#Deck Brewing General

reread your comments. you just kinda sound rude tbh, and arrogant, also somewhat ignorant despite me saying this is my first deck.
I appreciate your help.
I need two more cuts for [[Celestial Toymaker]]
Legendary Creature — Rogue Artificer
Whenever The Celestial Toymaker attacks, look at the top three cards of your library. Exile any number of them in a face-down pile and the rest in a face-up pile. Defending player chooses one of those piles. Put that pile into your hand.
At the beginning of each end step, each opponent loses 2 life for each spell or ability that caused one or more players to guess or to group cards or permanents into a pile this turn.

Anyone got a [[Cloud, Ex-soldier]] list that Focuses on Job select, For Mirrodin and Living weapon equipment? Wanting to find more to add more to my own
Thoughts, opinions, suggestions? https://moxfield.com/decks/Sr39SoQziEyd926t4x3ndQ
not trying to get involve or start a war, but isnt asking for help basically open to opinion on what to do with the deck direction? I can understand that sometimes social interaction through messages could be interpreted awkwardly and neither side had the best attitude either,,,
looking at the list. i believe i find a lot of things that need cut. whenever you want to hear any of that is up to you
never been a fan of cards like pacifism or arrest in the game of mtg, i dont think those are worth a slot in the 99 especially in mono white that lacks card advantage
whatever powerlevel you plan on playing at, being hellbent is usually not going to be fun
and after getting around the issue on card advantage, it will probably circle back to why aura isnt a popular strategy; due to how easy it is lose everything thing put onto a single/few creatures
you will probably want [[swiftfoot boots]] for bare minimum protection
minor things, not hard to fix
got a start on upgrading my Y'shtola precon
the only things in my Sideboard I don't currently own are Arcane Denial and Curiosity, both of which will be in the mail next week
I'd like to refine the manabase a bit more, just not sure what to grab aside from Shocks, Fetches, and another couple Verges for it
I know there's more I could do, but I'm both fighting my budget for it and unsure what else to look for.
("unsure" insofar as "there's many lists I could reference, but can't decide what to prioritize")
I wanna make a deck that involved spamming out all the lands than make them all come alive and kill the whole board. Is there a good commander that let's me do that? So far the "best" one seems to be the partners of [[kamahl heart of]] and [[akroma, vision of]] but if there's a better one please let me know
Legendary Creature — Human Druid
At the beginning of combat on your turn, creatures you control get +3/+3 and gain trample until end of turn.

: Until end of turn, target land you control becomes a 1/1 Elemental creature with vigilance, indestructible, and haste. It's still a land.
Partner (You can have two commanders if both have partner.)
5/5
Legendary Creature — Angel
Flying, first strike, vigilance, trample
At the beginning of each combat, until end of turn, each other creature you control gets +1/+1 if it has flying, +1/+1 if it has first strike, and so on for double strike, deathtouch, haste, hexproof, indestructible, lifelink, menace, protection, reach, trample, vigilance, and partner.
Partner
6/6
Hear me out, with this pride event pair [[ramos dragon engine]] with [[zenos, yae galvus]] and have tutors for [[door to nothingness]] and a lot of removal spells
Legendary Creature — Human Noble Warrior
My First Friend — When Zenos yae Galvus enters, choose a creature an opponent controls. Until end of turn, creatures other than Zenos yae Galvus and the chosen creature get -2/-2.
When the chosen creature leaves the battlefield, transform Zenos yae Galvus.
4/4
Shinryu, Transcendent Rival
Legendary Creature — Dragon
Flying
As this creature transforms into Shinryu, choose an opponent.
Burning Chains — When the chosen player loses the game, you win the game.
"The heavens are too small a field for our dance. Let us transcend this mortal coil!"

What bracket does this deck belong in? https://moxfield.com/decks/irSW1N44okC4PUYZN6xWPg
Moxfield auto selected bracket 4 idk why
I got a pantlaza precon and I was wondering how I should upgrade it? I’m still new to the game so I’m not great with cards
Hey ya’ll - anyone playing [[Kresh the Bloodbraided]]?
Anyone built [[noctis, prince]] as an equipments deck? And if so any really spicy includes that make it fun?
Legendary Creature — Human Noble
Lifelink
You may cast artifact spells from your graveyard by paying 3 life in addition to paying their other costs. If you cast a spell this way, that artifact enters with a finality counter on it.
Many sacrificed all for the King; so must the King sacrifice himself for all.
4/3
seen it played but it is more on the niche and situational side of things. kinda need a good one sided boardwipe to make the most out of it. or protection so it stays around, get big, and attack with evasion
lot of hoops to make use of its raw power, unless you are doing ozolith then you can do more broken things by keeping the counters even if when it goes away
note that while it gets bigger, it looks for power of the creatures that dies... meaning that -X/-X wouldnt work
unless everything is like a [[!force of savagery]]
hmmm maybe it is a gorgori deck where you want [[unnatural growth]] and gravepact. I dont know if those belongs in the list
Is card advantage good here? I personally don't like War Room but I don't know what to swap it for https://moxfield.com/decks/XzIOFpDEeEaYJaGMT_x_AQ
Thoughts on my newest deck?
I usually play at Bracket 3, and last game a player called me out for my combo. Even though the combo required 3 cards,
Mind you this was him swinging at me for lethal after killing 1 player and the other quit.
Howdy! Can anyone look over this deck please and confirm whether it’s a B2? It’s The Howling Abomination
https://moxfield.com/decks/5uqVGFOJik2wXlHmaWFVdA
I played a game just then and it did its thing and people complained it was a combo deck - but I’ve also had games where I run out of gas and don’t do anything
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Monomon!
so whats wrong with going infinite in bracket 3. what turn was it, and I am curious whats your combo
welcome, I like seeing this stuff at a table because lot of the new cards feels so broken
deck doesnt look b3 but it is possible it can fight against 3
burn decks sometimes get good match ups
and the low to the ground curve means you can get there pretty fast
I was playing bracket 2 - no infinite it was more just an engine . I had Birgi on the field, goblin anarchomancer and Blanka on the field, I cast a past in flame so I was just getting mana value and casting from my small graveyard and from hand plus cantrips
There wasn’t even a 4 card combo just value engines I guess
But he called it a combo deck because it was synergistic
Sometimes it does nothing cause I don’t get the draw I need
Oh yeah storm kiln wasn’t on the field but
exact that
I get what you mean though
Ah hahah okay
Cause I just took it into a bracket 3 and the “bracket 3” jodah went off way quicker then Blanka
Turn or 4 was way too many legendaries
i think bracket 3 is just more consistent
Yeah I reckon
and the game plan
burn when your opponent have much higher life total than other format in itself
is a less optimal strategy
@outer gale What are you looking for with your deck? It looks like a great start. The only immediate cut I could find was [[Dovin's dismissal]]-unless you need it.
Instant
Put up to one target tapped creature on top of its owner's library. You may search your library and/or graveyard for a card named Dovin, Architect of Law, reveal it, and put it into your hand. If you search your library this way, shuffle.
"We're finished here."
To find the planeswalker
i had the planeswalker but cut him cause someone said he was too expensive for what he did, and now im just using it as protection and getting someone's creature off the feild and then killing it with mill
Ok. Prob want to swap it for a path to exile or something cheap when you can
Do you do tutors?
i don't really see anywhere tutors would go persay, in what i can see given what the deck is based around
[[Urza's saga]] and [[loyal inventor]] can help get the best case artifact for any given game
Enchantment Land — Urza's Saga
(As this Saga enters and after your draw step, add a lore counter. Sacrifice after III.)
I — This Saga gains "
: Add
."
II — This Saga gains "
,
: Create a 0/0 colorless Construct artifact creature token with 'This token gets +1/+1 for each artifact you control.'"
III — Search your library for an artifact card with mana cost
or
, put it onto the battlefield, then shuffle.
Sol ring/altar of the brood for urzas
Would also drop Alquist Proft if you dont have any more ways to get clues or mass colored mana
I ask because playing with tutors does make you have to memorize your deck somewhat and some groups don't like them.
wouldn't mesmeric orb be better to get rid of then brood, and do i produce enough mana to get rid of sol ring?
You get it on the battlefield from your deck
Mesmorb costs 2, so you can't get it with urza
Oh you mean cuts
ye
I would keep all 3
Cause you got so many mill+ replacement effects a ton of ping mill is prob better than mass mill.
Mindcrank would go before any of those
so with your thinking what 2 cards do you think i should drop to have those tutors? i have alquist cause with 2 investigate counters can give me a bunch of mana and cards if i need them
Still Proft. He only makes one clue and he can't use it when you play him. I personally don't like talisman of progress, urza'd be a good swap there
Up to you- I know Urza's is $$
i play on tabletop sim don't ever plan to own this deck, and even if i did id have to save up a considerable sum to buy it anyway
What game
Tabletop simulator
well i added those two tutors, hopefully ill know what to look for cause i can get grind stone and painter's servent with the other
Heh [[Tundra]]
Okie-
Im sure there are some x cost draw spells too if you wind up missing the outlet
Just not the Proft, trust
understandable, now i need someone to playtest the darn deck and tell how it is in play, cause i know ill goof up but thats life
I have tabletop, but it's not installed.
And Im at work 😦
But would
Ill just do the goldfish
Dunno how to make a token on this
Good luck with this, gonna loiter elsewhere. Maybe play later?
i apprecaite the help, and possibly
what deck is this
while authority of the consuls is in no way a bad card... its life gain doesnt really matters for your commander since its not on your turn 99% of the time
although with the stall and [[felidar sovereign]] direction you are going, i guess its enough synergy
Creature — Cat Beast
Vigilance (Attacking doesn't cause this creature to tap.)
Lifelink (Damage dealt by this creature also causes you to gain that much life.)
At the beginning of your upkeep, if you have 40 or more life, you win the game.
It surveys the withering landscape, waiting for a victory only it can see.
4/6
i dont see it being a mill out type of win most of the the time
[[Ghirapur Orrery]] feels odd. is there a specific thing you are trying to do here? like baiting the table to draw more?
Any suggestions for a don andres theif commander deck? On a budget also
I would like to present to the masses my commander deck for the pride event at my LGS this weekend!
https://moxfield.com/decks/Hjs06nXihUKM-obawiPKxQ
https://manabox.app/decks/iGV2xQRgTny3LLwF2_498Q
Went the Living weapon route with cloud
I pulled a Vivi, but I don’t want to just do the regular old Vivi deck, comboing off really quickly, I want to do something unique- any cool ideas? I’m also open to having niv mizzet parun or visionary as a commander (I own both) but I want a unique idea rather than generic counterspells and burn spells
all izzet spells in the deck?
Maybe
My friend gave me the idea of doing balmor battlemage captain as the commander
Turn it into a green deck XD
With the new change to Vehicles being your commander has anyone brewed much yet?
I was looking at doing a blue artifiact affinity deck with The Prima Vista as my commander to start.
[[balmor battlemage ]]
[[The Prima Vista]]
Legendary Artifact — Vehicle
Flying
Whenever you cast a noncreature spell, if at least four mana was spent to cast it, The Prima Vista becomes an artifact creature until end of turn.
Crew 2 (Tap any number of creatures you control with total power 2 or more: This Vehicle becomes an artifact creature until end of turn.)

