not to mention the various issues with ghosting and smearing due to using a temporal solution.

and yes you can rewrite these or use a diffrent solution to not have these issues, and then ue5 is a decent engine, but i myself wont be rewriting half the engine

and i do think the nature of how the engine works and how you work with it kind of interferes with light baking, for example source 1/2, they're basically built on the idea that you have a static level and minimal dynamic things which are distinctly entities and the experience of working with engine tools makes that very very clear - you have brushes and static props, and entities as a second class citizen
for ue it''s more friction to do that because it's built as a way more flexible and dynamic thing

what i really like about hf_hub is that if you don't specifically make add a local_dir="foo/bar" and try to use hf download <repo> it'll ignore the execution directory of the command, put it in ~/.cache/huggingface/hub/models, and then when you go to get it out of that stupid ass fucking folder that you didn't want to put it in, the "repo" is laid out in a totally dogshit multitude of folders which resembles the repo layout not at all
