It's Sepultura's first full album (they only released an EP a year prior), black metal, very very low quality... It was so low quality the band (who did not know English at the time) used a book dictionary to translate and write the whole entire lyrics again in English, and also didn't tune their guitars (but that is more of laziness)
It's mainly low quality because of how old they were, members were 15-17 years old when this was recorded

It's still considered a good black metal album (don't ask me why I'm not into black metal) so it goes to show you don't need money to make good music

They have a series of three albums from 1998-2001 that are really good

Zao is a rather interesting band

from 2005 onwards none of their original members are still inside

but what was considered the lineup had no original members except the drummer

I think that's why they have a lot of albums

you might notice their demos, their 1996-1997 albums, and their 1998 albums onwards, have different singers

they were quite lucky also

when they got their second vocalist in 1995

Damn, most bands tend to tone it down and become a bit more mainstream as they get older

they had one of the best vocals in the hardcore/metalcore scenes at the time

I just listened to a song of their newest album and it’s the complete opposite

but then their third and current vocalist came and he was far better

well, it is kind of toned down, I do not like their newer stuff as much as their old stuff, but that's mainly due to how music is produced nowadays which I don't like

For me I kind of judge how heavy a band is by how close to “growling” their vocals are

his voice is heavily edited in their newest albums, but to be fair he's probably like 50 or late 40s now

in their 1998/1999 album his voice is barely edited and he sounds like a demon

they actually had a fourth vocalist (making them the only band I know with four vocalists) but he only recorded 3 songs and was mainly in it only for their 2001 tour

I know bands where all the original members left but some eventually came back
