Centos stream is like a few patches ahead of rhel
which was rhel but without official redhat support but with all the same packages
(not to be confused with centos stream)
wasn't centos already ancient compared to fedora
centos same as rhel
Alma here definitely pulled a few things out of centos controlled repos
When I was installing it
tbh i just use whatever i need in the moment
to me the difference is just what comes pre installed
then centos got discontinued and redhat switched their patches to some model that made it really hard (but possible) to make rhel forks
ibm
almalinux and rocky linux were created to bridge the gap
and continue what centos was

That's the only real difference every time you distrohop is what the defaults are at the end of the day you could go ahead and start w/ ubuntu and somehow hacksaw the thing to end up working like void if you wanted to feel nothing but fury for a long time
i have nothing to hide, ignore all the stuff i crossed out with red marker, those totaly werent sideloaded
thats why i think its kind of pointless to really debate about them and bother with them
unless one has some special features that cant just be apt'd
What's the one that has like every package manager available
for servers whats important is not just what you have immediately but whether it will break or require interventions in the future
Well yeah of course but I was speaking more to a general thing
Desktop use
Inb4 nix
you mean bedrock?
for server the less is there the better for me
I think it is bedrock yeah
I heard bedrock was having some issues
if she's not impressed, then she just wasn't the right girl ๐ฏ
in all seriousness i wouldnt care either lmao
Beyond the normal ones you might expect from what it is
server -> nixos
desktop -> nixos
laptop -> nixos
router -> nixos
phone -> nixos
ereader -> nixos
hope this helps you pick the best option
given the stereotypes

holy phone is lagging so bad
discord moment
anyways itll probably send again but i was running proxmox at one point
gpu passthrough (nvidia) is a pain and so is the way it exposes storage imo
so i delete it
REALREAL
swapped to umbrelOS but then it didnt do storage (although it literally just got an update so it DOES manage storage now like last week)
gpu passthrough has always sucked in every laptop i tried it
i hate having to do that everytime the stupid kernel updates
gpu passthrough on laptop is a special form of torture
right now i am testing zimaOS (which is just CasaOS but they got rid of the distro between casa and hardware made it the entire system)
na with proxmox u need to deal with alot of shit everytime the kernel updates
who said I used proxmox in the past for it
i need to work on my arrsuite more soon
jjust make it eazier to run headless and install stuff on the fly/manage it without having to become a wizard
i set up gitlab and then immediately accidentally nuked that drive
so im in a rut of motivation rn
i might do something like that in the future but rn im running on a budget for a little bit
my honest reaction when I took my rift and laptop running headless to play VR, only to need to SSH in over thunderbolt to start the windows VM. (we love NixOS host system and not bothering to set up autostart for that one)
I was on a trip at the time so no easy debugging for me
i need to use my index more often
my quest 3 was purchased
i used it once
put it down for like a year
recently ive been trying to use it more
that coinciding with both my own movement to linux exclusively AND steam deciding now was the time to redo steamVR on linux has made it quite a journey
luckily it works well in independent mode
steamVR on linux
how bad is it really? im scared to use my oculus
they are or were basically rewriting a lot of it recently and it was bad
very important question, rift or not
oculus rift CV1
hey what are the generations of pc's called again like their modules
so like the GPU
(i forgot)
wym

