bro got lost in his own bit
no you were just rude
I'm just... gonna go work on the vscode extension again, that stream was great but could have been better due to... technical/usage issues on our part
i don't know what you're talking about but you were genuinely rude.
people aren't trying to deceive you or anything and thinking that is psycho behavior ngl
yes
you also cursed at them
lmao
jokes can be rude
"i'm just joking" is not an excuse
and, again, this is not you being gaslit
Your only gaslighting yourself thinking that your gaslit
5brain
c wоrd hаrd r is not allowed here period
Cya chat, I'm noping out of this
hope you recover
?
i mean you're probably used to spaces where its normal to be rude
sorry but i meant what i said
again, you cursed at them
and cursing at someone "as a joke" is still cursing at someone
ios is so ass i can't login to twitter on browser when lockdown mode is on
schizo fr
I think they were both joking but
i'm not laughing
and actually i can call mods and they will probably agree
if you want?
sure
@fair cipher or @cobalt vessel can you please tell this confused chatter that they were being rude #programming message

crazy

developer mode is gone after re-enabling lockdown mode
not sure if this is an intended change in ios 26
algorithms are classified under Artificial Intelligence, so pathfinding itself is AI, but not the AI(Machine Learning) that most people think of
it's not a black box
Honestly couldn't say considering apple
ok now it's back
apparently i need to reinstall the sideloaded apps for the option to come back on
https://developer.android.com/developer-verification
This is fun.
it's semi-private information now
me not knowing the c word
a?
lol
that actually made me laugh for some reason
let me see this conversation context
It's nothing serious, it's just that it was a bit off-key and not everyone took it as a joke(it wasn't so clear),it was a misunderstanding (I think).
If being gaslit is not agreeing then I need a new valve because the stove just went up in flames
Damn, he found out that we're conspiring.
You went to far (I have no idea what this bit is
)
Non biased commentary (at least I'm trying to)
Wish it wasn't deadge hours so this conversation can move on
If I continued I couldn't stay unbiased
As much as I try to
Hello, I'm Gemini. Based on the conversation, here's an explanation of the situation:
Cozend made a comment that he considered a joke ("you're a fucking compiler... go play with other compilers"), but to the other participants in the chat, the comment, especially the aggressive language, sounded genuinely rude and not like a clear joke.
Cozend's confusion came from a mismatch: he was using aggression as a form of humor, but the others were interpreting his words literally. He thought people were conspiring to make him feel guilty for no reason, when in reality, they were simply expressing that his joke was not funny and was, in fact, offensive.
In short, it wasn't a case of "gaslighting." It was a misunderstanding where Cozend's joke was perceived as a personal attack, and the others' refusal to laugh or ignore the offense made him believe he was being manipulated.
That I can agree on
None of us have the authority to judge you anyways. Let's just drop this
This is more off topic than I'll personally allow in #programming
yea it was pretty hostile

calling someone a compiler is crazy
Considering that this chat is a bit dead, I take it the triangle saga ended?
its not because of calling someone a compiler tbf, its the tone
Not funny
your tone is still kind of hostile, is what i meant
i'd say drop it and we move on, though
Yeah, Sam dropped support due to wanting to work on the actual engine. ran out of new testers and optimastions because of it.
🔺
It may blip in as a cameo, but the arc has ended pretty much
was fun while it lasted
Bro it was not the compiler the problem
🔺
🔺

Yes, but not everyone is in on your joke. If I went up to my girlfriend and said, "Hey, you're a goddamn fucked-up Japanese rice," even though I called her "Japanese rice," she'd still be like, "Wtf?"
Now would be a good time to say what I’ve done with my art program but I haven’t done anything to it since last time, I was sleeping and watching vods.
Good evening Programming i just wasted 6 hours deep-cleaning instead of quick-partitioning my 5TB from NFTS to ExFAT and in the end I still have to re-download my steam games :')
Relatable
I hope everyone is having a better night than I
I wish you the best in the effort
Thank you, I will need it. MS Flightsim alone will take ages......
bro it's not that hard

