiting a couple hours it could work.
but not get crispy
you can take the heatsink off and run it off pcie cable for it to face up
and use the die to cook shit
or attach a small aluminum bowl on it with thermal paste
might actually try that ngl
boiling egg probably
thing is it only work decent on higher end cards with bigger die area
small die area with higher heat density won't do much and is riskier with hotspots
actually
i have a gtx 780 to spare for that

hey #programming did you hear there was an integer overflow damage value in AA already?
no way what?
damn I forgot I'm not in the AA discord
yo guys i need help with C++
saw it in the patch notes
im terrible at c++ but i can try to help
i cant send a pic but ill send you on dm
I'm good at C++ but don't want to use DMs
may be a hot take for some but
out of all 3 nvme, sata ssd and hdd i'd say sata ssd is the most pointless.
it cost barely any cheaper than nvme, slower than nvme because SATA protocol bottlenecks it and most importantly it has shit latencies.
HDDs, you get huge raw storage for it for medias for dirt cheap. i don't know why people shit on HDD more, its way more cost effective for huge storage compared to SATA SSD and you get good raw bandwidth on RAID setup regardless
all the SATA SSD shill seem to come from people who transitioned from HDD to SATA SSD back then before nvme existed so it makes sense back then but i don't think it makes any sense anymore nowdays. plus SATA SSD is only good if you for some reason need 8-16TB of storage for programs which i've never seen anyone actually do and at that point 2x 4TB nvme is more cost effective per performance.
Why can't we just stick with the regular captchas anymore smh
Better hot take:
TypeScript is superior to Python, I will stand by this until the day I die
Yup, but TypeScript is good
nuh uh

sata ssd only seem good because people that used it back in 2013 can't admit that its mid right now
I have 1 TB sata. its good if I want things accessed frequently, but not that fast
like dev projects
NVMe is used for OS
NVMe > SATA SSDs for sure, but having both have benefits
its good for storing projects that you can just load entirely to ram regardless
but pretty shit if you do frequent random I/O for some programs that uses this
well if you don't do random I/O all the time its fine
but well, nvme is not even more expensive nowdays so sata ssd still worth if bought years ago
just doesn't make sense rn
gen 3 nvme is cheaper than sata AFAIK
i use sata ssds instead of hdds on my server because
- only have sata connectors (its an sbc with limited io)
- pretty cheap all things considered (it was like $20-30 per tb)
- low power draw (again, sbc, it's literally powered off a phone brick)
- better data integrity (no mechanical wear and tear)
just checked, NVMe is 2x of sata /TB
ah, $20 per tb is hdd level price to capacity so that would make sense
I love SSDs in servers, much less liability problems + SMART gives you estimate over life
i gotta snatch a 4TB real fucking quick yeah
though proxmox claims 40% wear on SSD

they are going up so do it
elvyn is saving up for a 4TB herself with commissions
might wanna reserve one rq especially when i can get a decent 4TB TLC 7000MB/s for $220 rn
ah fuck it, bought
yee its a random chinese company but i use 3 of them in an array so im not worried about random failures
WHAT $220
pre inflation pricings
its $400 for me

except i have a connection for that in this inflation rn
shit maybe i should hoard more nvme
and sell it with maybe $10-$20 up price once the inflation hits
idgaf about profiting much though just wanna help people to get an nvme this way
im learning emacs currently
I was considering try that, cause I know someone who I can ask questions directly
imo nvim better to start with
its less overwhelming
emacs is good too but theres so many features its pretty unapproachable
and vim-style keybindings are way more useful to know than emacs keybindings
since every editor supports vim emulation
It is still a very big hurdle when naively want to migrate from a larger IDE
atleast I'm still struggling to setup simple things
also I dunno why, maybe I am the problem. WHY ARE THERE SO MANY OUTDATED THINGS FROM LESS THAN 6 MONTHS AGO
"oh here is LSP config" ok cool
does it
"DEPRECATED USE THIS" oh ok
uses it
*everything broken" cool
ye the lsp thing got everyone
i havent even gotten around to configuring lsp in emacs yet
[ERROR][2025-11-25 08:43:05] .../lua/vim/lsp.lua:496 "cannot start easy_dotnet due to config error: ...ovim-unwrapped-0.11.4/share/nvim/runtime/lua/vim/lsp.lua:485: cmd: expected expected function or table with executable command, got table: 0x7f91f2ee5e98. Info: dotnet is not executable"