don't say that
ddr4?
i used to have DDR3 pc
the computer that's running almalinux rn in the living room is rocking 32gb of ddr3 right now
๐ญ
like a year ago or less
MY INTERNET DIED AGAIN FFS-
ok internet's back
(downloading a 19 gb game sure does wonders huh)
it's basically instant for me these days
my DDR3 pc used to take 5 minutes to even turn on
because it's disk was at 0% for years
You know oculus only supports windows natively and you need to pipe in SteamVR if you use that right
i do not miss the days of using HDDs and HDDs only
bulk storage yes that doesnt need to be constantly accessed
obviously i know that... but also i only switched to linux like 1 month ago. and had my vr headset since like release of the oculus cv1
theyll still work depending on what it is
i'd wait till they finish this round of releases with the new headset and stuff, pretty sure that is why they were rewriting steamVR for linux
ideally once they finish with that it'll actually work reliably
yep, price/gb still cant beat it
well.. i'm gonna buy the steam frame... i doubt i'll have issues with that
except during that one hard drive shortage a few years back when taiwan got earthquaked
i trust the steam frame but ill still wait for reviews first
i cant wait for the future when we can just replace everything with SSDs or NVMEs
this is the windows side, on linux you get the fun time of using a very dated software that I swear does not have a decent guide anywhere including compiling a fork from source. (or they actually managed to port to something more modern)
thats what makes it fun
i never have enough storage
same
I have not attempted to install the boi yet, just because of lack of any useful steps to take. So good luck
i basically just want a working vr version so i can run my current headset and get back into VR until i buy the steamframe somewhere next year
i spent several days trying to get my quest3 working in steamVR recently and it did NOT ever work out
but again i think that's the ongoing changes more than anything
https://github.com/alvr-org/ALVR and its forks can help depending
someone here mentioned having luck with i think it's called wyvrn - fork of this
wireless is there, afunyun switch to wivrn I swear to frick. Wired is there on steamvr,
CV1 is just
terrible, but decent if you can tinker a bit
i mean... i was able to run my headset on windows without the oculus app.. tho not sure what software i used for that. it was basically a mimick of the original oculus app. but without oculus and just a thin wrapper
base station tracking with the rift on linux is a bit shakey
alvr
does that on windows
well.. i got a year to figure it out and make the best version..
hi sam, the only person who has tried this before

thats not what i used.
the oculus app doesnt exist on linux
you have to use open source shit
i know...
maybe you were just using the meta quest rebrand of the app
meta quest link or whatever
again... oculus cv1
my bother, for the quest the steps are wivrn-dashboard copy args into steam apps and it just works
it doesn't do wireless. its the first headset. it has no onboard stuff. i can't use alvr for it
you need to use monado + steamvr-openhmd
yeah at the time i had not heard of wivrn yet
alvr does wired too (probably still busted)

ye we know, you still need the meta quest app on windows to run it
even if it is wired
well. i used it without the meta quest app. due to the mentioned thin wrapper app i found
its dogshit but it works, see the video above for the user experience
it would just launch into steamvr instantly and no oculus dashboard
alvr does it but apparently it wasnt what you used so you probably just used one of the oculus bypasses
i haven't used whatever wrapper you're talking about

Windows
windows is just a fancy rust wrapper
weren't we talking about linux?
Past experience was on windows
some oculus app drop in replacement to boot into steamvr