Honestly, now I don't know if he's the one gaslighting, but I'm laughing at the situation
Ngl I thought he'd already gone otherwise ida waited to dump my issues lmao
I do hope everyone's having a good timezone tho!
I’m also just not to sure what to work on next besides adding palettes properly. I feel like I’m getting to the point where me not being a very good artist is becoming the bigger issue.
can i see your art?
I don’t have many actual things drawn but here’s a Neuro I made in procreate when her new model debuted. It’s just that I don’t draw often enough to know what I should add next.
Also I need to actually practice environments
What I mean by this is that any features I can think of to help drawing outside of basic things are really weird and I don’t even know if they’d be useful.
@prime ridge While I see you online, I'm making progress on the NN again
An active project thread
😁 What thread??? I can't imagine which one... 😁
Despite the fact that it is past 4am in my time zone... I am still a bit curious
There isn't much at the moment
I still need to actually work on something to showcase
Would it be silly of me to say the main reason I am making an art program is because I hate this bottom slider in procreate. Also so I can import sprites into other projects easily.
a project is a project. Go for it
I'm not even going to ask...
me neither
i got rejection on one job but the other one seems like it's still not rejected???
pogs
for now
chat
how reliable are external hard drives in your experience
i've been using an old laptop from 2013 as one basically, but i figured a pocket sized thingy would be better
i have had more issues with usb ports than i have with the actual drives
but from the comments i see, they like to randomly die in 1-3 years making them utterly useless
many are regular hard drives in a sata enclosure
i recommend just buying a usb sata adapter and a regular hard drive unless you want portability
mine last around 7+ years in my experience
I can't speak for actual HDDs but external SSDs have worked fine for me
but there are so many factors that could be at play here
It depends on the size and type of drive you get, I think. I have a couple 250GB thumb drives I've had since 2020 that haven't failed yet, but I only recently (earlier this year) got a proper external drive (which is an HDD) and since it hasnt been a year yet I cant really speak on it but! it hasnt failed yet!
my main use case is basically writable backup that i touch twice a year
and i've seen lots of comments about some onboard chip dying, making the drive inaccessible
this might be the way actually
that's actually insane
i hate the ghosting companies do
a friend of mine knew the startup he's at will go RIP by december 31 so he started applying to places in early november
he got a job by may
another dude went september to april passively looking and applying
the benchmark seems to be 5 months
which is reassuring as i have 3 weeks left at this place and i haven't started applying to new ones
well it's a good for nothing HR person
of course they'll prefer doing nothing over working
Welp
I have a 1tb passport/drive that's been working fine for at least 7 years.
honestly i might just buy one + sub to google one
if both fail at the same time, i don't need my data anymore, life has spoken
i worked there for 4 years
i also applied for this i hope this one at least gets accepted ._.
okay I just saw my external drive was first accessed in 2016.
you're too young to have a job,
??????
they regret their mistake
they put you back on the "10 years of experience pls" intern list now
say that to google when they hired me at fucking 15 and paid less than minimum wage
ok but when you un-childed
oh yea no the unchild wage was still child wage cause i started as a minor
and i wasnt a full FTE
so i was contract based
but yeah i had to do the work of a fucking ML engineer at 18-19 while earning like 1100 bucks per month before taxes
i'm also leaving for similar bullshit tbh, without the contract/minor stuff
i look at random job postings for my stack and my experience and it's like 40% more to 90% more than what i'm earning
i have work qualification to do software dev but no one wants my work qualification
manager did a small and a big grade bump on me, in both cases saying "budget tight rn, we'll sort it out in may"
i'll accept anything as long as it's not war related
ok also as long as it's not a prompt engineer job
dish washing
then in may he pulled some random 360 days old log from IT about me trying to run some stuff i needed for a task, call it an IT safety policy violation, call it a "gross abuse of my freshly gained admin rights" (i always had admin rights i just re-requested it for docker when they reinstalled my lappy), and said that in light of this loss of trust by the company towards me, i shouldn't expect any pay raise talks this year
like bro, just say you're trying to soft-fire me cause we're moving to india and i'll go willingly

but yeah a this point i'm like
i can just go anywhere for whatever they offer and it's a 30%-40% raise
don't even need to bargain or aim high
(not saying i won't try tho
)
but it's funny because i'm on a project that requires the living memory of elves who were there when the first snows fell
and 4 out of 6 backend people left the project
and the worst two devs remain
it's gonna be a bonfire
also what is this scam... in zurich there's 100000 senior roles
but like 2 junior roles
🏛️
nobody really wants junior anymore
how do you get senior without junior
from eggs
chatagi effect
in russia everyone just tells juniors to make up experience
LMAO
in soviet russia, experience gets you
4 more weeks and i'm gonna move into this channel
i hope for your quick graduation
also i hate the 3 years of experienc scam
jobs for new graduates with 3 years of experience expectation
and then in some language that is DEFINITELY not covered in uni
who tf knows Swift right after uni
i can't find 2x32gb ddr5 for cheap
Corporate management and HR decide the work experience you need. Unfortunately both of these have barely worked a single day in their life and are very shit at judging reasonable expectations
Well time to wait for 10 years for ddr6 to drop and maybe finally ddr5 becoming $10 cheaper
i cant wait to start my own company and expect candidates to have 15 years of machine learning experience for junior prompt engineer
Cloud storage is a scam, you quickly end up spending more on cloud storage than you would if you just bougt the same amount in actual drives
I have 0 experience can you hire me for $3000/month?
DDR5 is inherently expensive I guess
can YOU hire me for 3000$/month
No