its both
lua in nix
i designed this dsl a while ago i would've made way better nowadays
but it works so whatever
its still literally better than plain lua
lua wont get you type checking
Right now I would be content having a working LSP

that is why I completly ommited nix
also I use the config on work laptop (Windows) so I don't think i'll migrate
at the start I was like learn it without nix and then use it
oh your router is running nix?
yee ereader too
oh nice
and phone but i dont use a phone right now because battery died

router?
bpi-r3
even that barely is barely specced enough for nix
8gb storage and 1gb (i think) ram
its like the bare minimum
oh 2gb ram
thats slightly better
oooh nice
i still have to use zram swap
I was thinking of MAYBE switching out my Mikrotik to pfSense on my minipc but then I decided it was not worth it
ouch
pf is nice
never used pfsense
i have very specific routing needs and nix allows me to be confident i'll be able to use the same config on a different device
if your requirements are boring staying with boring software is the right choice
I WAS FUCK ED OVER BY MASON-LSPCONFIG
AAAA
OH COOL I did not know my keyboard has Shift+Fn+F1 = F13 capabilities
exception is if you love computers and want to learn more
or if you hate computers and want to learn more that works too
I just want to tinker with cool stuff and deepdive into shit
like I love my Mikrotik, but pfSense sounds cool to have
but then if something is wrong, I have to spend hours figuring out the fix
which would not be nice without internet access
you can also check out http://openbsdrouterguide.net/ i liked it
except seems dead on my end so check web archive maybe
tbh hence why I want to do neovim from 0 instead of using something like LazyVim or Zed
works on my end, so DNS
probably just firefox
will be a nice read
curl works
I'm using floorp
huh

im this -| |- close to installing an arch distrobox and just install shit on there
WOHO
easy-dotnet deadlocks my vim if I change project folder

Tbf pop_OS worked fine, I just had a weirdly annoying graphical issue where the desktop smeared. I think my AMD gpu is just dying idk.
So ehhh I’ll just wait till I get a real desktop*
I might be picking up either a ROG Ally or a cheapo desktop soon it depends
There’s a dude selling a gaming desktop for 400 bucks be he isn’t responding >:[
yeah no, it's cooked
@sick owl are we cooking!?
seriously, though, when would they be logically dropping 3.0 flash? if it's ready, it's likely a week after 3.0 pro, to separate the hype between the models.
another option, somewhere in december, if it's not complete
or, if the performance of the model is not significant enough, they might not even release it, and just go straight for 3.5 atp
eee
where's chayleaf 6? is it still in beta?
yeah fair enough

https://github.com/fsharp/emacs-fsharp-mode/blob/c0f4df474731bf1a75735af121ea47e9238ccb88/eglot-fsharp.el
why does it download fsautocomplete instead of rely on system packages

emacs is about as jank as i expected
i really like some of its features just dont have the time to setup it fully
chat is this dumb

