So I originally built a deck around [[Sidar Jabari of Zhalfir]], but I found that it didn’t do much unless I had a very specific engine online. So, I decided to rebuild it around my favorite aspect of his design—Reanimating!
I really like how easily he can bring creatures back, which means I don’t have to worry as much about them dying. Since his reanimation ability triggers off combat damage, I focused on giving him evasion and protection to make sure he can reliably connect and stay on the battlefield. I also included as many ways to give him double strike as I could think of.
As a backup, I’m running [[Haakon, Stromgald Scourge]] as an alternative commander, so I still have a way to reanimate even if Sidar is out of commission. Since I can reliably bring my Knights back, I included cards that reward creatures entering from the graveyard.
I also thought some sacrifice outlets would be useful—not only to double-dip on ETB triggers but also to get creatures into my graveyard faster and get my engine going sooner.
I’m still relatively new to deckbuilding, so I’d really appreciate some feedback! Do I need more protection to ensure Sidar can consistently get his damage trigger? I also added some one-sided board wipes like [[Kindred Dominance]], but I’m unsure if the high CMC is worth it over something like [[Single Combat]], where I could name Sidar instead.
On top of that, if I should tweak the balance of certain effects—like adding more reanimation payoffs, sac outlets, or anything else—let me know! I’m also at 103/100 cards and can’t decide what to cut, so any advice would be super helpful.
Thanks!