I don’t even have 3k
If we're talking jobs I'm abouut tto start FIFO work
14 days straight of 12 hour woork
then 7 days rest
The pay is okay, but the hourly rate is pretty low for the hours I'll be doing
12 hour work???
12 hours work
mooom they don't want me heeereeee
2025 slavery
This is standard at mines here
you can stay for as long as you want
Sorry t interrupt but I've had this question for a while. Do any godot users know if/how this can be resized, or do I have to make my own version if I want to fix this.
wtf, I don't like my 8-5mm bro is doing 12 hours
The only real issues are the hourly is kinda bad, and its going to murder my social life
Also its like 200km from home and they'll fly me out at start of each roster
what programmer needs a social life
what's funny is that they eventually -do- find someone
Not worth it tbh
like surely if nobody is found they give up eventually?
maybe they just expect people who don't have the experience to apply anyway
I’ve seen some people get their apps rejected by ai
The salary for a fresh grad is prettyt solid, its just the hourly thats the problem
You mean some people aren't getting rejected?
most job appliications have AI involved at some point tthese daays
they ahve to
True, rather spend that money on more computers
because when you're getting 1k+ applicants for a single posiiton
today on great windows questions, why does moving a window in a circle with my mouse drive up cpu useage for all of these tasks
then you get ceos complaining about how nobody wants to work
Windows renders with React now
i did this when i was on a service desk
but those 12 hours?
1 hour of yummy meal breaks
8 hours of gaming
3 hours of work
DWM is obvious, System probably syscalls from stuff, Application Frame Host I have no idea, Denfender ???????
Where???
in Switzerland theres a friggin software devs SHORTAGE yet you cant find a job (?)
Where did the experienced devs go?
not their problem
also ignore their completely absent training processes
Probably to the big companies
it's like an artificial gatekeep inflation
they raise expectations too high, so everyone is looking for jobs and nobody gets jobs -> there's always a shortage in people and they're always hiring
The ones that lay of 10k?
40000 missing it specialists
there's 2x32gb 5200mt/s for $165
wonder if i can just overclock it myself fine
ddr5 is hell to work with.
Get 1 now and then buy 2nd later
I doubt it'll overclock very well compared to DDR4 unless you get lucky
?
wdym
Get 1 32gb and then a second one later
-> Your RAM runs at 3000 MT/s
terrible idea
i'm gonna start a company that only hires junior devs
i'm gonna hire all the junior devs
they have to sign a contract that they'll give me 10% of their salary for life for getting them out of "being a junior" status
i'll rotate these payments into paying my new juniors
ddr5 aren't really friendly with mixing kits
this is so smart
What happens when you run out of junior devs?
Who trains the junior devs though?
Impossible
i retire enjoying my 10% payments from all those medior and senior devs
make pair programming aka teach each other
nobody, they just get paid to do whatever 8 hours a day
offer them coursera course
Also this is a reverse ponzi scheme
they will love it
they will sign
and then they will easily afford that 10% shaving from their cozy medior jobs in 3 years

Will never happen
Meanwhile there's me doing like 20 things at once and getting nothing in return for any of it
Resume building for 8 hours a day (no one will actually be on topic)
pair programming imo is so dumb
+++
i only understand when someone is lost that u ask someone else but
pair programming is about someone observing me thus i cannot talk on discord like rn, therefore i'm productive
I can not imagine pair programming as a forced activity
full pair programming is dumb
Forcing a programmer to socialize
Two idiots banging at the wall flavor is accepted
pair programming with a cybergoth girl tho...
i've done pair programming and it can work well when the project involves lots of thinking and not as much typing
I would suck at it, I work best alone and completely become incapable of doing anything while in a group
pair programming with a 0.1x engineer
i'd rather pair program in a discord vc
Thanks god pair programming seems like some hype stuff in startups or google-like companies. In my boring corpo field no one ever think about doing it
pair deez nuts
I mostly roadmap alone but on some projects I do pair
honestly to me 90% of the benefit is the work ethic that arises from someone else being there actively + the occasional push or idea when i'm stuck
pair programming with girls works exactly the same as pair programming with guys actually
i dont think pair programming is a thing at google
ok ok "cybergoth cuties"
never had the displeasure of pair programming
I've had somewhat over discord VC with not the same skillset
Man I wished I had access to a computer
pair programming (you stream programming on a discord vc while your friends backseat you)
Yep