i hate seeing the long wall of imports on my main code
so i just put this in one import file
yes, dunno if python has import specific logic, but it might break something
it does work i tested it
but the issue is i dont have dropdowns
so i kinda have to memorize the needed objects
so you already encountered a big issue with this approach
of course it works
atleast i dont see a wall of imports
imports are just objects
why are you looking at them
pretty sure I have 100s of files with like 30+ imports
this just looks ugly to me
better approach
import os
import sys
import io
import modules
print(modules.os.listdir())
i dont have this issue with c++
half of those are unused, of course its ugly
true
tho i think i'll use most of them
and I find this anti-productive, as if you need to use a language which does not support this kind of import, you are essentially screwed
since you relied on this pattern
nyope reexports are pretty universal across languages
I never seen that in C#, Java, Kotlin or other compiled languages
Nono, I'm just stating what I personally find wrong with this approach
Either they are marked as global packages or you reference them. Never seen that you can just reference the package as-is when imported
its a thing in js, rust, haskell, ocaml, and a whole lot of other languages
not being able to reexport stuff just means your module system is lacking
js: everything is an object
haskell: everything is a monad
rust: no idea, why is that a thing???
since its pretty important for module encapsulation
Why would you want to re-export an already imported package?
Would it make sense to just use those imported packages in the specific use-case area?
atleast for me it just doesnt look clean
if you have a module it may define a lot of functions in submodules and expose some common ones on a top level
im the type to hide all the mess in one closet
or it may import internal modules and expose some of their parts publicly
its a pretty common pattern
Wouldn't delegating a function specficially for that internal function be better? In case the internal function changes, you can migrate the module safely without concern about breaking referencing entites
if the internal module changes, thats just a module implementation detail
I LOVE TRAITS
the top level module changes as well because it relies on implementation details
I might too OOP minded to see the benefit of re-exporting modules
no its literally just encapsulation
think of a getter that originally returned one property but then started returning some other property while preserving the same public interface
thats what reexports can be
really reexports are just an (on purpose) limited form of constructing compile time objects (modules) out of other compile time objects
well, not so limited in python/js
Ok now I'm fundamentall confused, the change you described with the getter does not make any sense for me in the case of modules
as that would either be override or breaking change in my mind
I do not see the "module encapsulation" happening
I think I do not approach this from the correct angle
pseudocode
// module a
fn print_x() {
print("x");
}
// top-level
pub import a::print_x as do_stuff;
// then change
// module a
fn print_y() {
print("y");
}
// top-level
pub import a::print_y as do_stuff;
what i meant is just that reexports dont prevent you from providing a consistent interface they just allow you to structure your code in more flexible ways
damn, new version of 🍃 released
Is that reexport? Isn't that just a normal export/import pattern?
thats called a reexport yes
when you export something you imported
In my mind this is reexport:
import util from 'util';
export default {
util: util
};
//OR
export default {
somefunction: () => {},
...util
}
but those two function are not reexports, unless you export print_x and print_y
still reexport since you just change the name
if you were to write a wrapper that wouldnt be a reexport ye
Is it though?
you are exporting a new thing that is just using the other import values, you are not exporting the imported one
you are exporting the same thing
renaming it doesnt change what it is
and even without the ability to change the name its still very useful for code organization
Hmm interesting. Personally I wouldn't call that reexport, as you are most likely using that as a way to shadow / limit access to some tool.
For example:
//FileA.js
export somefunction(type: string) {
...
}
//FileB.js
import { somefunction } from "./FileA.js";
export class MyClass {
runWithTypeA() {
somefunction("A");
}
runWithTypeB() {
//Setup before B
somefunction("B");
}
}
Though I think it depends on the purpose?
this isnt reexport because you arent exporting somefunction as is ye
yeah if I were to do to
export class MyClass {
...
runWithType(type: string) {
somefunction(type);
}
}
it is reexport, kind of
no this still isnt reexport
because you're wrapping it
js has export ... from ... for reexports
Wait, then this is not reexport either then
it is because you're just exporting what you imported
so this was correct in my assumption that you reexport things as-is
you import print_x and then you export it
is there something i could explain?
implied by pub yeah
my pseudocode notoriously hard to understand since i know a billion languages
nah it is fine, I wanted to wrap my head around
increasing temptation to try and rewrite a bunch of dns records into something like terraform rules
but I know that's a dangerous idea
because noone will want to use terraform

can you rewrite it in rust?
I would get assasinated if I tried to use nix for this