Do yall think it’s worth it to run exotic orchard in a rakdos deck? I don’t have enough good dual lands that enter untapped and don’t want to just run basics to fill the difference. You think the odds of playing against 3 players that one of them has red or black is pretty good?
Whats a good amount of lands and ramp for a landfall deck as a base line??
Like small big Rampspells and so on.
Thanks : )
Id run it
Awaken the woods can be devastating in a landfall deck and let you dump your mana pool for a ton of triggers

hey guys i am still kinda new to magic i have played only for couple of months now and recently i discovered yuriko i am really intrigued about her and i would like to make a deck around her. i made a skeleton of the deck, still not sure about the whole deck building i thing the synergy or consistency may not be there, still i want to keep it kind of budget to not splash out a ton of money for the deck maybe upgrade in future. i would be very happy if someone could maybe give me some insight or help me with this deck. https://archidekt.com/decks/14320308/yuffie
Not sure if i should ask this here or in general but what would be the cheaper option of upgrading out of scrappy survivors or science! Precons
Hello about to purchase this deck for my girlfriend thats new to magic and wanted a bunny themed deck. Can someone look over real quick before i buy?
Ordered a copy of [[Rikku]] the other day, now I just gotta figure out where to fit it in my Grixis Proliferate deck lol (https://archidekt.com/decks/88461/the_phyrexian_undead)
Thinking of maybe cutting Body Launderer for it? At the very least, I'd prefer to be cutting a 4-drop I think
Marchesa, the Black Rose - Commander deck
+1/+1 Counters • Proliferate • Sacrifice • Fling
(1) Commander • (10) Card Advantage • (9) Counter Value • (32) Land • (2) Mass Disruption • (5) Payoff • (1) Poison • (14) Proliferate • (10) Ramp • (3) Recursion • (6) Sac Outlet • (6) Targeted Disruption • (1) Token Maker
Legendary Creature — Human Artificer
Whenever you put one or more counters on a creature, until end of turn, that creature can't be blocked by creatures your opponents control.
Steal —

Would anyone be able to help me out with my Tifa Extra combats? I am feeling like it is super unfocused and I am struggling! https://moxfield.com/decks/gLTX8ONZzUGqX8sEKZD24Q
Thoughts on this Valgavoth list? Trying to make something to compete with the weekly tournaments at my locals
at a glance, did you not include your planned manabase? I only see mountains and a couple rocks
Land base is sumthin I usually save for later on after I get the rest of the deck planned out, mostly because lands tend to take the longest for me to figure out what I need most
Overall that list is just a rough draft, definitely is gonna need work. 40 mountains is just there as a place holder until I figure out what 40 lands I think would be good for it
How would you guys build this custom commander?
Well its a deterent type of command
[[shared fate]]
card draw are based on APNAP
Genius; this shit will only get funnier
if you want more chaos [[share the spoil]]
Enchantment
When this enchantment enters and whenever an opponent loses the game, exile the top card of each player's library.
During each player's turn, that player may play a land or cast a spell from among cards exiled with this enchantment, and they may spend mana as though it were mana of any color to cast that spell. When they do, exile the top card of their library.
cast trigger my favourite [[possibility storm]] synergy
Enchantment
Whenever a player casts a spell from their hand, that player exiles it, then exiles cards from the top of their library until they exile a card that shares a card type with it. That player may cast that card without paying its mana cost. Then they put all cards exiled with this enchantment on the bottom of their library in a random order.
you essentilly have "chaos spellslinging enchantress"
where you cast no cards from hand and either go hellbent or [[stock up]] type of avoid "draw"ing cards directly
[[noxious revive]] can be casted by any player from shared fate but the top deck is going to another player in order for them to "draw" that card
going some dandan card counting mind game in multiple player
counterspell of choice include [[remand]]
or the one that return the spell to the top deck
end with [[memory journey]] to get extra cast trigger value or just dodging cast from hand directly
note that some of those spells with no downside will basically either never resolve properly
or the player with the least priority will have the best option
since everyone gets a copy of their choice
if 4 copies of a... say path to exile on the stack, but only 1 legal target, then 3 copies will fizzle
so there is no reason to make those copies
in a way
but with more legal target, some could fizzle and some could target new things
lot of mini sub games involve
and if you dont do a lot of those things, you want to consider how to avoid getting targetted [[repeal]] is a removal/protection that has to pick a specific mana value
your opponent can target the same thing you pick to make your spell fizzle but if used in respond to a board wipe, then they may want to save their own instead
i think you really want to reconsider how much your commander can do; like give it limitation on the first/second spell each player cast
otherwise... 30 instant sorcery from 4 decks will be drawing a total 120 cards
and up to 90 copies worth of spells
its lowkey disguised group hug with chaos stapled to it
🏃➡️ gl
one more, forgot about it [[display of power]]
you can design the rest of the 99 weak enough or somehow not work by doing this type of thing
more spells on the stack = more copy and spells that naturally cannot be copied
done yapping... for now
Needing some help on the last cuts on my boros cloud test deck to see if I like this boros equipment commander. It's a more go wide at first then finish off by a big cloud finisher. Ill take any and all suggestions https://moxfield.com/decks/a_NpfVZJM0CIr-Bdk3Hi9Q
Some dimir lover check my scarab god? It's quite high power https://moxfield.com/decks/Cozp9mTBzkKbxDtOyFQiQg
Dump unfinished business imo. Get mantle of the ancients instead
Both are in there
Mantle can't grab a important creature that died
True, your creature heavy
Fire and ice with balisk collar is ur best removal
Could do single combat
Probably the best Voltron removal
Dump frodo
Imo he commander is a secondary option given the decklist, gonna struggle getting the equipment you want. I'd grab fighter class
Take the wastes out and put in basic plains and mountains or you'll struggle with getting both colors each game
Id dump something for aetherspark
It's a goated equipment
Id dump blitzball
Aetherspark also lets you draw
It's already in there...lol
The wastes are placeholder lands till the actual decklist is set so i dont constantly add or remove them
You really didn't look at the decklist...Aetherspark is already in it
Cloud has indestructible on my turn so something that gives people a creature when I can just clear the board via Blasphemous Act is silly
And cloud lives
All board wipes in boros is sorcery speed. Aka my turn. Aka doesn't matter
There's 1 instant speed board wipe
And it isn't really a wipe [[cloud limit break]]
And it has utility
[[final showdown]]
Under rated commander card
It's possible to use it in cedh decks just for the 2 drop ability
Ah
I need cuts not additions
Cut cid
Cut nihiri
Cut stroke of midnight
Cut Dragonfire blade
Cut Loxodon Warhammer
Ur not a sunforger deck so cut
Cut lightning security sergeant
Consider cutting commander plate
White is the removal ur worried about and ur in it
Plenty of swords that are more efficient
Better offensive utility too
[[brotherhood regalia]]
Add
I'd cut akromas will
All the side board instant soceries is going towards a sunforger type build
If you want to wide equipment go with the blue white commander that flys imo
Go*
Id cut aldebert
Cut commanders sphere
Put in the talisman instead
Cut wealth and power
Again, not a spell slinger deck
[[tarrian's soul cleaver]]
[[faithless looting]]
[[kellan]]
Multiple cards match “kellan”, can you be more specific?
[[kellan, the fea blooded]]
No card found for “kellan, the fea blooded”

all the swords are triggers ability ON the equipment

heres the deck list, was thinking of adding cards that does damage to each player but that just might kill everyone
Oh that makes that trash then
it is fire and ice, so at worst, it still draws cards
i am never a big fan of that card for both mechanics and price tag
flavour and art, i like it
i think the lifegain+deathtouch are too good to pass on. unless both ability are not needed i would not cut balisk collar
In my lightning deck basalisk collar is still good because of first strike and deathtouch then
its just really efficient abilities on a repeatable equipment for its mana cost
the amount of attacks it keeps away and life you can get from it is well worth the mana
i would say at least 20 life on an average game if it was the reason why you didnt get attacked
Hello Everyone,... Anyone Got Any Idea
What archetype of deck i could build with Altanak, the Thrice-Called?
And ofcourse i sadly know that its main synergy card isnt of use here **Say Its Name