vibe coding with twitch chat voting on whether you accept this generated result or not
2x worse code quality
I prefer to feel like I'm stupid not when I'm actually coding, but later on my code review. It's easier to live this way
dynamically scaling code quality (the board loves to see the graph go brrr)
I'm pretty sure twitch streaming is a 50% debuff in general
i love when i first started
there was this one guy
that left like 30 comments on my PR
i was once stuck on a single PR for like 2 weeks
i've done pair programming many times for programming olympiads
please remove this extra newline
chat messages get randomly selected to add to the next prompt
lol i have experience being on the side that requests a billion changes
hblang mhm
our PR ethic is "try to ✅ it, and if there's something so grossly wrong that you don't have the heart to ✅ talk about it with the guy"
hblang is a one man project
Honestly respect to that indvidual
I just thought of something kinda funny, what if when NeuroSynth releases someone makes a song specifically for #programming with it for whatever reason
its incredible commitment considering the language is barely being used at the moment
that for any discussion that couldve been solved via DMs they wanted a whole voice call
I vote for a cover of I don't want to be an engineer
i DO want to be an engineer
I technically already have one cooked up for the most part, just the tuning on it is semi-outdated
Is it #programming related tho
And by semi-outdated I mean it's literally last-gen tuning
I was referring to cover of I don't want to be an engineer
i did a numbers iii cover once
I would offer to do writing if people have a song suggestion to cover, but I have things I'm supposed to be working on creativly
Like a second original with NeuroSynth
Tru
Well, the first original was Neuro RVC, so it would be first NeuroSynth original
True
only true legends remember my singing of numbers iii
Technically I have two songs in the oven, but I'm stalling one of them for EvilSynth
EvliSynth currently exists in a BETA state
Just there's literally nothing made with it so nobody remembers it
Overall EvilSynth's limitations are virtually identical to those of NeuroSynth
Though NeuroSynth is soon gonna be getting some upgrades
Current goal for NeuroSynth is range extensions, to get up to the singular note in question (pitch A#5)
Try winver
i DO what i WANT, to be an ENGINEER
need to config it so it only does security patches
windows users when they have to update their computer
That’s what happens when you replace devs with ai
That’s why I don’t update my windows 10
do you think you're not exactly the person I'm having a jab at here
I’m built differently
am i cooked
24h2 is probably fine superbox just hates it for some reason
are there worse
Potentially
24H2 has stuff like the SSD wipe bug, I've heard of stuff as bad as BIOS corruption
Not everyone will get it, but 24H2 is usually considered a downgrade overall
where are the shitty ai features no one needs added

but I haven't had like anything shoved in my face so I don't really care too much
I think I had to disable copilot in notepad once but that wasn't hard
unironically based
like a lot of projects exclusively release there and point you there
Average person when GitHub, just doesn't get the point
a "here average user average user" interface would go miles
I'd say move releases to somewhere more obvious imo. That'd solve 90% of the issues
yeah like
have an optional Releases tab right before the code tab
that can be made default
also even the name "releases" is kinda non-descriptive to a non-dev esl user
alternatively the repo owner could just stick a link to the releases in their readme
like you usually seek download or install or such as an esl
they could, but since it's such a common thing, i think it would merit a feature
especially since readmes already scare some people away unless you stick it in the very top
I guess? but if you're worried about scaring people away do you really want to be hosting your main page on a github repo anyways
I'd at least do github pages if I were to do something like that. Maybe embed the latest release tab and a link otherwise.
like i'll be honest, i remember when i myself spent 10 minutes finding "the download" before i've known github at all
it's just a design question really
i'm just glad sourceforge is dying

ig the thing is github, gitlab, etc... are designed for people who know their way around first and foremost
mostly developers
and also because the intended reason to go to github is to read source code
not usually to get binary
it's just that it's de facto used as a release platform by small projects
like, I normally defend GitHub here, but even I know that pointing to the repo homepage and telling outsiders "hey here's the repo good luck finding it!" is not the way
i don't think there's much to lose with an extra optional feature or layout
if anything else, point to the releases tab
the player moves literally right when i press W
while RUNNING:
for event in pygame.event.get():
if event.type == pygame.QUIT:
RUNNING=False
screen.fill("black")
pygame.draw.circle(screen,"red",shape_pos,40)
keys=pygame.key.get_pressed()
if keys[pygame.K_w]:
shape_pos.x -=300 * dt
shape_pos * (radius * dt) % 100
if keys[pygame.K_a]:
shape_pos.y +=300 * dt
shape_pos * (radius * dt) % 100
if keys[pygame.K_s]:
shape_pos.y-=300 * dt
shape_pos * (radius * dt) % 100
if keys[pygame.K_d]:
shape_pos.x +=300 * dt
shape_pos * (radius * dt) % 100
ehhh layout is debatable
two layouts means more work to test new feature placements on each layout
optional feature might be good tho
Not a red triangle
i can make it a triangle
triangle doesn't exist in pygame
also
the code is all wrong
:NOOOO:
cuz the circle moves up when i press S
inverse wasd
i am pretty much a no brainer coder
no logic
The simple solution is to switch all of the += and -=
oh
when i press A it moves up
when press W moves left
i very much tried to make the same code from pygame documentation
shirmple
and end up making giberish
Just keep swapping around binds until it works 👍
how do i make it print what button i press
so i can test it
is sam on?
Probably in an hour or two if I had to guess
just like
if keys[pygame.K_w]:
print("w pressed")
shape_pos.x -=300 * dt
shape_pos * (radius * dt) % 100
holy shit im horrible typing this shit on discord
throw a print somewhere
Or he'll come on just to spite me
i did but it displays a block of false statments
if keys[pygame.K_w]:
print("w pressed")
shape_pos.x -=300 * dt
shape_pos * (radius * dt) % 100
Discord hates you too
i dont remember the thingy to make the code blocks
`
like c++
there even one for brainfuck

