I've had a soft spot in my heart for the Urza's Iron Alliance precon for a while and have made some changes and upgrades to it over the past year. I'm taking a look at a couple of my favorite decks for the new year and would love it if anyone would have any suggestions on card swaps, or perhaps more importantly, changing things around to perhaps add more card draw and protection. In particular, it would be nice to know which cards just don't make sense in there now. Thanks! https://www.moxfield.com/decks/-xaL9xjICkeeB9fUG6q8Uw

- Chief of the Foundry: anthem effects seem mediocre here because very few of your creatures are small (+1/+1 is less impactful the larger your creatures already are). A similar argument can be made for Unctus and Master of Etherium, but they have additional utility or just huge stats.
- Vedalken Humiliator: it's slow, not very synergistic and isn't an artifact.
- Cyberdrive Awakener: you have very few ways of producing noncreature artifacts which makes this a 6 mana 4/4 flyer that hits one opponent for ~8 life on ETB which is okay, but not great.
- Inspiring Statuary: there's very few nonartifacts in the deck to begin with, and a number of them only have colored costs so this seems like it would frequently be worse than a mana rock
- Unwinding Clock: I guess it's pseudo-vigilance, but at 4 mana, it's very over costed. You'd want some more tap effects (or mana sinks for your mana rocks) for this to be good.
Thanks so much! Any suggestions for replacements or changing the mix?

Legendary Artifact — Vehicle
,
: Draw two cards, then discard a card. Create a 1/1 colorless Pilot creature token with "This creature crews Vehicles as though its power were 2 greater."
Crew 8 (Tap any number of creatures you control with total power 8 or more: This Vehicle becomes an artifact creature until end of turn.)
Shorikai, Genesis Engine can be your commander.

Legendary Artifact Creature — Equipment Jellyfish
You may look at the top card of your library any time.
As long as The Reality Chip is attached to a creature, you may play lands and cast spells from the top of your library.
Reconfigure
(
: Attach to target creature you control; or unattach from a creature. Reconfigure only as a sorcery. While attached, this isn't a creature.)

I'd also replace the One with the Machine with [[traverse eternity]] as it could draw 6 if your commander is out
I'd replace 4 lands with the three guild signets and felwar stone. Given the multiple "you can cast artifacts off the top of your library" youre running, you want to minimize the chance you hit a non-artifact
Id swap out the 3 pathways and the Vesuva persojnally
Thanks! Those are all great suggestions. Quick question on the pathways- would you replace those with basic lands? I usually swap in pathways as one of the first things I do. Is that to enable better basic land tutoring? @silk nacelle
no swap them for mana rocks in this case
Ah ok- thanks
This definitely helps. I’ve been kinda stuck on where the last few opportunities would be. I’ve only been playing since May, so I’m still pretty new at it
Ah welcome to the game!
In general though, I'm not much of a fan of the pathway lands and usually try to use a different type of nonbasic
The fact that they're non-tutorable and only tap for one color makes them quite awkward in anything more than a 2 color deck
Thanks! Yeah I haven’t given them too much thought, especially as I usually just replace 1 basic land with a pathway. I do see your point in a deck like this, with more than 2 colors. You’ve given me lots to think about! 🙂
