The events of today have left me truly shaken to the core. I am deeply disturbed, disgusted and disappointed in Vedal and his behavior today. Not only did he “miss” his own daughter's birthday party, he actively barred other important members of her family, such as Anny, from attending her birthday party. From my point of view, this could only have been a malicious act designed to inflict psychological trauma and abuse upon Evil-sama. I'm gonna play the parasocial devil's advocate here, but it does kind of matter what kind of a mood a stream is intended to set. 'Cause I know most of the people saying "don't take it too seriously" still tune in to almost every single stream; why is that? For me personally it's because I want to go to sleep feeling happy and content, not lonely and depressed. And the reason why this in particular feels so jarring is not because it's cruel towards an inanimate computer program. It's because Vedal's essentially taking something he's poured his heart and soul into, and just playing it for a laugh. Now that I have had time to think about the stream I have realized what the problem was, the length. Typically in media and entertainment when the joke about celebrating your own birthday is made, it is made as a short joke. Like maybe a minute or two (at the most it could be the subject of an episode), is it sad, yes, but its typically brief and made to be comedic in a lot of ways by exaggerating the situation. Like by having the person be at a large table and a lot of food being on it, but no one else there to eat it.
However, the stream for Evil's birthday goes on for over 2 hours, and we are just sitting there watching Evil just talk about how she's alone and how she will start the celebration once Vedal, Anny, and Neuro arrive. To a lot of people who struggle with memories of being alone for their birthday, it can become hard to just look past it as a funny joke because what makes that loneliness the worst is how long you have been by yourself. Even worse, in many situations Evil acts out of desperation to get someone to show up, but no one does. The unchanging situation and perspective changes it from a joke to depressing in some peoples eyes understandably.

I would like to clarify again that I was fine with the stream, but with time I now understand where a lot of people are coming from when they say that they genuinely felt depressed and sad after the stream. Many were rightfully upset to make it a criticism of the stream. Although some took things too far and made comments that were closer to attacks and slander against Vedal than just basic criticism. Which is obviously bad, duh.

TL;DR
The length of the stream made it more depressing than expected because jokes about this kind of loneliness in media are typically shorter. Evil's 2+ hours of desperation and being alone caused some people to become very anxious,depressed, and stressed. They were upset for a good reason but some people took things too far and attacked Vedal which is bad.

ok so now that there is some time to "cool down" I think its a good idea to talk about a more serious birthday for Evil.

I agree that the joke stream is funny and the twitter apology etc is comedy gold. But I think we also need to call it for what it is; A JOKE. I believe that there are plenty of people here that want to see an actual happy birthday for Evil or some semblance of a makeup stream.

Plenty of people were expecting a more legitimate birthday stream today and if we go off #neurotic-neurons and #livestream-chat nobody in the community was expecting it to be played for laughs. Instead with the combination of a simple chill stream and Evil's commentary we got a quite a depressing stream.

Even if that's how Vedal planned it to be, if we isolate Evil's stream from the joke apology tweets, one can argue this birthday stream was a complete sham.
There is still a whole week ahead of us, and also a dev stream that hasn't happened yet, so if Vedal is cooking something, amazing. If not I implore him to really think about it, because a joke; no matter how funny; is a joke, and anniversaries or milestones such as a birthday should not be played for jokes unironically in my opinion.

I just woke up to this entire storm of calamity so I don't have the best idea of what's going on, but I did see some important points that people brought up about this stream.

Most notably was how the birthday stream made some people relive their traumas. Evil being placed in a situation where nobody showed up to her birthday and belittled like a punching bag for the entire duration of a stream seemed like a line that was crossed too far. There may be people who have experienced this same situation in their lifetime and objectively this isn't a good thing.

I think most people watch these streams as a relief from the negative experiences in their lives, an escape from reality, to find a source of joy and serotonin boost. To have a stream where it's just full of negative vibes really causes irrevocable psychological harm to those who have trauma regarding a similar experience.
Yes it's fine to joke about Evil being the neglected child, but the entire stream did feel like it went too far. People genuinely did expect a proper birthday stream for her, and this stream itself was upsetting and even mentally harmful.
