Showcasing Official Servers

Hey everyone. ClassicDuff and myself are organising a server showcase to highlight some of the biggest-and-most-modded-builds-and-bases currently on the official servers.

I’ve already spoken with some people but if there’s anything you’ve built or know about that really stands out we’d be grateful if you were able to share the builder’s name and base coordinates here (and perhaps a screenshot). I can then approach whoever the creator is and see whether they’d like their work shown in a video.

In particular it’d be great to showcase large builds, elaborate builds that make use of modded blocks, or heavily modded setups like completed MI bases. Impressive technical stuff would also be great. We’re hoping the videos we make not only show off the servers and encourage more people to join, but also promote AOF in general.

When the tour will be is still TBD but it’ll likely be on backups of the world after the servers get wiped, and we’ll try to organise a timeframe that suits everyone.

Thanks! I wanna do it again but from the start next time, Bella is right in saying that finishing MI can be motivation draining. I really had no reason to finish all these builds but to have a cleaner and more efficient setup.

That time I moved a giant tower because it was off by one block lol. Then I tore the whole thing down anyway a few months later....

We built a race track in the End using Moon rovers

Then I built an Ice race course for boats. (12100, ~, 16500) End

This Piglin Brute spawner farm I built early on was the the inspiration for the Spawn Cave/Mountain. I guess not so much the spawner, but I needed a place to AFK to I built a little hut, and gradually started decorating it.

Speaking of wipe (class A segue that), since it's happening before we had a chance to meet people at their bases, it's probably best to delay the tour a little and try for next weekend instead. Trent has kindly offered to host the pre-wipe worlds for us and it'd be amazing if people wanted to walk us through their builds if we could arrange getting on there at a convenient time for everyone. Unfortunately logging on will be a little more complicated as it's no longer just a matter of clicking the official server icon in game, but we're all nerds here so it shouldn't be too hard.

• For NA server I'm thinking Friday 9 June from 8pm EDT, which is 5pm PDT, and we can linger for a couple of hours to give people a chance to get home from work, have dinner etc
• and for EU around 12pm CEST on Saturday 10 June

While we have the coordinates for the builds shared in this thread (and some others), we don't really know your bases so to do a decent job we really do need you fine people there to help walk us through it - so please do drop by if you can!

We're very grateful to Sacré Bleu (who'sfamiliar with NA) for kindly helping us navigate NA, and it would be a huge help if someone was able to fill a similar role on EU, so please reach out if you're interested.

We'll be using Simple Voice Chat during the tour so please consider installing it to talk, although it's not necessary to have it to access the server.

Seconding the hope that all of you can find some time to join Kmbles, ClassicDuff, and I.

A warning though: FTBChunks has gained insta-client-crash powers when playing on the resurrected world server. Dial 'M' for 'murder-my-MC-now', you might say.
Just remove it from your client and your ‘m’ key will be safe.
Any other map mod should work just fine, as was the case before the last worlds stopped.

The M key thing, though Chunks’ fault, might be teed up by having SVC in which also wants to use ‘m’ by default. So there’s that.

The proximity effect is veddy nice, for voice chat. Today we omitted that effect by using a group.

Thanks so much to everyone on NA who showed us around their bases! I'm absolutely blown away by your builds, and also your generosity in taking the time to log on - thanks so much. The best thing is we got to view a really wide variety of builds, from crazy death stars to intricately detailed re-constructued meteors. So much love was put into that world and I feel so lucky to have had the chance to see it. Was fun, so thanks again 🤓 !
I have to apologise to EU folk as we need to delay that tour. Not only are we just very pooped (5hrs on NA), but the server also isn't ready. If all goes well we'll try for <t:1686477600>, but I'll confirm in here tomorrow.

But I will see about running it from my PC again. I wasn't able to connect last time, but I think the issue was that my internal IP changed after I left for work lol. But I setup remote desktop now so I can change my router settings, etc while I'm away from it so will actually be able to get it working much easier

It seems the EU tour, that was already once re-scheduled to about 45 min from now, is likely going to be put off again. Probably.

There may be some lack of communication; blame it on me!

( Trent has been generous and gone an extra step or more to get the past EU up and ready, props to him. )

I do hope a time will be found that can work for everyone; EU has sights that deserve seeing, and we initially missed some NA stuff, built in the void, during yesterday’s recording.

Let’s hope we can fulfill the full ambition of the original proposal.

Hello to all those exiled from EU, especially @zealous knot and @scenic thicket

@crude fern, @summer hatch and myself (sadly ClassicDuff has to work) are going to be jumping on the old EU server at <t:1686614400>. We'll probably be online for 1-2hrs and would really appreciate anyone willing to log on and show us around their base for the purpose of a world tour video. I'll post the server IP here just before we start.

Apologies for the time - I realise it's not ideal for many, particularly those actually living in Europe. But from what I've gathered from this thread there didn't seem to be many people planning on joining, and a few of you were NA located anyway, so hopefully it still works out.

It would probably be worth removing FTB Chunks from your client, as it has been causing some crashes, and adding Simple Voice Chat if you'd like to talk. You could also add another map mod if you like.

Ah, don't sweat that... do understand people like Kmbles, ClassicDuff and other youtubers have gone through a process of learning and tweaking their audioproduction pipelines (filters, eq-ing, etc) and sometimes even trying different mics and other hardware, to get their voices to sound like that.

@jolly valley The skeleton chickens come from spirit spawners. You just have to breed them to get rid of the glow. Also i may have a rather large terraform project later if your interested in helping out again
