Maybe you can also find out a lot about why this spirit became dark in the first place, and maybe got betrayed by the four existing spirits. A twist like how King Runeard betrayed the Northuldra leader

My idea was that the duke dies and his daughter (Isobel) is tasked with taking over the kingdom (or duchy or whatever) but she is very insecure and fears she will let everyone down. So, she hears about this ancient power and seeks it out to gain some type of powers which will allow her to protect her people. But, like you wrote, this power corrupts her

So why not bring back Hans, add some more history with a bit of Frozen 2 betrayal context
Put more screentime with 2h 23m
And gradually progress with the past, and put up an epic battle scene with Elsa vs Hans
Elsa loses her strength compared to the dark spirit, and then Anna still uses her bravery and courage
Once more punches Hans or does something normal
Distracts him, and Elsa combines all 4 spirits together with her Ice magic
Makes a hybrid 6th spirit and destroys the evil spirit

Or probab him is born with some sort of power (like fire) and him discover that working on the stable. Him ask some question to the family about that and discover why they hate him so much, especially for what him can do. After that, probably him do something to his family and take time for his plan and for kill Anna/Elsa.
