It's not a command. Spectrum and other mods (bewitchment coffin) allows players to skip the day, night, and set the weather cycle. I personally agree that there should be rules about this but it's the nature of a public server to have all kinds of people and sometimes uncooperative ones. As for the sexting and sensitive topics, it can be annoying when you can't mute/ignore the players (e.g. when they are talking in discord) but it's up to staff to choose what topics are allowed to be discussed on the server. I personally find it annoying to have to mute the whole chat if I want to not see those too. I think social interactions also break with the no chat reports mod, so that's also an annoyance.

i completely agree with the weird conversations especially since ive seen staff do it and its not even that they are on the server they are just spamming in discord aof7 minecraft logs chat and tryna get a rise out of anybody cause they are bored or something. Defo not the right channel or reason to be talking about stuff like that

Hi Hei,
Messing with shared resources, such as the span of day or night, has always been an easy source of friction on the servers, whatever the legit means of effecting them, be it Hex spells, coffins, etc.
Like anything social, one would hope people would always be polite and ask, forewarn, otherwise have an open conversation about their own needs for day, night, certain weather, etc, ahead of taking them.
Except, people don't do this. They use the coffin, then someone sleeps, they use the coffin, sleep, and the cycle repeats for like 10 minutes straight. I think there needs to be a higher majority set for day skipping and sleeping rather than 1-2 people constantly messing with it
As for inappropriate conversations… maybe better to make that a separate post. Specificity helps. It’s not always easy to search for things like that without knowing the specific wording or players involved.
Agreed. It can be annoying. On their own, they are legit uses of the game. Like mining away at the world, it’s a spectrum from “bothers no one”, to “annoying” or rude, to “griefing”.
In other words, it’s a social issue.
If you feel some specific instance(s) have crossed a line, yes, best to raise it with the mods.
So far this post lacks investigate-able specifics*; though an open, general discussion is good to have too.
(* for example, searching “suicide” on EU7 channel gets me no obvious problematic posts. Then again, I’m on mobile atm, and discord seems to have nerfed search on phones)
Got any specific instances? A link to a specific point in the server channel histories?
I’d like to help if I can.
Officer Noodles, I forgot to respond directly to your suggestion about raising the sleep quota… maybe? Raise it too far and then it can be hard for people that have a legitimate in-game need/desire to mess with the day/night cycle or weather.
Really, people need to remember they chose to play in a social context when joining a server and behave accordingly. Ofc, people don’t always do so.
december 13 around 10pm in aof7 eu chat
10pm for… EU timezone? (Discord shows time and date corrected for the user’s time zone)
Adjusting for my own time zone and scanning around...
I see a couple friends making jokes about their own mental health, nothing about other players (the "suicidal thoughts" comment).
The "sexting in chat" meta-comments... I can't see how those began, but I don't see any actual sexting... but then, some comments have been deleted.
There's a few comments that could be considered racy in a kid-safe or sfw context, I suppose. I'd bet that player already got feedback about expected tonal range here (if it's who I think it is, I know of them and they're good/not un-kind peeps, maybe they are used to to more free-flying commentary in other discord servers than what is generally aimed for here)
I don't see any mods (as in moderators) in that chat at that time, but some mod creators, yes.
Players having a convo in the discord server chat—that's always happened from time to time; sometime it's people currently playing just tab-ing out to to discord, finding that easier to "chat" chat and their discord and in-game names don't always match.
I'm open to looking and and discussing anything I might have missed. If you right-click on a post in discord you can get a link to share so we can see exactly what may be upsetting.
I guess whomever deleted their comments said some thing(s) they know crossed line(s).
I'm not sure asking for dick pics is sfw. I mean, as a parent its def not imo.
Holy 🐮, yes that would not be great. Did I miss that or was it one of the deleted comments?
that interaction i talked about was my personal experience when i was online and that was only like 2 days in aof 7 so if thats what i got withing 2 days its crazier how much throughout the weeks its been up it has been
Ah, be fair now... you cut off that Azzy was replying to a deleted comment.
I mean, sure, unprompted what Azzy said was not good.
But I can't see what they were responding too.
Bad luck? It doesn't seem to be like that often now, but I haven't been playing or watching the channels as much recently. I'm sorry, really, you had a bad experience.