Would love to hear if you got an idea on how i could take the deck!
Wish you all a very sweet day!
Building a Grismold deck where the focus is giving out tokens and removing them. I'm having trouble with the last four cards to cut, does anyone have suggestions?
https://moxfield.com/decks/_jyWKBtZOkeFu-I-bPuf_Q
By the comment on say it's name, I assume you're making a commander deck. Only deck I could think of that takes advantage of Altanak itself is getting infinite mana, then getting [[spelunking]] or [[amulet of vigor]] and getting infinite landfall+sacrifice with [[command beacon]] you may need some graveyard protection/yoinks to protect the beacon and some landfall payoffs to close out the game
Doesn't have to be unlimited mana if you have the right landfall. Specific land tutoring will also be useful
which one for 5 mana?
[[galaxy, astral hunter]]
[[goldlust triad]]
[[Goldspan dragon]]
[[rapacious dragon]]
No card found for “galaxy, astral hunter”
Creature — Dragon
Flying
Myriad (Whenever this creature attacks, for each opponent other than defending player, you may create a token copy that's tapped and attacking that player or a planeswalker they control. Exile the tokens at end of combat.)

[[ganax, astral hunter]]
could someone help cut a few creature cards from this deck https://moxfield.com/decks/Z0saQbb-wUuJ0t5ZojefDQ ? im gonna be adding a few more instants sorceries and artifacts (4 instants/sorceries 2 artifacts) and im struggling to find what to cut
Still thinking, but do you use the [[witch's clinic]] ability often enough to keep it?
Over another land, obviously
Also making sure you know the opponent can choose to double the damage they take before adding the additional
Fate unraveler can go, too much mana for what it does. Sophim doesn't work well with your other damage buffs (if you ping for one with him and torbran, the opponent will choose to double then add for 4 instead of add then double for 6)
Ob also doesn't like his 1 damage being touched, he could still be good though if he gets big
Monastery swiftspear should go
Harsh mentor unless you play against some weird combo players (me)
Thats all I got for now
Fate unraveler, Sophim, M Swifty, and H mentor
Ob is not bad. Life loss won't be buffed and... huh... it triggers off of other players' damage. And he's a flying trampler.
Could I get some advice on my Celes Rune Knight deck based around Blink & Archangel Avacyn