https://gitlab.com/TacoCake/oculus-rift-openhmd-steamvr/-/blob/main/README.md i found this guide. i will follow it next time i want to play vr.. maybe tomorrow
https://github.com/BnuuySolutions/OculusKiller somewthing like this maybe
bnuuy
I'd recommend you not do it on a day you want to play because you ain't finishing
actual fax no printer
telling me im bad...
smh
it took me like 2 days to set it up
huh
i used monado + openhmd, but it appears this is something else?
because initiating the process of getting vr working in linux automatically starts you in the "rough" spot
gnome
that guide agrees
(KDE โ , Gnome is Untested ) and X11 ( KDE โ , Gnome is Untested )
i want to like gnome due to its widespread use i feel like im missing something
but it's like unusable
without 30021490184091829038109 plugins
functional desktop and bar
i need to use monado purely for the base stations outside in tracking
so i wonder what that uses
just the fact that gnome tweaks exists and has existed for ages, continues to exist without most of that stuff being easily configurable from within the gui
I can't wait to try out cosmic tho
just automatically means gnome is rough
i was running the alpha and the beta for a while on my laptop
i like it
it's the first DE outside of kde that i don't really feel like it's missing a lot
i chose arch hyprland and im probably never gonna switch now
i'll see... tho since the guide i linked has been updated early this year. i would assume it still works. so i'll likely test that especially since you said you have weird tracking issues
i got used to hyprlkand, and i odnt want to change for no reason
ye
yeah i mean it's your env i was just saying you do have the ability to swap on archibald
its mainly calibration issues
cuz there are 2 trackign stations, and each one think you're in a slightly different position
so it makes you switch inbetween
i like QTile a lot, wonder how wayland is going with them now, last i checked it was in a rough spot
seems like OpenHMD will require me to downgrade my nvidia drivers... so i guess i'll try your method first
uhm
im also using openhmd, but i didn't need to downgrade my drivers
I'd probably put cosmic on not my main two, probs on the laptop I use for forwarding touch inputs
that's just cv1 rift
im pretty sure the new kernels shoudlnt have issues
yeah... my headset
the amount of comments isn't enormous so i cant imagine it affects EVERYONE
how many do you think still use a CV1
also the cv1 is so old brah
having 2 comments is already a ton
i know... thats why im gonna buy the steam frame
it's old enough that i'd start considering it to be sorta a form of like
first i need to start monado manually, then i can start steamvr with openhmd.
if i dont start monado first im in the floor (cuz no tracking) or i get grey screen
The issue existing already is a ton
old arcade hardware or something
bash script when
like a hey guys why the tf can't i launch STEAMVR on my virtualboy???
slightly better than that
wtf. just because its held together by ducttape and is falling apart?
lol it's hyperbole
your cv1 is falling apart?
and one of the earphones doesn't work anymore
it's just old enough to the point that stuff starts becoming straight up ignored when it comes to support
because one of the cable is cut
mine is in almost new condition lol
its a walking mess...
the headstrap is held together by ducttape because the sides broke off at the headset end
I just removed my earphones, though I could use a new face shield as it is still stock
nicest used cv1 on sale at a con be like
big tech want you to think its too old to work. but if you can just program it to work, then it works.
i mean at the end of the day it's a display
a funky one
and an input device
so it SHOULD be operable
im just saying it's old enough that like
especially for OSS
nobody is getting paid to care
so they arent gonna care
my almost new condition cv1 was only 100 bucks, idk what conventions you go to
I'd be tempted to get a bigscreen, but yeah insane price
need to prove I could sleep in VRC to make it worth it first
well you also can buy GPUs for semi reasonable prices much more frequently than i'm used to
fair enough
so you have to remember, over here we're living in some form of fever dream where economics are all out of wack
Father, what where the RAM prices like?

furiosa's cv1
it still works tho..
hey if it works it works
ram is also that expensive here rn apaprently. specifically that set at least, i didnt google any others
well
this is the same store
the listing on line now says
i could get it tomorrow for no fee how generous
ditto here
ive been debating getting a better vr headset, but for the amount of money new headset go to, and the actual difference in specs, its really not worth it. especially with me playing vr once every 2 months at most
the screen upgrades might be surprising
i know you will talk about oled rn
but
the resolution and stuff probably goes a bit further than it might seem
hear me out
the screendoor effect on the cv1 is almost not noticable. a lot better than the vive
i know higher res is better
but it doesnt even bother me that much on the rift
that and higher refresh and better FOV etc
90hz is fine since vrc can barely do 60
i just hope for a reasonable price for the steam frame...
110 degrees fov is the same as the steam frame thing too
vr chat doesnt exactly demand performance anyways in the activities performed
it is $100 cheaper as long as you can support quad channel
is that computer or physical?
idk, i noticed it, although to be fair my time w/ the older headsets is very limited
it was doing 45fps on public lobbies. having the display itslef higher hz would only help latency
non pro is 6400mhz at $665USD
i mean i noticed the display in general
sorry it does look like i was talking about the refresh there
hmm
but yeah like the quest3 has 2x the resolution per eye as a cv1
i think im jsut not that bothered about it compared to other people
ofcourse higher res, higher hz, lower weight will make it more immersive. but im fine with the rift cv1 specs
I could play vrc in
i found the passthrough to be significantly more of a QOL feature than i expected
that is called not putting on my glasses
you mean having the pc render it?
the quest3 does it on its own
you can see your room through the headset
AR mode is surprisingly useful when I want to grab a drink from the fridge
yeah i really thought it would be useless but there is a large amount of headset coming off and back on that doesnt happen because of it
and you can see when people approach/animals etc
I legit just don't take off the headset despite it not being in color
quest 2 moment
ah
oh
i think i jsut dont care about seeing my own room
its cool if it has it
but not a feature i activly seek out
wasnt for me but it was more of a boon than i thought it'd be
You'd also prefer wired
i do catch myself looking at my room a fair bit especially since its dark and i can get a idea of where i am so i don't punch my monitor
my cat has been saved more than once
sneaking up on me
i don't have a cat...
@fast pagoda
i'm so sorry and hope you remedy this situation posthaste