already having doubts about using terraform or something similar because its not just logging in and doing stuff
people have to spend a few minutes reading doccumentation instead of using the pretty ui
i wouldnt use any automation unless its a task that has to be redone often
ye imperative server config can be annoying
alongside like 50 random dns records with no docs
"but if you don't use ubuntu then how will other people install stuff"
that's the point
you don't
idk I sorta want to get talked out of moving our Ubuntu stuff into either entirely docker compose or entirely nixos
because on one hand I am sick of having a bunch of undocumented stuff
but on the other hand it "works"
ig the biggest issue is people will just take the path of least resistance
in this case being "I want to make a DNS record so I open the cloudflare account" rather than "I want to make a DNS record so I edit the terraform file and apply it"
Nixos container
I may get exploded
does it have enough airflow
probably needs more fans
it feels a bit cramped in 'ere don't you tink
who the fuck mounts a PSU like that
but it's supposed to mount like that i suppose
from the fact that gpu is mounted the same way
does it not have special chamber for hard drives and psu behind the motherboard
Where the wires go
yeah thats what id assume
Weird case
Narnia
Its huge but empty
yeah its weird apparently full towers are just like that
My full tower has this

Maybe i got some extra wide full tower
I'm also worried that if I try I'll do something half baked
Idk
and like, whilst everything is currently broken
I don't want it to get even more broken
If it works dont touch it mhm
Although im more annoyed that the AIO numbers is mounted incorrectly and the fucking motherboard is an Matx~
Like thats literally a 4090.
You cant afford a bigger motherboard deadass?
if youre gonna go full power
Atleast max it the fuck out
Weird ass case
Looks like it meant to hold several GPUs
Or the right was originally a rack for drive mounts
That's just your average full tower case tbf
Anything to knock up the prices
If you're just going to put a standard motherboard with a single GPU in it then yeah, kind of a waste
I hope so, will be a nice convenience on my phone
Atleast its kind of future proofed
Yeah like I said closer but not close
I need to finally finish my website
A few streamers and credits have it linked but it just leads to an unfinished landing page for the past few months
I keep getting sidetracked
I learned about Figma from chrchie so im debating on using it as a way of improving and practicing front end designing because I suck at it
New secondary monitor got
Show
Wa
Whatever this is
asus then
i need to replace 2 of my monitors
well technically 3
my main one is good but the other 2 need to go
I got a new one because the old one broke
from my experience people who touch figma for the first time with no prior design experience end up creating abysmal dogshit that makes me want to gouge my eyes out with a screwdriver
my old 2 are 2k while my main one is 1080p and running 240hZ
and then they get offended that i’m mad
I now have 1440p 165 + 1080p 165
looked simple enough seeing her do it
she does it for a job without programming
i mean you can try
Hopefully it makes Xorg happy
i didn't translate one heading oops
does not matter
love the 2022-2022
(this is not mine btw, i didn't make this)
forgot to translate

like how there's just one piece of text in another language in a random place
i translated it

1000 degree knife vs text

text 1000 to knife to
text "knife" to 1000
how expensive is the knife
what’s the market value of the knife being given away
free also
no
ye not worth
Opus 4.5 in cc is so cracked, loving this thing
what’s the curse
knife
that’s not unique to that knife
wrong
all knives are knife

now ask opus to write memory safe C code
knife curse says no
why must these config files be 9 years old

temptation to nuke is unreal
but alas I must not
they don’t have an image model
so no they didn’t
that’s the joke
good
analog computing, the most successful way of computing
is docker compose swarm any good
it looks like a reasonable midground between full blown k8s and managing invidivual docker installs
brainworm wants to manage every host with nix

i also want the windows server gone
banished in fact
me more brainworm make nix but better
manage all hosts with lix

The Thinking Game takes you on a journey into the heart of DeepMind, capturing a team striving to unravel the mysteries of intelligence and life itself.
Filmed over five years by the award winning team behind AlphaGo, the documentary examines how Demis Hassabis’s extraordinary beginnings shaped his lifelong pursuit of artificial general intel...
the
game
can I get the latest stable release of chayleaf?

Stable release
Can i make that joke?