Any suggestions on how to make the deck faster? Im new so I don't have older cards.
For standard
working on upgrading a [[willowdusk]] deck, do y'all think its good praxis to run phyrexian mana cards with her so that i can cast a spell, pay life, then add counters that turn? or focus on the tried and true 'pump the deck full of lifelinks, swing, add counters on main phase 2 to someone else as a blocker, rinse repeat alternating for a tall aggro deck'
mayhem devil aint great unless you have a built in sac outlet you can work around imo, i run a valgavoth pretty regularly and you have a lot of the staples i include, though mine is more voltron focused. once valgavoth is out you gotta prepare for him to be removed because he only gets worse for other players. untimely malfunction is definitely a good pick to counter that targeted removal, but some auras or artifacts that return him to the field or give more protection is great. lightning greaves which i see you have is a welcome choice. fellwar stone can be replaced tbh. conquerors flail is an interesting pick but im not sure +2 max for this deck plus interrupt on your turn is worth it. im not certain of the synergy offered by grab the prize is either, considering its not damage on the enemies turn. could always use it to discarda big guy for disentomb or such, but i dont see many recursion effects either. i ran spiteful visions for a long time, myself, but with so many other ways to deal damage to players /without/ giving them more gas in the tank, i found it put me in more hot water than i got benefits from with my own draws. that being said, it all depends on the pod and who youre against. a combo deck would be debilitated by this. additionally, blood artist's lifegain is completely countered by rampaging ferocidon. now, it may be because i run valgavoth in a voltron-y way but i took ferocidons out and added both expedition map and witch's clinic so i can get the much needed lifelink necessary to be a big threat at the table when valgavoth is out
That list isnt up to date
Oh
How does this look to you guys?
https://moxfield.com/decks/WIUdvRbzAU2dMVXBeWmBXQ
I haven't had much success with it and it seems to just piss people off but i like the deck.
"Slapped" together an Ultima, Origin of Oblivion deck this week. It had a good showing on Friday but now to wait for cards to come in to flesh put the rest of the deck.
And you might look at Mono Colorless and think "Great, another Eldrazi deck, but I assure you the only Eldrazi in there is Breaker of Creation"
After [[Reanimate]] and [[Animate Dead]], what's the next best cheap reanimation spell that can cheat a big dragon out of the graveyard?
Enchantment — Aura
Enchant creature card in a graveyard
When this Aura enters, if it's on the battlefield, it loses "enchant creature card in a graveyard" and gains "enchant creature put onto the battlefield with this Aura." Return enchanted creature card to the battlefield under your control and attach this Aura to it. When this Aura leaves the battlefield, that creature's controller sacrifices it.
Enchanted creature gets -1/-0.
[[overpowering attack]] or [[full throttle]] in a [[ureni of the unwritten]] agro deck
Sorcery
Freerunning
(You may cast this spell for its freerunning cost if you dealt combat damage to a player this turn with an Assassin or commander.)
Untap all creatures you control that attacked this turn. If it's your main phase, there is an additional combat phase after this phase, followed by an additional main phase.
What does "cheap" mean to you? 🙂
A big creature could probably handle [[Persist]], and if you have the graveyard for it [[Stitch Together]] is pretty useful.
If you can work with spells that cost 3, there are also a lot of very good options..
Ooh, stitch Together looks good, gotta see how often I can get threshold
question on average if im running slime against humanity and dragons approach in a deck how many of each should i run 10-15 of each?
Commander? Which commander if so?
[[Slimes against humanity]] [[dragon's approach]]
Sorcery
Dragon's Approach deals 3 damage to each opponent. You may exile Dragon's Approach and four cards named Dragon's Approach from your graveyard. If you do, search your library for a Dragon creature card, put it onto the battlefield, then shuffle.
A deck can have any number of cards named Dragon's Approach.
And prob more important what dragon are you getting
ive 2 versions of the deck one with [[Loot, Key to Everything]] and one with [[The Tenth Doctor]] and [[Clara Oswald]] and the dragons are stuff like twin flame tyrant ancient copper and ancient silver mostly
Legendary Creature — Time Lord Doctor
Allons-y! — Whenever you attack, exile cards from the top of your library until you exile a nonland card. Put three time counters on it. If it doesn't have suspend, it gains suspend.
Timey-Wimey —
: Time travel three times. Activate only as a sorcery. (For each suspended card you own and each permanent you control with a time counter on it, you may add or remove a time counter. Then do it two more times.)
3/5
Legendary Creature — Human Advisor
Impossible Girl — If Clara Oswald is your commander, choose a color before the game begins. Clara Oswald is the chosen color.
If a triggered ability of a Doctor you control triggers, that ability triggers an additional time.
Doctor's companion (You can have two commanders if the other is the Doctor.)
2/6
Will get back to you later, but are there any ooze or ooze dragons you are interested in playing?
Besides SAH
im mostly trying to build a spellslinger/storm deck and ive a few copies of both from over the years so im just trying to see if i can get a deck made around chain casting them a bunch will work if its a lost cause its no issue ive just never ran a deck with the can have any number cards
Dual-tribal is really hard to build well without a commander that can help both simultaneously.
If you want to keep the colors and like the doctor stuff I recommend [[the twelfth doctor]] for slimes against humanity. Any copies opponents make will be 0/0's (assuming they had no oozes) Clara works, but some other green doc's companions could be better.
Legendary Creature — Time Lord Doctor
The first spell you cast from anywhere other than your hand each turn has demonstrate. (When you cast that spell, you may copy it. If you do, choose an opponent to also copy it. A copy of a permanent spell becomes a token.)
Whenever you copy a spell, put a +1/+1 counter on The Twelfth Doctor.
4/4
Dragon's approach wants to exile 5 copies at a time, and you need to get 4 in your graveyard for it to work. Focus on either burn or self mill/rummage dragon cheating
No fewer than 15 copies if you want to have a chance at 2 dragons a game. At least 20 would consistently get you at least one fairly early on (especially if you have good draw+discard outlets)
Hey question from my non discord friend. Is there a standard comparable for Torrential Gearhulk - Kaladesh (KLD)
[[Torrential gearhulk]]
Does [[Daring waverider]] work?
No flash and a mana limit, but hits sorceries too
I'll let him know for that one. That looks perfect thank you 🙏
I storm off with those otters in [[orvar the allform]] >:3
Legendary Creature — Shapeshifter
Changeling
Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery spell, if it targets one or more other permanents you control, create a token that's a copy of one of those permanents.
When a spell or ability an opponent controls causes you to discard this card, create a token that's a copy of target permanent.
3/3
No storm, just many otters
Probably a better commander for this. Ramos wants more colors for counters and affinity is typically colorless or low-end pip-wise.
That kind of deck doesn't have the support it needs yet I think. You at most will get two counters (three with a +1 effect) per cast, and many of your artifacts are colorless. It's a hard fix. Ethersworn sphinx is the best card for this idea.
You should add ways to find your affinity Tezzeret and maybe some colored alternatives to a few of your colorless spells
I would build Ramos cascade, but I understand if you aren't interested in that
5c affinity contradicts itself
In a mono green big creatures deck, would you run more mana dorks or spell based ramp? I'm afraid of my dorks getting board wiped before I can cast all my big creatures, or wiped with my creatures with no way to rebuild. But with so many big creatures, my board will be basically empty until later in the game making me the blood bag of the table
The idea is to put counters on him with things like extruder and modular creatures, as well as the new UB mm'menon
There's 12 cards not counting the modular land that give counters, and 3 of the best ones are artifacts so they're easy to find with the amount of artifact pod effects im running
There's also a number of infinite Loops using scrap trawler, myr retriever, and something like Arcbound ravager
The main reason for using ramos, is that he can benefit from Affinity from mycosynth Golem, in addition to the Planeswalker and the new Sami, so there's a lot of Loops I can do with that as well
Originally this was using the new five color spacecraft Commander, but running that many multicolored spells felt really cumbersome, and ultimately resulted in my Affinity plan feeling flat, because reducing the cost of a spell that's primarily colored Pips didn't feel like much of a payoff
There's also chains like scrapyard recombiner into either brightglass gearHulk to grab the ozilith and one of the XX cost artifact creatures, or if I don't have the colored Mana right away, just snag the marketback walker
With either the ozilith or Blaster in play that can usually lead to a win
The recombiner can sacrifice itself to put two counters on Ramos right away, and if I have Blaster out, it enters with an additional counter and puts 6 immediately on Ramos
The only thing I'm not happy with really, is how inconvenient it is to tutor robots given how many of them are in the new set, but that's what all the artifact pod effects are for
Also my early game color fixing feels a little weak
Ok I see now. I blanked on all the modular for some reason 😅 artifact decks can be hard for me to read
Lands. You need more.
I run minimum 35 in 2 color decks.
With the amount of ramp that I am running, I don't feel like I need more lands necessarily, but maybe different ones? It's not that I don't have enough Mana for things it's rather that I just don't have all the colors that I need consistently in the first two to three turns
I still think the gearhulks could be triomes/duallands at least
Sorry, besides cutting a couple nonlands for triomes I don't have much.
No worries lol, I was thinking maybe some more rocks to keep the artifact density high
Fellwar Stone and maybe the dimir and boros talismans
I was really tempted to add a chromatic lantern, but I'm already so high on three drops
The only reason I'm not running more shocks or triomes is because I don't have enough room to also add the fetches
That's the best stuff to get with fetchlands tho
Kill some things with double pips and replace them with slimmer versions or more lands.
Also I only came back to recommend CrLantern
Double pips as in UU, not RU
The only double pips im running don't have functional replacements lol
They're BiS for what they do
MAYBE brightglass, since its just a tutor (albeit a fantastic one)
I dunno, maybe I do just go up one 3 drop with the chromatic lantern
Turn 1 mishra's workshop into chromatic lantern is a pretty solid play lol
Looking to use[[Spider-Man Noir]] as my commander I'm having trouble finding cards that can put +1+1 counters on him. So I asked you people of MTG deck Brew what are some cards that I could use any help would be greatly appreciated.
Legendary Creature — Spider Human Hero
Menace
Whenever a creature you control attacks alone, put a +1/+1 counter on it. Then surveil X, where X is the number of counters on it. (Look at the top X cards of your library, then put any number of them into your graveyard and the rest on top of your library in any order.)
4/4
any ideas for treasure commanders in rakdos
safana looked interesting but then i saw that she doesn't give you the initiative herself and got sad
there are a couple creatures that get +1/+1 counters from things dieing that you could have gain em then kill em off with [[The Ozolith]] out
Legendary Artifact
Whenever a creature you control leaves the battlefield, if it had counters on it, put those counters on The Ozolith.
At the beginning of combat on your turn, if The Ozolith has counters on it, you may move all counters from The Ozolith onto target creature.
As it twists, so does all life around it.
so i’m joining a budget league where the theme this season is “kindred”. we need to make a kindred deck under $27 but it can’t be one of the top 15 kindred types on EDHRec.
Any fun kindreds to build that aren’t super represented? I have a [[Duskana]] bear deck I can cut to make under $27 but wanted to think about other things
Legendary Creature — Bear
When Duskana enters, draw a card for each creature you control with base power and toughness 2/2.
Whenever a creature you control with base power and toughness 2/2 attacks, it gets +3/+3 until end of turn.

oh no that’s like a wurmcoil
that rules
i was thinking about running sphinxes with [[yennett]] or Walls with [[Thantis]]
[[Astarion's thirst]]
Quite a few good colorless options as well
Horses would be a fun build
hydras and horses both sound fun
They made a bird hydra and a lizard hydra. Horse hydra would be freaky but cool. White or boros hydra horse 🐎
https://archidekt.com/decks/14956317/niko_flickering trying to make a stax/control flickering deck. using Nikos shards to make copies of big problems to end the game. plays pretty good so far in goldfish? any suggestions for some end game cards or funny stuff to flicker in azorius?
wanted something that would work without the commander, but benefits from their abilities
What's the combo? Abdel Adrian should be in that section if anything. Also the mass multi-blink spell is sorcery speed, shouldn't be in protection. The removal looks low and very expensive-I recommend adding [[parting gust]]
Instant
Gift a tapped Fish (You may promise an opponent a gift as you cast this spell. If you do, they create a tapped 1/1 blue Fish creature token before its other effects.)
Exile target nontoken creature. If the gift wasn't promised, return that card to the battlefield under its owner's control with a +1/+1 counter on it at the beginning of the next end step.
https://moxfield.com/decks/uWzWh1bwKUCL6YO8dAMCAw looking for any advice on this deck, ideally making it more consistent
Not bad from what I see. What sort of issues do you run into? Draw, removal, durdling, etc..

Foul Rebirth

Sorcery — Adventure
Sacrifice a non-Demon creature. If you do, create a 4/3 white and black Vampire Demon creature token with flying.
Mostly draw and sometimes in play tests I struggle to get any tokens out to start with, these are cool suggestions though I haven't seen these before
My first time building a deck so im trying to get a good balance
Better start than I had. Might toss some more ideas at you in a bit.
Cool I appreciate the help!
[[Collector's vault]] [[Reckoner Bankbuster]] [[skullport merchant]] are a few great repeatable draw/cycle cards that make some treasures on top
Artifact — Vehicle
This Vehicle enters with three charge counters on it.