vivaldi moment, i think whatever was on here got filtered
nope me too
maybe they are trying to erase it from existence
DDR5 ram, 128gb
time to put out all new model numbers so price tracking breaks
i saw some SUUUUUPPEERRR DEFINITELY LEGIT ebay listings for the crucial 64gb sodimm 6400 kit and for the 32gb module that the kit has 2 of, but alone
that had them at like
regular msrp
but no ebay reviews
i almost went ahead and bought one just to see
we love improving from 5600mhz to 6400mhz by removing the pro label (and probably ecc)
craigslist rebuild
she's been redone but we lost the receipts
i would NOT want to be needing ECC right about now
have you seen those prices
my lord
you are not catching me with ECC in this economy

@olive sable mandatory suffering ping
words
im actually very peeved that right now if i see like 64gb of ram and it's less than $300 i go "wow great price"
surely you specifically mean ddr5?
yes
does soddim count?
i am personally shopping for sodimms at this time because the ram i need is for my mini
they are not immunie
64gb 4800 for 180 bucks
i see
ddr5 you divide by 2 for ddr4 speed
LLMs for making this expensive
love that some of these are unironically marked as being a price drop
drop for your wallet
not expensive, but half of these are "tijdelijk niet op voorraad" (currently unavailable)
not available will show like
last price
so it's old
but also even that is horrible if you consider like
a few months ago
aint no way the 139 still exists
to the chatters here
its mislabeled bwaa
classic
classic
single sodimm crucial 5600 64gig has actually fallen from the max it hit a lil bit ago but in the US it was $131 in may this year
and it's now $372
damn
i keep having to reframe it myself
because i will see like 250 for 64gb
and im now used to thinking that's a good price
that's a terrible price
it's just the others are even worse
and even that is a super rare listing now, for 64gb off ddr5 in the 5600+ speeds seems to be a minimum of about 300 on official listings and that's the cheapest dogwater ram
it is just funny to blame them
i have an amogus to draw on this
I am simply not buying computers during this time frame, everything sucks
it's like every time something starts getting reasoonably priced
it's like phew thank god gpus suck but i dont need one of those i just wanna build a nice nas or w/e
go to buy ram and storage
ope that quadrupled
get rekt
I should buy cpu now
this is not even worth it then imo. i would jsut get ddr4 4000 or whatever instead
do new cpus still suppoort ddr4?
there was a time they did both ddr4 and 5
i dont think so
12th gen intel did but that's it
it would not be physically possible for a normal ddr5 socket to accept ddr4, so they must've just had the option of configuring what type of slots or something? that's weird
yeah idk what kinda voodoo magic they did
i think it was just that cpu itself supported different motherboards
yeah that has to be it
like you could get a diff chipset that was still using ddr4 but the cpu could be used in either that or a chipset w/ ddr5
looking through some threads rn and
this was a couple years ago
they didn't know

