#EDH - Need help with a Zombie Deck

Been trying to make a mono-black zombie combo deck with a few different ways of generating infinite mana for Exsanguinate to finish the game, but when goldfishing the deck it really isn't working out even without anyone to disrupt my gameplan.

The basic idea I had for the deck was to get a bunch of 2/2 zombies to chump block any potential attackers and sac them for mana and/or card draw until I get my graveyard loops happening

Kinda wondering if I should just start from scratch and maybe opt for a Dimir Zombie commander instead, but Mono-Black is like a snug blanket for me. Was considering both Gisa cards, but opted against them since 5 mana commanders get really expensive when they get removed even once, and since Gisa isn't a Zombie I would need something else on the field to be able to cast Gravecrawler from the yard.

I think my options are:
A) Switch the Zombie Token strat into a self-mill graveyard synergy strat instead
B) Switch to a Dimir Zombie commander like [[Gisa and Geralf]] and start from scratch
C) Just throw in more tutors and combos to make the deck more consistent

Honestly, monoblack zombies is a bit of a handicap. you're losing out on a LOT by excluding blue, even white

#

Dimir zombies are nice but getting enough ramp + card draw can be tricky. Zombies aren't the greatest at doing it themselves (looking at ninjas or elves in comparrision)

adding white makes ramp easier as you have more signets and talismans to help.

white also gives you access to the precon that just came out. There's a lot of good stuff in it. Moreover, you have a lot of REALLY good recursion stuff from white (which seems weird)

I prefer Varina, personally, as she lets you draw more cards to find wincons / answers to your opponents stuff

as long as you have a way to sacrifice creatures (like Phyrexian Altar - or the creatures with exploit) an equiped Zul will untap so you can ressurect creatures again.

otherwise you'd be limited to only ressurecting once per turn, which sucks

Oooh I see! I had it in a [[Vraska, The Silencer]] deck so I was kinda tunnel visioned with it being a tool you put on a deathtouch creature to ping the creatures of enemies 😂
Completely ignored the untap part because I assumed it would only trigger from the creatures of enemies dying. Probably because that has been my only experience with it in the past lol

2 from the original exploit, then 2 from the "when it exploits". 4 in total.

again, you need to make sure that you don't sacrifice Sidisi straight away to her own exploit trigger, you have to let her exploit herself at the end of the chain

i think that's how it works, it works on areana, it's a bit hard to remember

Regarding the monoblack list, some of the suggestions in it are VERY stupid, like [[Xiahou Dun, the One-Eyed]], that one isn't cheap. BUT

if you can turn it into a zombie

then you can loop it with Zul Ashur and make infinite mana - depending if you have enough creatures in the graveyard and casting [[Songs of the Damned]]

one of the strongest lines is:
Dark Ritual > Buried Alive (finding Gravecrawler + Poxwalkers + Warren Soultrader).
Ressurect Warren Soultrader, then return Gravecrawler

Yes some of the more potent zombie commander has a draw engine attached to it

It becomes easier to select draws and graveyard tutors and synergy becomes alot more broken

Would add [[sitcher supplier]] it becomes a very strong mill engine for 1 mana

Cards like entomb are as good as buried alive when you are relying on a 2 card combo

I run [[hero of pyre]] in my zombie deck to tutor for gravecrawler

You sacrifice a zombie token to get 1 cmc zombie which likely to be gravecrawler

[[Grim Servant]] works well for a cheaper tutor especially if you got a lower curve

I think when your key piece infintes are creature based you don't really need to worry about it

I usually only consider buried alive if you got mass reanimation spells or creature with effect from the graveyard

Yeah with gravecrawler and pox is really good

Also you should cut some of the tokens cards that aren't zombies cause it not what this deck is suppose to do

You just need to assemble your combo faster rather than to wall up with zombie token while assembling your combo