I did it
I combed through my list of bulk and found that I'm only 20~ cards short of playables for Edgin
I'm going to cannibalize Osgir and see if there's any cards there
Building a budget commander deck around [Yennett] that is sphinx based with a bunch of high mana payoffs like Patgrazer of Ulamog. What are some Esper instants/sorceries that I should put in at lower mana costs to support getting the commander and big fellas out?
[[yennett]]
do you have a preliminary list?
otherwise you might accidentally get recommendations for cards you already considered
Right now it’s basically just Blur, Essence Flux, and Opt. I’m starting by building a “this could work” list that will be way over budget ($27) and card amount (100) and then paring down from
there
it’s 140 cards right now but obviously will pare down
the only constraints are the $27 budget and that it needs to be “sphinx based” (we are all doing lesser used tribals)
all of the “esper staples” pages i’ve seen list things like mox diamond and fierce guardianship and rhystic and bowmasters
were you able to check the budget EDHREC page for Yennet? maybe that might help point you in the right direction https://edhrec.com/commanders/yennett-cryptic-sovereign/budget
one card that isnt on here that i really like as a ramp spell is [[Copy Land]]
oooh nice
How would you feel playing against this deck?
I am looking for a new deck and want opinons on how it would feel to play against this deck.
Goal is to get 8 mana (4 land 4 treasure) on turn 4 and cast a cascade spell to go from there.
I play fast so I am not worried about cascade
Been loving the Counter Intelligence precon, gonna keep building around [[Inspirit, Flagship Vessel]] for it
Legendary Artifact — Spacecraft
Station (Tap another creature you control: Put charge counters equal to its power on this Spacecraft. Station only as a sorcery. It's an artifact creature at 8+.)
STATION 1+
At the beginning of combat on your turn, put your choice of a +1/+1 counter or two charge counters on up to one other target artifact.
STATION 8+
Flying
Other artifacts you control have hexproof and indestructible.
5/5
Strong choice maybe not but i just adore it for some reason
Did just a couple playtests. Fair and fun from what I could tell. Note that the eldrazi in "protection" only protects itself. It would probably help to have a bit more to disourage blocks.
[[Infiltrator lens]]
[[Basalisk collar]]
The opponent with the most life typically has a decent defense by turn 3
Been playing a heavily upgraded bracket 3 version since most of my local scene doesn't do bracket 4/5 a lot.
Very fun deck! Heres my list!
I’ve decided I want to make one of these two for my next Boros commander, not sure which one to pick though. Anyone have experience or opinions?
Obviously one is Boris Big Noncreatures and the other is more tokens focused, although I can see artifact reanimation being strong too for Field Historian
I’d say the first one, it gives you more of a long term advantage as long as it’s alive and the reanimation would hold much more handy in the long run with certain cards, however if you don’t want that and want more idle gain just have them both for the funny with the first as your commander
hello wonderful people, can i have one of you look over my decklist and see if its ship worthy?
I recommend dropping the Kembas for a couple more lands. Looks pretty good.
do you have any other suggestions?
Hi guys, I'm looking at building a deck with [[barrowin of clan undurr]] as the commander. Of course, itll contain all the venture cards but I'm wanting to do a Cleric subtheme, what are everyone's favourite Cleric creatures?
I would swap heartseeker for [[Sword of wealth and power]]
Artifact — Equipment
Equipped creature gets +2/+2 and has protection from instants and from sorceries.

[[Dusk rose reliquary]] and Ashnod's Altar are a couple good ways to flip Cat daddy with added benefit. Honestly good Cat levels, but not enough Dads.
For lands:
Heath is probably not necessary until you find a couple more non-basic plains. High market is clever-but can be cut for a basic if you run into color issues.
Actually could use more of both Cats and Dads

If I could get some additions or subtraction suggestions for this deck?
I am new to Commander and looking for help building my first deck. Where should I go to get advice?
You could make a new thread-or just ask here/in the commander chat. Best way to start is a precon or thinking about what sort of things you would like to do in a game.
Take Shambling suit out. [[Ioreth of the healing house]] is at minimum a mana dork/vigilance for your biggest hitter, and at best can untap two legendary creatures for value
From talking to people, I am looking at artifact control/combo.
The leading contender is Gandalf the White.
why have i not seen this card before
I made a thread. https://discord.com/channels/574711449566445603/1406469446788448357
There are a lot of cool untap creatures. This is the only legendary one, and I think there aren't any artifact creatures. [[thousand year elixir]] [[unwinding clock]] there's another one that taps two artifacts to untap one.
Ioreth is a bit slow without haste, but definitely underrated imo
Yo guys i m tryina build my first commander, i have 2 precons (Dr Who Daleks and Terra) and ordered some singles, Commander will be Isshin, any suggestion on what to put in?
Hey all, made a Trazyn deck and am wondering if anyone disagrees with my choices. Looking for it to be a Bracket 3 atm but open to ideas for ways to make it more consistent https://moxfield.com/decks/eL31urAbbESt6hJvgey1aw
https://manabox.app/decks/1QSoarJMTCirlNyH7qg_jQ
From what I was told previously it mostly just needs extra draws and better removal, so looking for cuts atm
Myriad is fun, just know how it works when copied. The big D&D d20 dragons and mobilize are great too! You will want to keep an eye out for firebending cards coming in a bit from Avatar. Don't neglect lands, removal, and protection!
The swords are common includes as well [[sword of fire and ice]] [[sword of war and peace]] [[sword of feast and famine]] etc..
nvm it's a damage trigger, mb
Check and see if throne of death's ability can be used by Trazyn. If not prob cut it. [[buried alive]] is a better rate or more redundancy for disciples of Gix
I would also slot in more multi-mana rocks to make your untap combos more available. [[thran dynamo]]
Seems almost too strong? definitely emphasize your reliance on the graveyard before playing.
Maybe cut Basri Ket. Lulu doesn't allow the creature to attack because it will be tapped, would be better if it was a may, but mana to proliferate is good. Sheltering ancient is cute and good-keep it. I would drop the talismans for land ramp, but that's a personal preference. D Verdict can probably go? won't your opponents have counters too? Have you considered [[cankerbloom]] [[flux channeler]] [[Tromell, Seymour's butler]]?
Legendary Creature — Elf Advisor
Each other nontoken creature you control enters with an additional +1/+1 counter on it.
,
: Proliferate X times, where X is the number of nontoken creatures you control that entered this turn. (To proliferate, choose any number of permanents and/or players, then give each another counter of each kind already there.)
2/3
Throne of death is mostly to play as it cant be used by trazyn, but will look at cutting it.
Buried alive i think I was hesitant because I dont have 3 creatures here that work as a win, but I think [[palladium myr]] works with [[pili-pala]] and [[walking ballista]], as it goes mana positive by 1, so yeah will swap those in thanks for the tip will add buried alive
For removals rn i have some and i ordered Hero's downfall, go for the throat, murder and cut down i think
- white auracite, sephirot s intervention and overkill from ff and like 2 from dr who
I was also thinking about 1 or 2 boardwipes like wrath of god, Farewell or the one with 3 colors
As for the equips idk i have the boots but i wanted something not too expensive, ima check the sword u said
equipments are absolutely not necessary for that commander to work, and the swords I mentioned are mostly pet cards that are rather expensive for what they do.
[[split up]] is good if you plan to swing out on the regular
keep forgetting it's creatures only. Still, nasty combo
i was thinking about getting sephirot but my budget is gonna end with him lmao
tho if the myryad tokens death trigger his effect is not such a bad idea
given that isshin doubles them
also dark ritual shouldn t be a bad idea
also do u know some 1/2 cost mana rocks aside arcane signet?
i m also playing lightning and the white cloud
Trying to do something with this. The deck is a lot of looting and artifact tutors, how does it win?
D Verdict is on it's way out already, was thinking [[Sunfall]] as a replacement
Myriad copies are exiled at end of combat, so you would need a sacrifice outlet too. Good for value, but usually not for closing games. You don't get any copies in a 1v1. Mobilize from dragons of tarkyr does sacrifice tho
What if while attacking with Seph I sack 2 myriaded tokens? (Sacrifice 1×2 cuz isshin doubles)
If you still have 3 opponents and Ishin, you make 1 copy for each other opponent 2 times (total 4). Sac 4 to [[Ashnod's Altar]] for 8 mana and 4 death triggers. (Takes a lot to line up, but even with part of this getting removed is pretty good)
Looking for more stuff for [[Inspirit, Flagship Vessel]] mainly stuff with p/t = how many artifacts I control type effects. So far it's got 5 like that: [[Bronse Guardian]], [[Thousand moons smithy]], [[Simulacram Synthesizer]], [[Machinist Arsenal]] and [[Mendicant core, Guidelight]]

I don t have an ashnod altar sad
Aslo, today i played some Davros, still super fun
I wanted to try a "meta" deck after playing a mono black skeletons deck for some time. I am currently using this one on Arena: https://www.mtggoldfish.com/archetype/standard-mono-black-midrange-woe#paper
But then I saw this one: https://mtgdecks.net/Standard/mono-black-demons-2-decklist-by-numbskull-2574772
And it seems more cohesive.
Am I right to assume the second one is the better deck?
How many planeswalkers do yall normally put in your superfriends deck
I am a new player. My play group has challenged me to play a quicker deck that wins using combat damage, since I generally like slower, controlled combo wins. However, I think that this is probably too strong. Technically, it is Bracket 2, but it does not seem to play like it. I am looking for feedback on if my gut reaction is correct.
Firstly, Jeska enters with 0 loyalty counters and dies
Unless you have her as a backup commander and a replacement card
Does More Than Meets the Eye not count as casting your commander?
Ohhh, I thought it had to be her being cast, my b
It counts
Ok. Looks answerable. Slicer tends to draw a lot of agro, and your creature count is low. They should be able to deal with you if they band up and ignore Slicer for a couple turns.
Are there any wierd combos I'm missing? If not it should be good for 2 I think.
There are no intended crazy combos, just pedal to the metal.
There are some cheap free sac outlets in black. Can't remember the names, but should be easy to look up.
whats a good way to make sure the deck im building isnt way stronger than i want it to be?
Generally, if you're new and facing experienced players, it shouldn't be a problem. It comes with practice too. Ask to play with decks others have made. Learn what you do and don't like about certain play patterns. This goes for all constructed games. Be forgiving; understand if you flood on lands that it may not happen the next game and shuffle well!
Another way to know if you're trying too hard in commander is to look at the bracket system and game changers. Look it up. Ask what your group plays and see if you need to match their league.
Or just post a deck list here ;P
[[Urza's saga]] and most Urzas create tokens with this effect

Sorta $$ tho
I would personally run a bunch of red land destruction that allows opponents to search for a replacement. If they don't have basics, too bad ;P
I wanted to build her, but forced searching is tricky to make work.
For clarity: Isshin doubles attack triggers, not triggers of attacking creatures. The only Sephiroth triggers that would be copied are Fabled SOLDIER's sac on attack and Fallen Hero's counter placement trigger. The drain effect itself will never be copied by Isshin.
Think [[Uzra Lord high Artificer]] be good too?
Legendary Creature — Human Artificer
When Urza enters, create a 0/0 colorless Construct artifact creature token with "This token gets +1/+1 for each artifact you control."