surely by the time zen 6 rolls around it'll be back to normal
surely the ai bubble will pop soon
they dont have excess capacity and it seems like essentially all capacity in 2026 is already bought &
ill have to prepare for ddr6 to be 1000$ for 64gb, and the 8090 will be 15K$
and itll take a long time to get more production going cuz they didnt invest in it because it kept walking them into dram prices falling after they invested a bunch
hbm4 i assume?
Not worth, has to be used in a dell system
is dell that bad?
hbm4 aka we doubled hbm3e width, which doubled performance,
crazy how that works right
i couldn't have predicted it in a million years
i'm so sad, i wanted to add a nice abstraction to my multi-gpu cuckoo filter but after just adding a single function of indirection the lookup is twice as slow
zero cost abstraction my ass
the issue is that your locked in a MB with 1 PCIe x16 slot
the eternal problem of all those $50 aliexpress lga2011 boards
ye
yeah it is meh
12 core?
peep my threadripper epycc
i'm pretty sure you can get a 5900x for that much at this point or less, same chip basically
how is 12 core even cosidered ripping threads?
i didnt mind my 5900x but i feel that it was slightly disappointing for what i expected
i like how 61.7W makes it go bright red
idk why, i think it was a lot to like one thread or something
it's not that red at over 70 rn
this air cooler puts in work though
now that i think about it
epic
honestly i dont know at what point the power usage goes red
i set it to "use however much you want"
precision boost overdrive 4 or whatever
me giving my shitty gpu 70watts more than it defaults its powerlimit to
seems right to me
i had issues wiuth my power usage readings for cpu beofre
i havent seen hwinfo in a minute
i ended up replacing the program responsible for reading cpu stats with another
btop doesnt always have it available depending on the system
i thought it was an option but maybe it was in like bpytop but not in btop++
because i didnt find a toggle for it
found it
i had to sudo for it to show up
weird
guess they don't do the thingy in nixpkgs
i have it in my waybar
i wonder how it looks when i inevitably need to recompile llama.cpp-cuda for 10 mins again
as i always do because it updates every 3 seconds
both?
seems to be client side
I need to recompile ik_llama and see if they fixed the regression with the t/g speed.
open the link
it explains everything

ngl
i didn't even notice there was a link
but yeah
guess nixpkgs recently updated to 10.1
most optimal multi-gpu program
using any of the 2nd at all
already doing better than many
not pictured: PCIe bus slammed at 100%
optimal
tinygrad are quaking
if i end up wiring anything up in home network wise it's gonna be fibre next time
im sure thatll be very easy and simply accessible to do

6pm traffic
ngl i thought these gpus were connected via nvlink but guess not
rip sli
idk if the server edition of the rtx pro 6000 blackwell even has nvlink slots
the normal card probably doesn't right

got that low trim level missing button wifi nvlink
oh wait i'm dumb, workstation cards do get nvlink
Inserted 510027366 / 510027366 items, found 510027366 items in 139 ms
close enough right
where did you find that rtx pro 6000 blackwell has nvlink
im finding the opposite
NVIDIA has phased out NVLink for consumer and workstation GPUs and reserves it only for their enterprise GPUs. The last generation to support NVLink in the consumer and workstation class is Ampere.
is it not?
not the one above
then wtf is it??????
oh nah it's just a hole that is plugged over
bruh
like an empty button spot in your car where a higher trim has like a seat warmer w/e
i odnt have a car but i get what you mean
probably just reusing pcb from the b200 or whatever they're at i guess
yea/coolers
not 100% but enough to be worried about
theoretical is 64GB/s so uhhh

See you in a bit then
you have patience and it'll be done in a mere 3 years
you must simply manifest the extra speed
Wonder how this will crumble getting thousands of requests from an event or something
I hate phone discord
Somehow the 2nd half of another message is attached to that
That's impressive
nice, fv7beta2 was just released
it's... a huge step down in fullness from fv7beta1 (this means a lot less noise, too)
still quite a fuller than big beta 6x
instead of ensembling fv4 or fv6/fv7beta1 and big beta 6x, maybe just fv7beta2 would work.. and better, too
https://android-developers.googleblog.com/2025/11/android-developer-verification-early.html
we are building a new advanced flow that allows experienced users to accept the risks of installing software that isn't verified
Hmmm
advanced flow, hmm. Is it going to be even more of a pain than it currently is?
I'm perfectly fine with them making it annoying so that people won't be coerced into doing it as long as it's a one-time thing
I think this is a pretty reasonable middle ground
if it isn't one-time I'm just using adb for all of my apps for now on
How to learn java
make stuff in it
please talk in proper sentences
anyway there are many tutorials online just google some and read until you feel like you understand it
for any feature you want
and then try to apply it in practice because you will instantly forget otherwise
it's great to hear from you idea@tender river