it should be i hate discord
Speaking of that man, did you ever play any of his neuro game jam games?
low level audio processing my beloved (i fucking hate it)
whar never heard of it
whats a game jam
no one likes low level
An event where you get a theme and a time limit and try to make a game in that time.
im forced ;-;
I actually met him during the first one and was on his team in the second
oh uh nvm i am just an air head at coding
Yep it has been so long
I've made many more friends
Binary Solace is already 8 months old
It doesn't feel that long ago where I was looping it on new years.
We need a NeuroSynth-based successor
Yeah we do and I should be working on it
Tru
One day I'll pass the lyrics on to get the rest of it going
In the meantime we'll be improving NeuroSynth
Yep, I'm excited for what other covers you make
There's a very particular one I want to really achieve
I'm just glad I get to write for these
But I need more range first
I need an extra 2 semitones at minimum
how do people even come up with this shit
I have no idea, the most I've done programming was creating a script in SQL Server to read market data for the MMO EvE Online put it in a database that then allowed me to see how much the minerals I was mining were worth on the daily
EVE Online mentioned
it is pretty similar yeah
at least the concept of delivering frames and files via RDP
@sick owl they are teasing the new image gen model so badly, better they release it today.. or else
Dam
gonna check it out
Goodmorning
hello, now take a look at this
B > C
Ok i read that, but i didnt understand that
no types
So?
you wouldn't understand
I just really dont care
I like my types
Ill try to add the vertex buffers and stuff today
Cuz im itching for some 3D modeling
hey sam
hey
i just wrote my 30 lines of pygame and the W key bind is moving right
show me the code

import pygame
import random
pygame.init()
screen=pygame.display.set_mode((1000,700))
clock= pygame.time.Clock()
RUNNING=True
shape_pos = pygame.Vector2(screen.get_width() / 2, screen.get_height() / 2)
radius = pygame.Vector2(screen.get_width() / 2, screen.get_height() / 2)
while RUNNING:
for event in pygame.event.get():
if event.type == pygame.QUIT:
RUNNING=False
screen.fill("black")
pygame.draw.circle(screen,"red",shape_pos,40)
keys=pygame.key.get_pressed()
if keys[pygame.K_w]:
shape_pos.x +=300 * dt
shape_pos * (radius * dt) % 100
print(keys)
if keys[pygame.K_a]:
shape_pos.y -=300 * dt
shape_pos * (radius * dt) % 100
print(keys)
if keys[pygame.K_s]:
shape_pos.y +=300 * dt
shape_pos * (radius * dt) % 100
print(keys)
if keys[pygame.K_d]:
shape_pos.x -=300 * dt
shape_pos * (radius * dt) % 100
print(keys)
pygame.display.flip()
dt = clock.tick(60) / 1000
pygame.quit()

