likely a curseforge thing, yes
Microsoft’s auth servers have been having a bad day… maybe that’s it?
im gonna hope thats it
can you install a vanilla profile using version 1.19.2?
i do. have a vanilla profile i played on earlier today yes
but can you install a new one
ill do 19.2 hold on
im not sure i understand what you mean by a install a new one
curseforge lets you create profiles
either mc or curseforge. try completely closing curseforge and opening it again
if that doesnt fix it, see if you can install 1.19.2 on the vanilla launcher
closing curseforge didnt work earlier
on the last bit, wdym
im sorry that i dont understand so much im a bit tired atm
then its likely a curseforge thing
not in a while no
last time i played i had an issue playing singleplayer where it just flat out crashed and only worked on servers
not sure if that connects to this at all but
you could try another launcher then. https://prismlauncher.org/
if you add the api key from the pins in #all-of-fabric-5 it will work with all of the same compatibility as the CF launcher (but also support modrinth stuff)
okay
Seconding Prism, with one caveat: pay attention to what jvm it's using to launch the game, as you're on a Mac. If it's an "M" chipped mac, I'd recommend using the jvm that the vanilla installer put on your system.
good catch!
Mine is at:
/Users/dd/Library/Application Support/minecraft/runtime/java-runtime-gamma/mac-os-arm64/java-runtime-gamma/jre.bundle/Contents/Home/bin/java
For you the dd near the beginning will be the name of your account on your mac.
I finally got something right, lol. ^^
whats a caveat and a jvm
im not really good at this technical type stuff
if it even is that technical
A "caveat" is an exception or special condition; it's not a technical word.
"jvm" is short for "Java Virtual Machine"... you can think of it as the "engine" at the core of Minecraft, or anything coded in the Java programming language.
Are you on an "M" series mac? (Like, "M1 Air", "M2 Pro", etc?)
If not, you can just ignore all this jvm business, for the most part.
yes this is an air
Apple has been making "Air" models for a long time. The question is, does yours have an "M" chip in it?
To find out, go to "About This Mac"
apple m1
OK 👍
Well, if you decide to try using the Prism launcher, let us know here and we'll try to help.
alright
small heads up: turns out, the vanilla launcher is still pulling down 17.0.8—hence not the bug fix on arm64 that 17.0.9 brings.
yup.
is vanilla broken?
nope; but AoF7 is, if I use the 17.0.8 jvm the vanilla installer pulls down.
It'll start up, but choke on loading a world; didn't try joining a server.
very "neat". glad to hear though
just didn't want to spread bad advice; untill I noticed just now, using the vanilla-installed jvm has always worked. oh well.
it dosent work, it says that it cant search it for backround viruses or something so it cant download it
and im not sure i wanna go onto a new launcher
im kinda like attatched to curseforge in a way
i wanna do whatever i can to make curseforge work
looked more into it, for some reason curseforge is downloading some fake file of minecraft
and just keeps on downloading nomatter where i put the actual minecraft application
so something; god knows what; is downloading a random minecraft application instead of using the ACTUAL minecraft
im sure this will make it easier to find out how to fix