anyways
does the docker extension api allow javascript files to be ran as backend?
im probably not using correct terminology here but oh well

i dont wanna wait 2 months
to train a 270m model
It's the same thing when I realized I needed to train an expert model instead of waiting 90 days using any other model (which was capable of completing the task) to process my data.
After I trained the model, I did everything in 3 days... but it took me several months to create the expert model
is a bit muddy.. but the noise is also relatively low
it's still on the fuller side, it's just the instruments were extremely loud during the chorus.. so it's gonna be muddy
@austere condor
... but it was the data that took me a lot of time, not the training. If I used the deepseek v3 api it would cost me about $600
ah
well
as you can probably guess from the above
i've been scraping twitch vods for well over 6 months
actually approaching 9 months now
So apparently I got blindsided by the valve hardware release
My dataset is only about 40 million tokens, not that much. But the reasoning alone requires about 10,000โ15,000 tokens per example to complete the task.
and only large models can complete the task, small ones cannot, regardless of the quality of the prompt.

had a first assessment for an IT traineeship earlier today
some logic puzzles broke my brain
Do you remember any? Or are they very specific/large/complex
nah these weren't very large or super complex, just kinda annoying
the actual technical assessment follows later
this was just puzzles like showing sides of a dice with symbols like triangles, squares, etc. and then needing to answer which are other valid rotations of the dice
also matrix puzzles, pattern grids, all kinds of logic puzzles
You have unlocked new role
i was trying to find logic in 4th picture
And its just a random set of answer variants
yeah
1st and 3rd picture are the "keys" and the 2nd and 4th pictures are the answer variants
i'll be real i'm still not sure what the solution is to the 3rd picture
most of the logic puzzles were okay, that one i just didn't get
and there were several of that variety
I think its middle left
i think i went with bottom middle for that one, i don't remember
i just couldn't figure them out
or bottom left rather*
White+horizontal gives horizontal
Black + vertical gives dots
Black + dots gives vertical
these puzzles are fun when you get it but super annoying when you dont
i know programming is in part about logical thinking but i just don't really understand how these specific puzzles apply to that
Abstract logic or smth
it's a very thorough assessment in any case, and i kinda like that because at least it feels like you're being taken seriously
I do not give a fuck JetBrains
So this is why we never include spell check in IDEs
Their AI made the fucking comment too
The ai did s instead of 's
that is how we know it is built for code completion
otherwise it would have been correct

I had a discord moment
What was it?
there was a solid 4 emotes worth of void under the "emote"
So, like, the message went way longer then it should have looked?
I was assuming maybe it was trying to fullscreen fake emotes again but decided not to today
I have the problem where if I have hdr enabled, the screenshots of discord will sometimes be extremely bright for some reason. This doesn't happen on browsers, so it's not a problem from Chromium, it's something Discord fucked up
classic discord issue
yup
my issue is with the mobile app, no I won't say what