I think the valve lawyers fucking killed him
always bet on nothing
or ragebait
Half life 3 was/is in production, i know that much. The problem is if valve is going to finish and release it
I do hear people say it might get announced at the game awards. I think its cope tho
The leaks about valve working on a "HLX" project are true at the very least. The extra stuff added to the source engine clearly shows it.
it's supposedly out of production and has been for quite some time
i've heard it was already being playtested like in april or some shit
The HLX stuff being added to slurce was in 2021
So its possible
Playtesting does not directly mean its out of production tho
But it does mean that there is a mostly playable part of the game already
the "playtesting" i'm referring to does mean that with valve
well it's mostly out of production by then
Does it tho?
There are still changes being found to HLX in the source engine datamines even in the latest 30okt 2025 datamine. So its not finished yet
These recent updates included:
An expanded damage group system for non-humanoid enemies.
An asynchronous particle simulation system that interacts with wind.
New asset groups labeled "science".
Particle stuff is fine to see in later changes. But asset groups dont indicate a release date in the next 6 months to me
look, this stuff is datamined from deadlock/dota/cs2 updates. these are presumably changes that get pushed upstream from the hlx branch and end up merged and shipped. we don't know what gets merged when
also, these get merged on accident
well, mostly
most of this stuff wasn't supposed to leak
same things happens to all valve games. the most recent game that failed this playtesting stage that we know of was neon prime
Asset groups might very well just be a new group for existing assets tho
they had a registered trademark for neon prime too
like it was ready ready
then people said it looked like shit and they completely redid the art style
and is now called deadlock
I do wonder what neon prime looked like
it's public
1sec
A long-ish video of when Deadlock was called Neon Prime and when the art style and map were different, other then that I can see that the gameplay formula...
So a lot more futuristic i guess
ye cyberpunk
If i had to geuss based on the source engine still getting new stuff merged accidentaly, and the playtesting already happening supposedly.
Rn they're doing optimization and bug fixes
Either that, or they didnt like the results of the playtesting and are redoing some stuff
WTF
this build is from april 2024
by beginning of may they already started sending out invites to deadlock
that's insane
yeah no i don't believe this
april 2023 maybe
Where are you even getting that date from?
what's neon prime?
comment from march 2023:
People claim it's IceFrog's next game with Valve. Though no clue if it's DOTA-related or not.
so i guess they are not wrong
icefrog being the balance guy for dota
and deadlock/neon prime being MOBA
ok nixos side tangent may have been succesfully diverted
the endpoint management software my uni uses doesn't support nixos

so I guess I'll just move everything over to ubuntu or something
Tell them to use a different one mhm, that surely wouldn't have any side effects
surely I can just ask that
I don't wanna use ubuntu :c
only alternatives we seemingly have are amazon linux, oracle linux, debian, rehl, centos, alma, rocky, suse
DIY; you gotta do it yourself you fool!
-Tatsu
though we seeminly have 2 fedora servers despite fedora not being supported
debian is a no-brainer ye?
why would you want anything from that list over debian
especially ubuntu when it’s just debian bloat edition
alma
you could potentially use ubuntu but then just layer baisc nix on top of it no?
or even use usermode linux to run nix-os
guys do y'all have idea what I broke inside my thinkpad, my thinkpad internal speaker keeps having static noise, no matter of volume, it will just do noise for just having speaker on. I replaced today speaker with new one, same issue, happens on battery too
can you physically detatch some usb hubs inside of the thinkpad?
Sometimes things like that are connected with some wires and are separatable
Also can try installing different os just to test if its os problem
Or maybe even boot from flashdrive because is a test
And another wild advice: if there are some non-isolated parts on wires connecting speaker to motherboard, try touching those with fingers to see if something changes
I had a cheap mic which got weird background noise, and when i did that - noise completely disappeared because the body grounds the electric noise. Not sure it works for speakers though.. but maybe?
Either something is leaking or drivers problem or both speakers are broken it seems
Also can try running it without battery at all, wire-only
You will need fresh drivers for that os too
debian has quite the nix install script, I think nix itself can convert from an ubuntu/debian install if you want to go nuclear.
that sounds evil considering I'd literally jsut want to use nixos to config docker
I wonder how many pounds of cheese you can cook with 1 data center's worth of heat emission per day
It must be at least 10 tons

my brain when i exist:

after days of debugging i wrote 3 lines of code that fixed the issue
