Hey gang, semi deck related question! I have a simic Kruphix deck, all it is is basically simic value engine with alot of just good green blue cards, and some synergies between them ofc. I have been playing it alot lately on spell table and with friends to kinda see what it does and how it goes. The verdict? It's unfun for people to play against. How can I fix this? What should I do to make sure other players are having fun? Im currently thinking of swapping out all simic value creatures for just big do nothing eldrazi the new cards are all sub $1!

Could you show us the decklist so we can have a look on it?
@thin estuary Yes sorry haha
I have to update a few things in it... Ignore the side board and mentally add in 2 more lands and Nyxbloom, Kinnan, basalt
- Fantastic that you were able to come to this mature and reasonable verdict. Though to empathize with the opposition and understand they aren't having a good time.
- My answer, don't play simic value.
Like as sad as that is to say. Commander's like Kruphix, Tatyova, Aesi all just are big value engines that just are bleh to play against.
And that's inherently bc what their commander's enable and do is bleh
I know that's not the answer you probably want. But it's kind of the honest truth.
The other option is to take out the valuable pieces and the synergy and just make the deck worse. But then at that point you are avoiding your commander being an asset.
IDK. I've seen quite a few people just tear up this commander's deck specifically and build something new in it's ashes that's totally different and have a blast.
I don’t think he came around to scrap the deck, if he wants to play it let him
If you want cards to drop that are too oppressive I’d start with the annihilator cards and Vorinclex
Those are just win more cards that don’t really apply to anything aside from keeping your enemies from playing
Same with the old Jin Gitaxias
I think the new Gitaxias is fun because it takes some thought to play around but it’s not unstoppable
Looking at it though this is a pretty high powered deck
Got a ton of value and some very oppressive creatures
I think it’d be cool to lean into more hydras and other eldrazi
Reality smasher would be a cool one to run
Oblivion Sower, Endbringer
Desolation twin is fine I think
But Bane of Bala Ged and artisan of kozilek are rough to deal with
Maybe a hooded hydra instead of a hydra broodmaster?
Several things I want to tell you
(1) I would look into the lands more. There are more dual colored lands you could play in a 2 color decks and also more utility lands you could play.
(2) Also regarding especially the One with the Multiverse and the Reality Chip, I would play some of the MDFC Spells from Zendikar Rising. Those are Spells on the one side and lands on the other. So especially with the Future-Sight-Effects you can play them as a land or cast the spell so it doesnt count to your landdrops. Very useful especially with the amount of mana kruphix generates
(3) Some of the carddraw is a bit weird. I dont like Dictate or Howling Mine, even if Dictate is very flavorful. Rather play something that only benefits you. The idea of repeatable carddraw is still great regarding the amount of X-Spell-carddraw you play, so keep up with that!
(4) The only boardwipes you play Curse of the Swine and maaybe Aethersprouts. Thats not enough especially regarding the amount of mana you got and that your commander is indestructible. Some stuff that I can recommend would be Flood of Tears, Hurkyls Final Meditation, Nevinyrrals Disk, Oblivion Stone and Ezuris Predation. Keep in mind that you still up your removal count here
(5) You use tags yes, but most of the creatures dont have any tag at all. I would change that. Dont forget that some cards can do double duty and I would keep this in mind here too. Aesi for example can ramp and carddraw
I hope these suggestions can be of any help
(6) About the not-being-that-mean-part there are a few heavy hitters in the deck that are just really mean. Jin-Gitaxias, the Eldrazi you get the drill. I would think about replacing your finishers. For example, I like Kogla the Titan Ape or Kamahl, Heart of Krosa. More finishers that finish the game faster and dont lock the board down that hard
I understand that. I know that's not the advice some want to hear. But part of playing commander and brewing is letting go of deck that don't produce games and play patterns you or others like. Like i said. Can you power down the deck, maybe. But this deck doesn't even run half the strongest things in it's colors as is.
Hey gang sorry for late reply been busy
Played the deck today against some people that wanted to see its power and it held its own against a CEDH deck and ended up winning
My current thoughts are pretty equal to what you’ve all said, replace all the value engine cards with less engine based pieces
More colorless eldrazi, not the big 3 but the less valuable fun to play against ones
Crusher , Oblivion Sower, endbringer etc
I think that’s what I should do and I agree with everything you all said !
I can see this deck being annoying and strong but I won't see it go against a cEDH deck. Interesting