why not
Grab a screenshot it leaves once you leave the chat
that happens to me all the time
I forgot to take a screenshot for it
I was going to say that I'm surprised AI isn't better at grammar, but I haven't personally used it, so I'm not really qualified to judge it well just based on second-hand info
Well, it's an AI based around coding, not writing
What's the silliness here today?
The entire mobile app is a skill issue
I'd be here for an hour
True
I've heard poor things about grammarly too though
not them switching to AI instead of decent
I've started manually transcribing a song for NeuroSynth
It's too good for automatic transcriptions
It's also gonna end up being the first fully cooked Japanese song
SwarmFM should have someone live transcribe the captions in real time instead of using ai
I'm talking about transcribing note pitches more than lyrics
Is that not what something like audacity does?
No
I don't know a fucking thing about audio-related shit
That's something I'm doing in-engine in the NeuroSynth editor
Audacity is not a DAW either so it can't even do that
The vocals will be the easy part
The instrumental will be the hard part
May I ask what NeuroSynth is btw? Is it some sort of vocaloid thing
-# Totally not asking if there's anyone here that does instrumentals
nope
It's a vocal synthesizer with Neuro's voice I'm making to allow the community to make their own Neuro stuff
Is it open source?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjEkksmofgo
It goes something like this
silly lil extra thing for the longer wait

I was looking at the channel, you managed to get a chess match with neuro?
Oh those are ancient videos
I have not done anything with my channel in ages
Every cover ends up being a collab with someone
Amazing comment section
SMOL
I've very much shifted from whatever I was doing back then to focusing all on NeuroSynth
At least I'm getting decent with it by now
My main limiting factor is starting to be instrumentals, I really need to get good at doing those
I may have to do it with this song I'm doing next even becaue my usual instrumentalist is busy
And there's 0 good quality openly available instrumentals for it
my only experience are running the songs through a model :/ I wish I had good music creating experience...
Yea I'm not using an extracted instrumental those suck
I may just have to spend the ages it'll take to figure out how to transcribe it well by hand based on the few small things I've done before
can be decent, it just depends... there's def loss/added noise involved
Most cases itยจs pretty obvious
hmm, have you tried inst v1e+
No clue what that is
vocal remover model
Also no matter what I'm not using an extracted instrumental from a YouTube download
if you truly want something high quality, though, making one is def best
I'll just need to figure out how to inst
this one here
can have some vocal bleed (especially during quiet sections) and piano is noisy (resurrection inst works better for piano)
Oh isn't that just part of what UVR with Roformer patch offers?
yes, but it's not available in the download center (only older models are)
feels like it
been a wild few years
Completely not up to my latest standards
Sil
Either way I have no clue how adding custom models to UVR works
ye
so like yesterday
Is that a Miku PSU?
Very silly
On my PC it would be pretty pointless as the PSU is completely hidden away
Looks pretty good though
Pricy
I remember seeing articles about neuro being banned but she wasn't coherent enough to watch back then. That felt like ages ago. Only remembered she exists recently.
How much of that is the miku tax though
Am I already a boomer?
3 years isn't that long
How long ago did I graduate coll- oh fuck
about 60 dollars
the original SKU is $450
I wanna see them make a gabecube
Yup
I like how @short ingot named the folders, it does not make any sense at all what they do, without looking at its contents. Very like her.
.needy/modules
she had a crashout with copilot

nakurPT (gpt)?
idk I tried fitting claude in but I can't figure out how
wdym?
oooh-
no ktrain its a good pun most of us are just autistic
try nakurity.ai, no?
true...
uhm
or... atleast... I don't think I am...
try saying nakurity out loud
na ku ri ty
and then say nakur-P-T out loud
is how she pronounces it
no I mean out loud
na kur P T
is what I pronounced it
I did, duh. I can say stuff in my mind lol
puh tuh
mhm
mmhm
you need to hear the similarity
actually... na ku re te is more so accurate of what she pronounces her name as
ah
OOOH I DIDNT GET IT
cause...
I knew the similarity
but I did not understand what I was looking for lol
am confusioed
am confused, on what are we confused about
average day in #programming i see
average day in #programming is <insert obsession here>?
actually... how would I set an environment variable for ollama, without actually making a global variable in my system?
run it from the shell and set it there
so like, just in bash?
yeah, you can do ENV=var command
kay!
though that won't make it inherit the env variable into subprocesses so you might want uhh
export ENV=var
command
got it, tysm!
very useful for not giving every process access to sensitive env variables for example
yea
very useful for sharing the api key with the world through a commit
its okay! I'm not using that for an api key
env A=B command also work, more portable technically

