#Server lag

I'm running a server with a few of my friends. i've been having server lag as soon as we're loading in chunks with quite a lot of lag when we're 5 players on at the same time. i have tried giving the server 32Gbs of RAM in the server config but as far as i can tell using /spark it's only using a max of 7Gb.

While running the server it's only using max 22% of memory and about 10 to 20% CPU usage

could anyone tell me how to get some better performance?

spark is a performance profiler for Minecraft clients, servers, and proxies.

Hmm... Seems it's entities, but that really isn't too many. So I'm going to assume it's the 2.6GHz processor...

#

Note you probably want to change the view distance setting in this as it's set to 10

It’s a dual cpu running a total of 48 threads so i’m not sure if the GHz should be much of a problem

#

I’ll see if the config works as soon as i get on my pc again but i’ll update once i do

Minecraft performs better based on single core performance. It is not that multihreaded. Its better than it used to be though.

#

Are you saying it's a dual core CPU??? That's ancient and not going to work well

Any way to up the allocated RAM since it’s stuck on 7GB?

Its not ram limited right now... The profile shows its only using 4GB

Oh, gotcha. Yeah not sure a dual core ever had 48 threads haha

As far as i can tell the Lag only really happens when we are exploring. The server keeps giving messages about overload running 40 ms to 300ms behind (400ms is the highest i have seen)

#

Even tho the server is really only using around 20% of it’s overall capacity when it’s lagging the most.
So i’ll try to run the config, see if it gets better. If not i’ll run another 60 sec /spark when it’s at it’s worst.