$41.68 • €49.20
$71.69 • €68.60
May be too good. Depends on how and where you use it.
Some people use it as an infinite mana outlet and cast their deck
thanks, but i feel like that didnt really address my question at all
ive played a lot of commander and ive built a few decks so far, what i struggle with isnt playing the game its building decks that arent too strong for my playgroup
thats why i was asking
I MIGHT grab saga, thinking maybe 5 of those effects I'm looking for is a decently good amount, especially with 2 being repeatable
Usually iffy on sagas but getting to make a Construct and tutor a 1 or 0 cost thing is really good for this deck
Would have to see some decks. Still, using your friends' decks would help. And you can always nerf yourself with deckbuilding restrictions. (This deck only has lands and creatures, this deck has no creature cards, my commander is [[yargle and multani]])
yeah i think deckbuilding restrictions are a good idea. im wondering what would be some good restrictions
only creatures and lands is a good one but i already have a deck with that restriction and it happens to also be my strongest deck 💀
U saga can go in most decks. Good investment imo.
Mmm
I once saw a dude at my locals with a deck but all his creatures had 0 Power
Aside from that the whole thing was Bounce and Lifegain
thats a really cool gimmick
Oh no, it was purely a gimmick deck, dude literally never attacked
Oh
Just block, Bounce and got life
i really like companions in commander because they already have built in restrictions, but the deck i wanna build is mono red and theres no mono red companion
Funnily enough, he was the main guy keeping Atraxa off field
commander but only cards whose name starts with 'M'
i chose m so i could play mountains
Maxtraxa
Murza's Saga
there's about 200-250 cards in red that start with M
so i guess that would be barely enough for a deck
i guess it could be myr tribal xd
Huh
myr
[[Myr Battlesphere]]
Artifact Creature — Myr Construct
When this creature enters, create four 1/1 colorless Myr artifact creature tokens.
Whenever this creature attacks, you may tap X untapped Myr you control. If you do, this creature gets +X/+0 until end of turn and deals X damage to the player or planeswalker it's attacking.

Monstrous rage
You can use the almighty Myr ball
Kinda tempted to remake Bello but add in tribal stuff since everything he animates becomes an elemental
Cool
Ye, have roaming throne double trigger stuff it normally cant
i realized i was only looking at creatures. theres actually closer to 400 cards in the red color identity that start with the letter M
so that restriction could actually probably work funnily enough
What do you search to find that
Hmm
anyway, ill go schleep now, ill think about it later, bye
Ty
I think playing signet sol ring and 2/3 talisman is enough right?
I also plan on putting white auracite and catch a fish
Fun thing is i decided to build isshin cuz i love the lightning proxy but i usually play commanders that have the green
I don t have it T_T
Those are good if you have'm. Command tower, exotic orchard, path of ancestry are all pretty standard.
Yeah precons have them
Good thing terra precon has isshin colors so i can modify it with him
My kros deck came in today, got to play around with it a bit mainly just needs card draw

Oops wrong channel
how many basic/dual lands do you usually run in a 2 color commander deck?
i think if its all basics, thats too many basics, but you probably dont need nearly as much of dual lands as you do in 3 color decks ye?
Hey! I'm building an [[Odric, Lunarch Marshal]] Deck and was wondering if I'm missin any obvious cards? https://moxfield.com/decks/xG-2-cx_BkijRlY9Qh-r6Q
Legendary Creature — Human Soldier
At the beginning of each combat, creatures you control gain first strike until end of turn if a creature you control has first strike. The same is true for flying, deathtouch, double strike, haste, hexproof, indestructible, lifelink, menace, reach, skulk, trample, and vigilance.

Updated my list a bit. Norin stays, but I'm not trying to build a secret commander with him
Rocco does it way better so the Norin support is cut for now
i like at least 1/3 non-basics, try to keep tapped lands below 5 if you dont want to get stuck with tapped mana when you need to play an untapped, otherwise having tapped mana turn after turn can still scale just fine. i have played basic ramp in a 3 colour deck where i had about 30 basics (after half are forest) and it worked just fine with a few mana fixing ramp. no hard rules, just what you can get and personal perference. there are people with like 2 basics in a 2 colour deck, which imo is greedy af
1/3 would be like 13 non basics, 20ish basics and a few utility maybe colourless mana source
i think 30 lands is too little unless you play an extremely aggressive deck
36+/-2 is my usual land count
the 30 i mentioned was alll basics
it was like 6 non basic lands
yeah, 30/36 XD i was too lazy to fix that land base for a one time test deck
it was a 3 colour deck with green ramp
too oppressive so i took it apart within a week or two
i guess ill shooot for 23-25 of each mana symbol
and then just put in as many non basics as that entails
Hello
I’m a xyris player
I’m trying to figure out on what card to remove to add 8 cards in total and that is Runehorn Hellkite, Garruk’s Uprising, fires of yavimaya, overwhelming denial, Oversimplify, Banefire, Nezahal, Primal Tide and finally OBLITTERATE
I known one of the card gonna be remove is naga Flesh for Nezahal
But for the other I don’t know
I need help on deciding on what card to remove from my deck?
[[OBLITTERATE]]
first of all, idk your pod/LGS avg power level/bracket etc, judging from the deck alone... i think it is an amalgamation of pet cards around snakes & serpent. since the 99 only have so much room, you will have to make cut depends on what you need the most. if you increase the avg mana cost, you may end up needing more lands, or play around card draw, but the point is that you can never add everything you want without taking something else away, even if it is another pet card
a pet card?
[[hexdrinker]] for example, can you elaborate why this is in the deck?
a 1 card mana that can be dangoures in early game
I useally bump it up on on a couple of turn
but mostly I like snakes
you play it because you like it, the rest doesnt matter as much since the fun you get from it outweight the cost and reward of the card in the game, i would call it a pet card in this case
i play tons of bad cards in my decks, but i can only put so many in a deck before it no longer function well in a game, so there is a limit of how many i can build into a deck
its not even competitiveness anymore if my deck doesnt work
I see
i havent finished the deck but i will be putting toward a [[progenitus]] commander with [[gyruda doom of depths]] as companion, with the high mana cost and card restriction, it means i will have to find wants to get as many lands and mana fixing in order to play anything at all. decks with lower mana curve usually dont have that same issue and every deck can supposedly run a sol ring
Legendary Creature — Demon Kraken
Companion — Your starting deck contains only cards with even mana values. (If this card is your chosen companion, you may put it into your hand from outside the game for
as a sorcery.)
When Gyruda enters, each player mills four cards. Put a creature card with an even mana value from among the milled cards onto the battlefield under your control.
6/6
also, restrictions breed creativity, so i think it is fine if you want a card in a deck, but you have to evaluate the reasoning behind the card or it would just be a pile of a mess
i dont own a hexdrinker, if i could put it in a deck, i would probably already be running [[loading zone]] or some other counter/proliferate synergy in the deck
Enchantment
If one or more counters would be put on a creature, Spacecraft, or Planet you control, twice that many of each of those kinds of counters are put on it instead.
Warp
(You may cast this card from your hand for its warp cost. Exile this enchantment at the beginning of the next end step, then you may cast it from exile on a later turn.)
and since i usually play at a local "meta" where it is "fair magic" with combat focused decks and nearly no combo wins, i want to keep my creature count somewhat high enough to attack and block, but not a total blow out against a single board wipe

Any suggestions for my Rafiq deck?
Hey everyone!
I'm hoping to group-source some ideas for what to cut from my Isshin list.
I have some of the cards already (Isshin, Shadowfax, Shock Brigade, Dalkovan Packbeasts, Nightblade Brigade, Zurgo's Vanguard, Bone-Cairn Butcher, and Mardu Siegebreaker) and unless they really don't work, I'd like to keep them to reduce the purchase price of the deck and use some fun cards that don't have homes right now.
Any advice or suggestions are welcome and appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Looking for some players opinions - would I be disingenuous calling this a bracket 3 deck?
https://moxfield.com/decks/Xj1khOAfdkCebURirNIMzA
I know MM'menon is pretty strong on his own and is often compared to Urza, I intentionally tried to avoid going really heavy on the whole cheerios thing though, really I built this more because I wanted to make a dumb artifact aggro deck that could use Virulent Silencer well, that evolved into even sillier antics making a spaceships aggro deck, so it literally runs every spacecraft except the Elevator dude that just makes tons of mana, but in general the whole deck was built more with "space vibes" in mind than power. That being said, it does play cost-reducers, Senseis Top, and a fair amount of artifact tutors (that I always use to get fun stuff like big spaceships or Blood Forged Battleaxe) so I just dont want people to feel that I've been dishonest if I use the 3 card combo of Mm'menon + Top + reducer later in the game.
theres also Prologue to Phyresis + Radstorm in the deck, do people consider that a 2-card combo even though it also requires a high storm count?
i wouldnt be opposed to calling it bracket 4 at all but if so I'd probably add some of my fast mana and a couple more, stronger, counterspells if so
Heya folks! Any pioneer heads willing to help me with a home brew? It's got potential, but finding the consistency is the key.
That, and I'm not super up on the meta rn, so my sideboard picks may be whack.
Cheers!