ok gimme a sec
why are you using x for up and y for horizontal?
that doesnt make sense
have you never looked at a graph, or played minecraft?
i never played minecarft
also im pretty sure pygame has (0,0) at top left so if you wan to go up you need to do shape_pos.y -=300
that is if i remmeber how pygame works correctly
never i just discovered what is minecarft this year
what langauges you use?
these days c++
oh
i used to do python tho, but i never did the rendering and object stuff with pygame, only the window
well uhm idk what you talking about but i only know mathematical graphs never played that game
i think i could?
well so, you know graphs then
pray tell where the x goes
oh x and y
i mean sure if you learned opengl
i specifically typed "learned"
never
you can learn stuff
thats what is amazing about humans, they dont have to keep being stuipid
well i wish if i got that notch treatment
played minecraft and learned something like all my friends did💀
well some freinds of mine literally at my age are pro coder since 13
my friend in class learned open gl since he was 11
cuz of minecraf shi
well in minecraft you learn some stuff about how graphs work and a bit of trigonometry, so i do think its useful for children to paly it. but on the other hand most of your time is spent doing useless shit
oh dont under estimated them they liked minecarft so much they learned modding and now there are random people living normal life that can rn do a freaking company😭
or smt like that
unlike me
i am just an idiot
i wish if i knew about coding since i was 11
i would quited games
unlike me who was late for it
Hmmm
but i cant look to the past
there's no point in self-pitying for not knowing how to do stuff at 11 that most 11 y/o cant do
and cant say shit with words
What ure coding experience
shit
i am right now struggling with python not going to lie
now its not your isssue
mine
Sad
ye everyone struggles to do stuff when they only just started learning it
thats normal
I have data problem 😭
At my first I was learning coding from phone now pc works me
ye that makes sense, pc's are better for coding
well yeah
i am not going to lie
Always pain to setup still in my mind
Pkg upgrade -y
i am very much lost
google is your friend
pygame docs are also your friend
youtube tutorial are even more your friend
on sempteber 15 i have a python passage exam
i know
i am using them
honestly i feel pity if i say i have coding problems
Except me sometimes I guess
I have an insane advantage with a mind wired for learning really fast though
the lucky ones in life more like who asked
superbox out of nowhere self glazing
What is the project name?
idk about yall but back in my day, 2 years ago, i just watched a 12 hour youtube video about every single thing in python, and then i was a python pro
Silly
it says it in the screenshot, winapps
i watched 6 hours of python and forgot
the key part is not forgetting
ye idk how to help you there, i jsut have a good memory
I just grabbed Kotlin and started messing around, a couple months later and I was writing production-ready apps, now I'm decent enough to write GUI apps that manipulate complex binary data structures
Nice, seems interesting
i mean if we're gonna start boasting
i learned c++ in 2 weeks
if we gonna start boasting
get on my level
idk how practical that is, i'm worried about hardware acceleration
I assume with prior programming experience
Once you know a language you know them all
jsut python as previous experience
i had 28 years of full stack and hardware programming experience as a senior dev, AT THE AGE OF 14
I WORKED in 4 companies AT THE SAME TIME
Whuhhhhhh
I could not even get a job at 14 years old, and still having trouble with it now at 18
WHILE MY LEGS STARTS A RESTAURANT BUSINESS TO FEED MY FAMILY
SINCE THE AGE OF 6
I don't need HW acceleration. I just need adobe acrobat for my government taxes
now idk i acuatly find java better for me and i was able to adapt it
but rn i cant waste my time on learning java
nah thats child labour
For some unholy reason they are using pdf form that are incompatible with every app I tried on linux

asian family be like
i honestly find java easier and better for me
wow
but i am forced to learn python
Simply try more software

i acuatly find java way better
hmmm
and way understandable
ok but you're comapring java to python here
other than learning any programming languages
2 different thing
no
i still hate python, but it is more understandable than python i guess
wait, that sentence doesnt make sense
i hate python
At least Java has sensible dependency management, unlike C++
why does it say that, is it stupid
skill issue
No it's a language issue
i find java better cuz well when i say python
A language as ancient as C++ just didn't have the tooling needed
i hate java and python, but when looking at java at a glance you can tell easier what is going on
imagine needing bloat to manage libraries
plus python documentations sucks
when you can just package dependencies and compile all at once for c++
Meanwhile ever modern language
Rust has Cargo for example, and it's just as fast as C++
i didnt need a video to understand whats a list
i still prefer c++
same
but rust is nice
Because of your weird brackets?
thats part of it i guess.
and dont call them weird
And also, making GUIs in Kotlin is trivial now
you can always make a prebuilt binary for C++
Like actually so convenient
help
Only language I've seen outside of the web that does well at GUI
OH NO
HELPP
no

