I've been meaning to introduce my parents to Commander for a while, but I don't know what some simple yet fun commanders could be. I would like to avoid getting them started with precons. Any suggestions?

one of the main reasons I would prefer to build custom is for budget purposes, since I could regulate on what I own and cheaper versions, that I could upgrade if they got into it

I would be introducing them to Magic all together, so if you advice against it, I shall listen to your advice, even though I think the first games I played with my friend when he started were commander games, and he stuck to it and enjoyed it

Commander compounds complexity very fast. 4 players instead of 2, an always available card to worry about, generally more ease of access to card draw and engines, bigger creatures, more board stalls and just a lot more to read. Of course you can learn magic through commander, but how much harder is it to look at my board and understand what's going on when you really should just be learning what lifelink means?