So I just thought about a wheel reanimate commander deck
but what would be the best commander for it?
Im looking for some insight. Ive built this deck trying to play stronger level of edh, but i dont know where to go from here?
its bracket 4 i think im spreading myself too wide in what ive got in the deck maybe going for less different combos more so focus on certain combos to win? (like removing the stell lee combos, even though some of the cards feel good with cormela because theyre just net 2 mana and cycle)
im stuck because i could start proxying and try to bring her into cedh or i could focus more on her and play less generic stuff and make her a solid bracket 4
Sauron maybe

Let me share mine. Though I am not sure how your deck's synergy works (Since i am fairly new to this), have you considered an alternate win-con like [[twinflame]] and [[dualcaster mage]]? I also use [[powerbalance]] and [[possibility storm]]
Enchantment
Whenever a player casts a spell from their hand, that player exiles it, then exiles cards from the top of their library until they exile a card that shares a card type with it. That player may cast that card without paying its mana cost. Then they put all cards exiled with this enchantment on the bottom of their library in a random order.
Here is mine

Scarlet Spider, Ben Reilly - Commander deck

beginner Question:
is there some possibility on moxfield or edhrec or any related site to sort by % of cards owned?
Because a lot of the decks are very hard to build for myself given ... well ... I am a beginner and I kind of like having to build with what I got.
Honestly? Do that
I've put together like, 3 new decks based on cards I just found fitting around in my collection. Once those are put together, you can register them on Moxfield as part of what you own
Then when you look at a new deck, it should tell you which cards you have and don't have
Like dis
Blue check is "You have that specific version", gray check is "You have this but a different version"
hm I guess I can then use this feature to look up interesting decks in general and them compare against my collection.
Hey yall. I am wanting to build a rule zero (I'd be breaking two rules) commander deck with Chandra and nissa as commander partners. My question to yall is two fold: Which Chandra and Nissa do you think pair well? And is there a reliable way to search for cards with art featuring particular characters? Looking to fill the deck with cards featuring the girls.
Oh, I'm also trying to keep it bracket 3 or lower. Don't want to also power creep a deck that is already violating commander rules.
Having nissa means being in green so you already have creature tutors there
It really depends on what kind of cards you're searching for
While Chandra is only red, Nissa has 2 versions that are 2 colors: [[Nissa of Shadowed Boughs]] and [[Nissa Steward of Elements]]
Legendary Planeswalker — Nissa
Landfall — Whenever a land you control enters, put a loyalty counter on Nissa.
+1: Untap target land you control. You may have it become a 3/3 Elemental creature with haste and menace until end of turn. It's still a land.
−5: You may put a creature card with mana value less than or equal to the number of lands you control onto the battlefield from your hand or graveyard with two +1/+1 counters on it.
Loyalty: 4
Legendary Planeswalker — Nissa
+2: Scry 2.
0: Look at the top card of your library. If it's a land card or a creature card with mana value less than or equal to the number of loyalty counters on Nissa, you may put that card onto the battlefield.
−6: Untap up to two target lands you control. They become 5/5 Elemental creatures with flying and haste until end of turn. They're still lands.
Loyalty: X
I'd recommend one of those two, as those give you the most amount of tutors to work with, especially Shadowed
As for pairings for these 2 nissas, for Shadowed there's a lot of synergy with discarding, so [[Chandra Ablaze]] has you covered.
Steward gives you blue, free creatures, and scries for some topdeck fun. All of this can be easily abused with [[chandra flameshaper]]
Legendary Planeswalker — Chandra
+1: Discard a card. If a red card is discarded this way, Chandra deals 4 damage to any target.
−2: Each player discards their hand, then draws three cards.
−7: Cast any number of red instant and/or sorcery cards from your graveyard without paying their mana costs.
Loyalty: 5
Legendary Planeswalker — Chandra
+2: Add

. Exile the top three cards of your library. Choose one. You may play that card this turn.
+1: Create a token that's a copy of target creature you control, except it has haste and "At the beginning of the end step, sacrifice this token."
−4: Chandra deals 8 damage divided as you choose among any number of target creatures and/or planeswalkers.
Loyalty: 6
I think you may be misunderstanding me. I'm not looking for the most tutors. I was wanting to search the internet for cards with Chandra or nisss on them. I'd like to feature them on as many cards as possible.
Regarding the color pairing, I would prefer either of the the two color nissas, but I'm still open to ideas there.
Ohhhhhhhhhh okay okay my mistake
Ah here we go
Go on scryfall and use art:chandra and art:nissa
Pulls up every card with the lesbians on them
This changes my thoughts on pairings a little. I still think the pairings I chose earlier are the best ones for those versions, but for the best pair of them all...
[[chandra hope's beacon]] + [[nissa who shakes the world]]
Legendary Planeswalker — Chandra
Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery spell, copy it. You may choose new targets for the copy. This ability triggers only once each turn.
+2: Add two mana in any combination of colors.
+1: Exile the top five cards of your library. Until the end of your next turn, you may cast an instant or sorcery spell from among those exiled cards.
−X: Chandra deals X damage to each of up to two targets.
Loyalty: 5
Legendary Planeswalker — Nissa
Whenever you tap a Forest for mana, add an additional
.
+1: Put three +1/+1 counters on up to one target noncreature land you control. Untap it. It becomes a 0/0 Elemental creature with vigilance and haste that's still a land.
−8: You get an emblem with "Lands you control have indestructible." Search your library for any number of Forest cards, put them onto the battlefield tapped, then shuffle.
Loyalty: 5
Arts depict them being super powerful and they have passive abilities that complement really well
As long as your lands are forests, they add an extra green, so [[yavimaya cradle of growth]] goes hard
Essentially, Nissa ramps you up, and Chandra uses that ramp for big juicy spells
Oh thank you so much! I figured there was a search command, I just didn't know it.
Legendary Creature — Squirrel Warrior
Forestwalk (This creature can't be blocked as long as defending player controls a Forest.)
If one or more tokens would be created under your control, those tokens plus that many 1/1 green Squirrel creature tokens are created instead.
, Sacrifice X Squirrels: Target creature gets +X/-X until end of turn.