imagine not using vulkan to make your gui

rate limited?
imagine having to make GUI
I don't have the ability to write complex graphics pipelines, I'd rather Compose multiplatform
i mean i make games here, what do you want from me?
smh can't even properly write barebones shader in kotlin
At least from what I've seen making a GUI in Kotlin is easier than making a complex TUI
I tried it and not work
bloat
eww
ok but like, waht do you need help with specifically? what is the error message?
plz help
Because that's not what Kotlin is for?
some for some reason it cannot send the message when I use / play
exactly, c++ better
But it's also much faster to do that for a quick user friendly application
ezy and understandable
I have no clue how to write TUI code that makes something cool like those stream TUIs, but now I know how to write quite usable GUIs
ok but like, i have no clue how your program works
don't write TUI its hell
I honestly hate Python for its lack of proper type system
It's annoying to work with
i honestly hate python for how slow it is
Expected, and since I now know how to write GUIs I don't need TUIs
its fine mostly, you just need to use proper names
ssssssssssss
angry snake
write your tui in react
can't even do proper computation
Mojo will fix it
mojo fixing it since 2023
Well, anyway
I'm gonna probably stick with Kotlin as my main, especially now that I know how to do GUI really easily in it, but also likely gonna learn Rust for when I need lower level stuff or really fast stuff
i've been writing my kernels for school in mojo, is nice
what code is exactly supposed to do the thing that isnt working?
you cant jsut ask for help and then make it so we have to figure it all out
sth sth relationship with cuda is over
wtf is this supposed to do
I wonder how rare those are compared to Kotlin users
they arent
plus for me python sucks being pure English
like it felts like when i learn java i have to open classes vectors think
python just have those ready built in functions
It's on the same level as finding hblang user in the wild
pure english is normal in the coding world, you'l jsut need to get used to it
im actually taking my game-dev classes in English eventho we speak dutch here
plus the ones who learnt it are probably front end boomers who got tired of fixing divs
python users when they realized that their libraries is written in C
And ML people
ML is still pretty much all Python
plus blame python for creating brain rot and internet ai slop
?
mixing languages is sadly also common but yeah please just use English
ML people when they realize their python libraries are written in C/C++
Yeah python is shit with out cuda
c/c++ why ai exists
Python is basically just a slow wrapper for fast machine code libraries
python is just the brain
I will now start mixing 4 language in my programming because why not
your machine had to do some bloat before actually doing what you programmed it to
imagine computing with that
hell nawwwww
No python is not brain of all ai
(Instead u can say most preferred is python)
I wonder why Python doesn't have a JIT compiler like many other languages
it does
I have Indonesia, Java, Sunda, and English
How is it so slow then?
the pypy in question
code in snake and indonesian island
either use the python built-in debugger, or just put a bunch of prints in there to see the path of the code like a normal person
plus i find java better cuz it has classes and it just makes me feel like to learn it anf figure it out like you learn python stuff and methods by coincidence
pypy exists yeah
now write me the function
though cpython is getting a JIT compiler too
Looks like hint
nasi_goreng()
it's just really barebones atm
python is just C if it had classes and more simplified

LMAO it exists
https://github.com/lantip/sawa
what is wrong with the world today
first there's a real Mojo user, now CPython devs care about performance???
you mean cython right?
no
sounds like someone missed the 3.11 release
plus pythons is hust full of bloat ware functions
naw
Mine was 3.12
nawwww
and wtf is the point of a fucking list
I do not read Python patch notes
Sunda have it's own language (competitor to Java lol)
https://github.com/andraantariksa/sunda-lang
fair, 3.11 was pretty much all performance improvements
We have bro language
me when strings are actually lists of UTF-8 values
Like python they display you like 10 pointlessly functions methods
Example " bro print("hello")bro"
dude and tuples only have 2 and the rest are hash methods plus the only py data type i find it useful are sets and dicts
tuples and list are fucking pointless
batak when
Well more like arrays, since their size is immutable and changing it means creating a new string object in memory in most languages unless a specific string builder object that doesn't do that is provided
so true
all you need is a cons
Go and implment it
naw
why not what are you going to use a list okay rather than puting a list of data classes
sets and dicts are the only thing i find useful when it comes to data management
no, no sets or dicts
only cons
like tuples are only useful for some uses fot classes
the cons of a set its its syntax
cons is love cons is life
dict sucks for numerical values
obly strings
on the other side
you can use nested dicts to add tuples
i hate it here
lists are untyped, therefore it's actually a dynamic array
lists are dynamic arrays that contain PyObject*s
true,,..
like tell me what’s the point of learning what is a tuple i only saw it be used in some absurd data classes used for to just make the code read a group of arrays
i hate lists and tuples
boooo
what do you do if you need a sequence of elements that can have duplicates
well lists
thank god
a tuple is when you need a set set of values as one value
idk if what i said makes sense
lists are just arrays but you can access them and do stupid things
i don't remember how cpython implements tuples actually, i think they're arrays
i'm thinking a more abstract interpretation, it doesn't matter what it's under the hood you're not working with that
I remember once asking chatgpt about the weather and gave me a error displaying a group of lists that have 00000
and looks awfully bad
that being said, if you for example have a (str, int) pair and need to pass it as one value is when you'd want a tuple
Like don’t get me wrong I might just dislike python cuz I don’t know much
typedef struct {
PyObject_VAR_HEAD
Py_hash_t ob_hash;
PyObject *ob_item[1];
} PyTupleObject;
okay nice, so it is an array
but i see java based and better
what else would it be