true

Can someone explain GRU simply? Iโve spent 3 days on it and still only understand like 5%
nakurity's tracer is kinda useful actually
bunch of fancy math to be able to set how much of the previous state to forget and how much of a new candidate to influence the next state
Gru is the guy who stole the moon or something
๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ
Yea, I get that much but I donโt get the math behind itโฆ
Sorry for ping
So that's the person who took the moon. I was looking for it everywhere!
the sigmoids are from 0 to 1 for the forgetting and tanh is -1 to 1 for updating it in one direction
the exact specifics of how exactly they compose together internally doesn't really matter that much, since you'll usually treat the whole thing as a single unit anyway
Thx
has anyone ever had needed to import "print" in a programming language.
ye very common actually

waaaa

its just importing print. and nothing else
its not a bundle...
I think, normally it would include a bunch of other stuff, no?
just small issue
ne not necessarily, print is actually quite large impl if you do it from scratch
oooh
this was a prototype
and the impl nakurity asked me to do, was in asm. And to make it an executable that something like c can call
not a library / dll... for some... reason
lol
object

that's the word you were looking for
she said this was because so she could just slide in another dll without having to implement it in c to call it. it will just load on demand
by dll, I would assume she meant executable
like...
but okipoki

and then the import statement load the other plugins by requiring a symbol name for it
sound like dynamic linker
sounds like a dll being opened to me and then calling a predefined symbol
usually wouldnt use executable, would use dll
yea
but she said to call executables using a standard format that all modules would use as an executable to get their params

the parser isn't even loaded by default

smh
nothing stopping you from parsing python on the fly i guess and using that like a dll
python actively support it with inbuilt libraries infact
in fact, import x.py is pretty much that

python is first compiled to byte code before being interpreted
but also imports happen at runtime
you can import arbitrary files and importing them runs the file
thats how definitions are done with imports
in the language we're building. everything happens at runtime
yes... apparently

the final implementation would be like:
step 1, parse the file
step 2, read the parsed file
step 3, if import is found, resolve and save the ast kind
step 4, if that import is used, call upon that ast kind. (it is an executable)
step 5, if there's a free command for that import, delete it from the registry
step 6, end the program
I was thinking of making it segfault if the memory is not cleared correctly, actually
I like that these ast kinds support spaces
how would we do that... ๐ค
wasn't there a file you can write into to trigger a panic
or just ship a kernel module and load that
this not ast
ast is the nodes
space in "kind" not mean anything

tost <- kernel panic
no, that is what the import stuff uses
import resolves that kind to the symbol name

with โจ magic โจ
this is meaningless
cause I do not know how it works
respectfully
but will it work?
r
u
to tell eslint to stfu about console.log, yeah
waht
oh i knew it!
after seeing brodie's video on syntax highlighting i thought i would give tsoding theme a try, it actually works nicely for my head
can isee a string and array javacode example? (yes im studying computer science)
?
what is javacode
is it java or js
and also strings and arrays are general programming concepts
java yeah

chat
do you think I will be able to run python 3.12 on an old ass laptop with windows 7
are you forced to run it on a pc and on a win7 and a native system by the circumstances?
bc probably yes, but there are more ways to do that
idk wdym by forced
its just that the laptop hasnt been touched in ages, and I figured out it got win 7 installed
its like from 2012
I might figure out how to load win 8 or win 10 on it, but idk if I want to bloat it that much
It might not have drivers existing on win10
Actually, the ast kind is like the package namespace, that register and holds the execution logic for the namespaces
And the symbol contains the symbol to parse for.
So like the symbol figures out stuff like require, print, etc. While the ast kind can bundle the require, print, and other modules together, into one ast namespace

i mean, it's probably e-waste unless it has ~8 gigs and a good cpu and/or gpu
a 4gb one probably can go as a homelab with linux
8 gigs with tablet mode
its a fujitsu lifebook
who is taking computer science course college here?
Okay I'm not super familiar with those series but assuming the usual 8gb specs then it will be a i5 2nd gen I think