Wait shit clicked the wrong channel
If I play [[unstable experiment]] when it says up to one target creature connives can I choose 0 creatures?
i have a deckbuilding question. I want to make a bracket 3 deck but im worried about having "early game" 2 card infinite combos. Im not sure exactly what that means or whether I would have to remove cards that are just generally good in the deck to avoid the situation. two that have come up are toralf + blasphemous act (how early it is is situational to how many creatures are being played) and another is boros reckoner + take up the shield (needs damage to activate, does that make it a 3 card combo because it doesnt go infinite without it or is it two card because I can swing and if it gets blocked use the instant to get infinite lifegain). Either way, even outside of the combos I would want those cards in the deck. What do you guys think?
none of those are 2c infinites
perfectly fine in b3
edhrec specifically calls out blasphemous act + toralf as illegal in bracket 3, i think thats kind of a weird choice which is why i wanted other peoples opinions.
i wouldnt really follow edhrec that closely for this
fair enough. at the same time i can see how it would be annoying if someone got infinite lifegain on turn 4. its not like I would be running tutors for the combo or anythign
brackets are all about vibes and intent
if ur rly concerned u can just take out toralf
i dont know what ur commander is
but personally i wouldnt worry about it too much
if u notice ur getting some feelsbad games from playing the cards u can always take them out later
yeah thats true, its for firesong and sunspeaker so toralf is like one of the best cards in the deck lol
yeah ur 100% fine
@young phoenix do you mean of a commander deck?
Sure, here is one
is that 40 lands
do you have one with no MDFC
Id always run MDFCs in basically any deck that could unless its 5 colors
the untap MDFCs basically cost nothing to put into most decks
it cost $
and they can be land OR spells
so it doesnt help with the 40 lands point you are trying to proof
exactly, they are dynamic, and let you hit 40 lands while having spells when you have excess
It does, because when you need a land they are a land
and most come in untapped if you need it down early
i mean, if you want to bring a gun to a fist fight, no one is going to stop you
and you will probably win that fight
My point has always been that the existence of MDFCs, channel lands, cycling lands, Final Fantasy lands, and strong utility lands makes it very easy to up your land count to 40+, and there is very little drawback to do so with them now.
Flooding is offset by strong utility lands and you limit your chances of mana screw
otherwise, you would need say "play 40 lands, but with 8 MDFCs"
I mean MDFCs are lands
not just "every deck need to run 40 lands"
they do though
Would you calsl this a 0 land deck?
thats not 100 cards singleton
where we going
dont play modern, no idea why there is a basic in sideboard, maybe when they get path'ed by the opponent?
well, to get the point across, i think you need to show a deck that has lands, that can only be played as lands, and still doesnt get consistently flooded
not every deck is going to be playing fetches just because they are the best in the game
not every deck can have T1 ramp nor a T2 play unless they are using 2 drop mana rocks
green with [[bird of paradise]] is the colour identity with the luxury of being one turn ahead of others on an avg game
so most non-green, limited-budget deck are stuck with ramp that are referred as "hot gabage" like that article stated
This feels like an attempt to move the goal posts
there are tons of utility lands that have multiple functions, why would you deliberately not run them?
or they could run more lands, ramp, even green ramp based on that article are considered hot garbage if you have to play one and not have a land to follow it up
because you stating "every decks need to play 40 lands to hit that curve" completely ignore the fact that you are adding MDFCs
MDFCs can bep layed on curve
you didnt say "you need to play MDFC"
MDFCs = lands
this applies to MDFCs too
and we didnt even get to a point of time where MDFC lands with no downside wasnt a thing
so this wont get anywhere
i think it will be hard for you to convince most players to put 40 lands in the 99. and i dont need to explain why i think that
anyone know a good list for a budget mono black zombie deck?
what kinda of budget? commander?
yup, commander! and as for budget, i think maybe around 150-200? i already have a dimir zombie precon that i upgraded by im taking apart for this and it'd be nice if the deck list had some or even a lot of the cards from my deck to save some money haha
oh ic
i usually build from scratch and look for the most bulk/ fun janks i can find
but without the knowledge of a huge card pool it will be a lot more difficult
there is [[gissa the hell raiser]] which isnt too hard to build
Legendary Creature — Human Warlock
Ward—
, Pay 2 life.
Skeletons and Zombies you control get +1/+1 and have menace.
Whenever you commit a crime, create two tapped 2/2 blue and black Zombie Rogue creature tokens. This ability triggers only once each turn. (Targeting opponents, anything they control, and/or cards in their graveyards is a crime.)
4/4
zombie isnt exactly a strong/well supported archetype imo, but with a few good zombie card/ core power house, it is still decent at doing something
liliana planeswalkers usually mentions zombie on them somewhere
while the low cost thingys are more for combos
i have my whole collection up at moxfield if that'd help? idk if theres like a way to search for decklists that include cards from my collection lol
hmm
since there are hardly any mono black precons, i dont think you can use the exact cards to get a full deck
lot of recent zombies go into esper colours as well
i guess you will have to see what cards you already have and what seems to be missing, since having one colour is part of the restrictive fun of deck brewing
if you see multi colour zombie deck, you can narrow it down to cards that can be played in mono black and draw inspiration from there
I want to make [[Jon Irenicus, Shattered One]] and [[Kira, Great Glass Spinner]] work, how? Is there a card that bypasses Kira's counter?
Legendary Creature — Elf Wizard
At the beginning of your end step, target opponent gains control of up to one target creature you control. Put two +1/+1 counters on it and tap it. It's goaded for the rest of the game and it gains "This creature can't be sacrificed." (It attacks each combat if able and attacks a player other than you if able.)
Whenever a creature you own but don't control attacks, you draw a card.
3/3
as simple as [[lightning greave]]
i mean i think the point is he wants to be able to target his own thing
lightning greaves just doubles the problem
there are ways, but not any worth considering i think
read [[kira great glass spinner]]
I see so u mean counter the equip
So any equipment works right
like paradise mantle
yes, just that the greaves are the infamous ones
i am sure kira as a commander would also suggest something on edhrec
the equip that triggers nadu is probably dropped back down in price
what are the things that arent worth mentioning
is it something you can show
I need help
Anyone got a spacecraft deck
Preferably the 5 colored spacecraft in a deck that cares about spamming them
I kinda ignored eoe and now i gotta scramble and slowly grab some piece for my eventual star fleet deck
they've only appeared in 1 set so there's just like
not that many of them
u can basically just make a functional 5c artifact list with infinite guideline station at the helm tho
and just include all the space crafts u want
For now put all the loader tokens and spacecrafts that looked decent into my save for later list
If I play [[unstable experiment]] when it says up to one target creature connives can I choose 0 creatures?
yes, in some older cards, sometimes it is done not just to avoid the scenario where there are no legal targets, it gives the option of not giving a spell any necessary target so it can never fizzle, in case all of it's targets are removed
"up to" means "0 or more"
the irony of "unstable" experiment is meant to be super stable in the game in case where it can fizzle, it also targets the player as well
Help. I want to build a [[slime against humanity]] deck, but I have decision paralysis with which commander to use. 😵💫
I like using [[kutzil malamet exemplar]] to draw cards and keep counters away from slimes
Could also go [[umori the collector]] and lower the cost of your sorceries
Legendary Creature — Ooze
Companion — Each nonland card in your starting deck shares a card type. (If this card is your chosen companion, you may put it into your hand from outside the game for
as a sorcery.)
As Umori enters, choose a card type.
Spells you cast of the chosen type cost
less to cast.
4/5
That plus [[locket of yesterdays]] brings the cost down to just 1 green
A really funny one is [[chatterfang squirrel general]]
Legendary Creature — Squirrel Warrior
Forestwalk (This creature can't be blocked as long as defending player controls a Forest.)
If one or more tokens would be created under your control, those tokens plus that many 1/1 green Squirrel creature tokens are created instead.
, Sacrifice X Squirrels: Target creature gets +X/-X until end of turn.
3/3
Cause when you make a slime, the counters go on the slime AND the squirrel token
I'd considered everything you mentioned except for that last one. I was not aware of that last one.
Yeah. Replacement Effects™ are silly things. It's a good spot for cards like Slime cause it makes chatterfang go kinda crazy
I'm mostly torn between:
- Katilda and Lier: The flashback synergy is really good and the irony of a Humans Matters commander playing "Slime Against Humanity" is just peak design.
- Umori, the Collector: The avatar of the namesake card, synergizing perfectly with both the cost reduction of 30+ sorceries, and comboing with black extirpate effects.
- Illuna, Apex of Wishes: The combo commander. Exile a chunk of cards, hit a combo piece, and now all your ooze cast for more going forward. If the commander ever dies, suddenly a spare ooze is lethal commander damage.
- Flubs, the Fool: An oddly synergistic commander that gets to also play with all of Illuna's toys.
- Storm, Force of Nature: Another very synergist commander that gets all the RUG toys.
- Shalai and Hallar: This is probably the most powerful commander.
- Kutzil, Malamet Exemplar: This is probably the most under rated commander.
- Sovereign Okinec Ahau: The Yang to Kutzil's Yin.
- Jinnie Fay, Jetmir's Second: This is probably the most interesting commander.
I kind of want to steer away from "need the commander out to work and the commander is a threat" so that pushes me away from Storm, Force of Nature, Shalai and Hallar, Sovereign Okinec Ahau, and Jinnie Fay, Jetmir's Second.
Umori, the Collector feels like it'll rarely die, but it's kind of expensive and slow to deploy. Katilda and Lier also has that slow set up vibe.
Flubs, the Fool feels a bit faster, enabling discarding oozes so the first one is larger than a 2/2 and enabling ramp right out the gate. It feeds into itself and lets me play with many of the cards I like in Illuna.
Illuna, Apex of Wishes feels too good. Maybe it's fine, just ramping into the best part of the deck right away, and the 7-10 permanents can give the deck variety. But it could also get stale fast.
Kutzil, Malamet Exemplar is hard to remove, unassuming, but kind of slow to set up.
CHATTERFANG... I hadn't considered that. Are two oozes for the price of one worth playing this instead of anything else?
I really do like the RUG 99 card choices. There's so many "copy this niche spell" effects.
That narrows things down to Flubs or Illuna since you're being pushed away from Storm
I think if I want variety, Flub might be the way to go. And if I want consistency, Illuna might be the way to go.
And which one do you want more? Variety or consistency?
I want to experience it all 😂
Which is why choosing has been so difficult.
Looking at deck lists, all of them look so unique and fun.
Well then how about this: Come up with a 99 you like and go from there
You're in RUG so you're gonna be using one or the other without changing card colours anyway
Heck, I could build both. There's probably going to be a LOT of overlap in the 99, and it might just be 20ish cards different between them,
What are your thoughts on the other commander options for Slimes?
I personally think the best variants are the ones that let you clown around with your graveyard, since Slime doesn't care if they're in graveyard or exile
[[tasigur the golden fang]] comes to mind
My friend would hate me if I played Tasigur, lol. We just convinced him to pick another commander because it was a BUG good-stuff deck that really didn't do anything except play 20 game changers.
I'm really drawn to Illuna and GB for Surgical Extraction effects because of this synergy.
can be paid with either
: Add one mana of any color. (
