This is my first deck heavily upgraded from the pre-con when I was new to magic about 9 months ago now.

I am constantly getting new cards and trying them out. Currently found out that there is a card called [[Genesis Ultimatum]] which matches the art of my deck box so I want to play it but every time I look for cuts, every time I get hindered because everything from my point of view has so much synergy and redundancy which makes this deck fun to play.

I prefer land ramp because when I untap I'll have mana compared to artifact ramp which might get board wiped. But I also now have all the support/setup cards that I can change around for when I'm able to spend big on the expensive dragons in the art and foil I want them to be in.

Anyway I'm looking for a pair of seasoned eyes to scrutinize and to give me feedback and cuts (more importantly why so I can learn).

Thanks!!

  • Removing color tag are what I'm thinking of cutting/replacing
  • The Owned category is basically my sideboard but didn't actually use sideboard category for it because it was doing some weird things to the land optimizer
  • Currently I want to put in Bloomvine Regent and Genesis Ultimatum

Look at the top five cards of your library. Put any number of permanent cards from among them onto the battlefield and the rest into your hand. Exile Genesis Ultimatum.

you can probably cut one of your ramp spells for bloomvine

#

i dont really like the copies in this deck since copying legendaries you have to sacrifice one of them from state base action and you got a few legendary dragon

#

maybe cut them for genesis

rough perch
#

like [[Sarkhan, Soul Aflame]], [[Deceptive Frostkite]]?

Sarkhan is fine since the name stays

I do like cheap clones here, because even with the legend rule, it's an Ureni etb trigger, and one Ureni can flip into and get more triggers
[[Encroaching dragonstorm]] is great, I would just allocate some mountains to other basics because even though it's red focused, you are a 3c deck where missing pips can hurt, especially if you're trying to throw an Ultimatum in

And just a warning/precaution for Kindred Discovery. Those draws are not a may trigger. There is a real possibility of drawing out if you don't remove it

#

Also, didn't realize this on first read through, but I would look at adding more dragon. You've got 19 at my count, which while isn't a small count, does make me fearful of missing flips with Ureni and not benefitting from all the support pieces

astral sky
#

you are going to clone, you can either blink or have the non legendary rule clones instead of a cheap clone

#

espeicall ureni triggers on attack you can get multiple triggers in one turn if you get haste

lyric stratus
#

The 2 clones I run are deceptive frostkite and Omnichangeling, because they count as dragons, so at base, Ureni can flip into them and get another spin. At their best, its with a Roaming throne or Miirym to get further advantage that a non legend clone gives on their own.
Comes down to preference really. I like the etb aspect more than the attack trigger, but it's all personal preference

#

With all the playing into etb ping Terror of the Peaks, Dragon Tempest & Warstorm surge, clones run better cause it's an Ureni+flip instead of just an attack flip

I forgot bloomvine only fetches basic forest

#

You need more basic forest if you choose to run it

lyric stratus
#

Oh yea. Prior statement of turn some mountains into island and forests is furthered

rough perch
#

went up to 2, not much but im mostly getting mountains with the basic land fetch lands anyway

astral sky
#

It not enough to run bloomvine as a ramp piece

rough perch
#

im fine with that

2025-04-04

If Bloomvine Regent enters at the same time as one or more other Dragons you control, its triggered ability will trigger for each of those Dragons, including itself.

2025-04-04

As a player casts an omen card, the player chooses whether they cast the card normally or as an Omen.

2025-04-04

An omen card is a creature card in every zone except the stack, as well as while on the stack if not cast as an Omen. Ignore its alternative characteristics in those cases. For example, while it’s in your graveyard, Twinmaw Stormbrood is a white creature card whose mana value is 6. It can’t be the target of the reflexive ability created by Kishla Trawlers’s triggered ability (“…When you do, return target instant or sorcery card from your graveyard to your hand.”).

2025-04-04

When casting a spell as an Omen, use the alternative characteristics and ignore all of the card’s normal characteristics. The spell’s color, mana cost, mana value, and so on are determined by only those alternative characteristics. If the spell leaves the stack, it immediately resumes using its normal characteristics.

2025-04-04

If you cast an omen card as an Omen, use only its alternative characteristics to determine whether it’s legal to cast that spell. For example, if you control Thundermane Dragon (“You may cast creature spells with power 4 or greater from the top of your library.”) and Twinmaw Stormbrood is on top of your library, you can cast Twinmaw Stormbrood, but not Charring Bite.

2025-04-04

If a spell is cast as an Omen, its controller shuffles it into its owner’s library instead of putting it into its owner’s graveyard as it resolves.

2025-04-04

If an Omen spell has one or more targets and all of those targets are illegal when the spell tries to resolve, it won’t resolve. None of its effects will happen, and it will be put into its owner’s graveyard. It won’t be shuffled into its owner’s library.

2025-04-04

If an Omen spell is countered or an effect causes it to otherwise leave the stack, it won’t be shuffled into its owner’s library.
