So first of all, this isn't janky. The deck and Gitrog can be highly competitive.
But to my suggestion. Regarding Dark Depths, would be good to play [[Vampire Hexmage]] which is a creature that can remove all the counters or you could use it against a planeswalker and other problematic things.
Also it would be smart to half your basics into normal and snow basics which have a different name, which is important for Field of the Dead.
You also may want to reduce the number of basics for another suggestion [[Hermit Druid]] which can easily mill half your deck