I can't specifically remember, but I don't really think that matters.
The whole tone of that convo/night was pretty uncomfortable to multiple people - inc. adults.
I think that's the point trying to be made. Someone asked them to take that sort of thing to DMs etc and the answer was a flat no and something about sub taming.
Nuance can be lost on me because autism so it could be a joke or not but regardless; kink is great, as long as all that are involved are okay with it being discussed/happening because consent. Even jokingly, since no one knows what sort of things people have lived through and their coping mechanisms in a larger group that contains strangers to them.
I think OP just means people should be aware they aren't in a little bubble of just them and their friends having their jokes/sex talks/whatever and their actions can and do make people highly uncomfortable. At least that's how I took it, and I do agree really. I'm 36 so no prude but there's a time and a place lol
it definitely sounds like this is a completely separate issue from the daylight cycle stuff, which is more a discussion out to the server about needs if someone needs it to not be daytime or nighttime
might want to separate the asks here, as the main ask that i can see on my screen is completely unrelated
Understood; that goes two-ways though... it's a social game server, not a school or workplace. Afaik, the more risque comments were cleary not aimed at anyone but the one that deleted posts.
Still, you're right, this server does aim to keep the conversation within tamer bounds generally.
More to the point, I'm sure the one making the risque comments have gotten feed back by now.
I know of them, and they are "good peeps", though certainly used to much freer channels. Agreed, they should have known better when visiting here.
My bad. I suggested that too, then ignored my own suggestion. Sorry.
the inappropriate conduct is definitely a "contact a mod" issue not a "please dont allow this" issue...
the other can be a contact a mod issue if social interaction breaks down and it creates a hostile environment
No negativity intended- at least on my part btw! I had a nsfw mc server with my adult art friends so it's not new, just wholly unexpected for this server and environment. I was just adding my experience of it since it seemed relevant.
ultimately, this suggest seems to be more of a "please helicopter the server interactions 24x7 so i dont have to report things that upset me" ...
(fair)
not saying any of the issues are not issues, but this isnt really the avenue to address them
Eh, suggestions or support aren't bad places for a complaint along the lines of "the general tone is upsetting, and why are mods participating?"
OP was confused about a few things though; no mods involved at that time; and about how people affect the day and weather cycles in-game; so, yeah, this thread was kinda off the mark and combined two different things.
Open discussion is healthy most anytime, though, imho.
(correction, OP didn't say staff was being in-appropriate, that comment followed)
Edit: perhaps there's a further point of confusion: the discord label "Devs & Artists" does not denote "staff". AOF staff is a really small group; the devs and artists that make mods that get included in AoF do get a special label, but it carries no extra authority or empowerment regarding moderating chat.
Everyone should be behaving civilly, regardless of role, of course.
yes. if there is a problem, please bring it up with the mods! (even if you think one of the mods is involved, sometimes it takes someone saying something to tip the "yeah we should do something" in that direction)
eveyone is human, some people need reminding and some mod teams get complacent either due to relationships or something just not seeming bad compared to their day-to-day interactions. its always good to bring it up
gonna be honest, this is kinda funny ONLY because I know Azzy is like this jokingly all the time. They are super super super rarely here. But go to the spectrum discord server and these jokes fill the channels.
So, in my personal opinion, I think Azzy might have gotten too used to speaking like that in their own server and was just kinda instinctual.
Like I said - on my part there's nothing meant by it I was just showing related stuff and saying how unexpected it was in this place (AoF server) expanding on what others were talking about in here lol!
I'm a nsfw artist and all my friends are basically nsfw community members too and we have all got carried away at some point. Though I admit when someone asked it to stop and was just met with no (idk if they knew them or not tho so could have been a joke on both parts like I said I miss social cue's sometimes!) I think it should have stopped there when people expressed discomfort/awkwardness. At any rate I said my bit on it idk what OP or others thinks in the end xD
Simply ban @burnt spoke and 99% of problems will go away.
tbf, I do feel the need to note with that convo that, while I certainly did indulge in it
I didn't actually started
I just casually got hit with a request for an nsfw comm out of left field
Which... is still funny tbh, but certainly bizarre
LMFAO