Plus python have over 1000 stupid functions
that's the point, having most of the things you'll need built-in so you don't have to rely on some third party library
i like java but one thing i hate about it is lack of tuples
i implemented a Pair<A, B> class infinite times
I should learn that instead of python
tables
I hate that they start indices at one but otherwise their implementation is really clean
I'm using one 🙂
Most of its programmers are roblox dev who are a group dumbasses don’t know how use it
tables are insanely versatile
do not insult Roblox programmers
there are literally professional roblox gamedev studios
they push that language further than anyone ever has before
grow a garden rsb blox fruit and adopt me like they are professionals and make this shi
don't they have their own version of lua
dude blox fruits devs wasted there potential on micro transactions 😭
roblox uses luau though
it's basically the same thing
i wouldn't know
most of its devs are stupid like most of its good games are just banned ot never played
it's just one extra letter, how different can it possibly be
idk luau is apparently derived from lua 5.1
current Lua version is 5.4?
sounds quite close to normal Lua then
the last Lua version I interacted with was 4.x something I think
Is roblox lua the same as [...] lua?
...But to answer your question, more or less, but that may not always be the case. There are a few differences in the core language. For example, Luau has type hinting. It also has some other basic features most people expect a language to have like “+=, -=, etc.”.
- random deleted reddit user
Well lets be real here most of it’s professional devs had potential in there games by they just rather waste it on micro transactions or stupid personal reasons
so it's like Lua but TypeScript
for sure
do they not just use LuaJIT
Luau interpreter can be competitive with LuaJIT interpreter depending on the program.
microtransactions are why they are professionals
professional at scamming you
from the official Roblox Luau website it seems
so it's slower
why does everyone keep saying "performance optimizations" then
plus roblox engine was unreal engine 5 but optimized
like did you see there someone made a call of duty game
i'm getting "blazingly fast" vibes
thats better than the whole franchise
tbf no one ever actually looks up benchmarks for anything claiming its faster than X
faster than normal lua, luaJIT doesn't exist
oh hey
You and your benchmarks, I can't even run that one on here
faster than an m1

huh apple m1 chips are fast
what are yall's opinions on std::optional<uint32_t>?
cuz like its a type, but maybe not
they made macbooks good value
4000 usd?
I wonder if there will be Cinabench on Linux some day, would be cool
fucking stupid
can you not run it through proton or sth
seems like rust with extra steps
surely the perf hit isn't that high
I mean, maybe, but I assume it would degrade performance
don't buy them then, but also does ordering from abroad not exist for you or what
It does but taxes
still the same
And that would defeat the point of comparing to other systems' performance when you have a disadvantage
they'd probably need to port cinema4d to linux first, which is a big undertaking to say the least
surely there's a way to do binary translation
though if games can handle the runtime cost just fine it might just simply not be necessary
unless if the devs are detached of hardware optimization
the other way around, specific hardware optimisations make binary translation harder
(not in the case of x86_64 -> x86_64)
game jams are always fun
Yeah…if you had time
Well, I don't know what that is
It's actually surprisingly hard to find benchmarks for Linux that you could use to compare values with people across platforms
hello
well anyways hoping tha i would pass my python exam passage
the best games came out when i worked with a team. solo i always overscope and then do nothing
real "indie" game dev
cinema4d is the software that cinebench uses

The thing that renders all of the images?
yknow
i think i should fucking stop learning python for my exam
and fucking study java
yes
Interestingly silly
cinebench is basically a stripped down version of cinema 4d
to benchmark things with its rendering engine
I wonder what benchmarks actually exists for both Windows and Linux and could be used to compare performance between hardware and operating systems
what I'll usually do is make a basic flow graph of the entire game, do a 1st cycle(the first sketch) todo list, a 2nd cycle and a final review
procrastination starts at 2nd cycle

i mean have you seen my first game jam code? its not pretty
idk this is my flowchart
For a stupid game concept
but by then you already had a bare bone, even you gave up the jam you can still rework if you thought of it back in the future
this is some of the most dogshit python code ive written.
better than mine
nothing can be worse than this
just look at mine i wanted to make a fps ultrakill game that has undertale decision route like genocide or whatever
I feel stupid not being able to do they ideas in my head
Whuhhhh
I wonder what kind of model would come out of throwing that at a machine learning algorithm to fit the values in that function but continuously
i feel hopeless and and a failure
that might be interesting ye
Assuming there's some consistent or maximum number of values I think it shouldn't be that hard
Looking very silly
you know you could just made a a variable that holds random fucntions and did 2 lines of if statements
ye i know that now
i feel stupid
the new 2.5 flash image gen is finally released
prepare yourself for more ai image slop
It is actually really good at editing images
