Hey all,

I'm looking to run a server of craftoria that's going to have roughly 10 people on at a time max.

What amound of ram would you suggest would be suitable for this?

I am trying to determine weather I can get a 6gb ram server from apex hosting or if I will need a lot more than 6 and thus self host to save money.

I worked out my budget is a max of £22 a month to spend on a server hosting plan otherwise I will self host as I have 64gb of ram on my rig anyway.

Any insight and suggestions is appreciated

@tidal heath start with hosting on your rig see how it preforms with 6 gigs if your happy with it and dont want the hassle move it over if not add some memory from your rig and maybe one of those 10 players will pitch in down the road to help with hosting

This is... not right.
Personally have served a family world for three, with default of 5GB for the server... which was running on the same machine as one of the player's clients.
Getting into serving larger numbers of players? Look into using Chunky to pregenerate your world (well, I do that even for said family server, and sometimes even for solo worlds), and adding Servercore to your server: https://modrinth.com/mod/servercore
https://modrinth.com/plugin/chunky

The bigger problems will be bugged cross-mod interactions your players will 'find' by just playing the game. It's still not that long into the 1.21 cycle for the modded ecosystem, and, well, seems the big wheel always turns again (A new major MC version arrives) before said entire ecosystem has really squashed all such things.

Of course, it's still heaps of fun for the players and "worth it" for the server admins, or this dance that is the modded ecosytem teetering ontop of the base game would have ended long ago.
Cheers, Enjoy your world(s)/server(s)!

I was told by a server host that 6GB would work early and then upgrading to 8 would likley be required later down the line the more complex contraptions are made. I have hosted abnout 6 or 7 modded servers from All the mods 7,8,9 to enigmatica 6 and 8 on 16GB ram with no hassle, but My worry was if i needed 16GB for this currently smaller pack, because if i do then theres no sense paying for a server
