I've been playing Botc for a year now, and I've found that while I really enjoy Botc, I've gotten very bored of playing and Storytelling Trouble Brewing. I feel like Trouble Brewing is the most well balanced script that has been made and is great for new players.

As such, I decided to make Troubles Here. It goal is to be a loyal follower of Trouble brewing, but with some more characters that are interesting as well as briefly introducing the idea of madness. My hope is that new players will be able to try out the game and be introduced to new and exciting players, rather than get a game one washerwoman and not know how to make that interesting.

I would love to get people's thoughts on how this script works, and how it could be made better. Remember, the focus is on being faithful to Trouble Brewing, being easier to play, but also more engaging and interesting.

Also, please let me know if i marked something wrong in the tags. First time posting one of my scripts here

So fool is hard confirmed here. This makes it very strong with Virgin as well, since that makes two hard confirmed players.

#

Nightwatchman actually makes 3

elfin oar
#

why godfather with no other extra death

#

also yeah fool problems

brazen sphinx
#

If you have the Princess nom the fool and then the fool nom the virgin it makes 4

#

This is getting ridiculous.

#

Oh, and with Slayer it can potentially get up to five, but that's less of a problem.

#

Oh yeah, with GF and no deathmod we can also add basically every outsider in a GF game

#

I do agree, there are a lot of roles that can hard confirm

#

But there are quite a few ways to poison or misregister that info

brazen sphinx
#

Not really

elfin oar
#

you cannot misregister fool or nwm

brazen sphinx
#

This is day 1 before evil gets any info

zinc sundial
#

fair

brazen sphinx
#

And also Poisoner+Princess is a really, really bad interaction.

#

So what you can stop is also bad

zinc sundial
#

How so?

elfin oar
#

Poisoner always picks Princess n2

#

the princess has to out themselves to use their ability

zinc sundial
#

that makes a lot of sense

brazen sphinx
#

So yeah, Fool needs to go, Princess probably too

elfin oar
#

again I think improving this will just eventually converge back to tb

brazen sphinx
#

Sticking with the classic TB soldier instead of Fool is a good shout.

brazen sphinx
#

Honestly, if you want to introduce new players to new and exciting characters, play SnV or BMR

zinc sundial
#

Thats fair, but I also feel like theres a lot of complexity that SnV and BMR add for new players

#

to be clear about the situation, we play in a public setting where we usually get a few people who haven't played the game before. This is than mixed with people who have been playing for a while

brazen sphinx
#

This is more complex than SnV or BMR

#

Besides, TB is an amazing for vets. This is a process ever new scriptwriter goes through.

#

It's nearly impossible to modify TB without making it very very bad.

zinc sundial
#

Thats, very fair

#

I do agree that trouble brewing is about as balanced as you could make a script be

brazen sphinx
#

It's the best script ever written, and that's for a reason. There's so much complexity in TB, that it never fails to disappoint.

#

Pies Baking is about as far as you can go without making a TB-like complete garbage, and even then, it's pushing it. Also, do not run Pies Baking or Strings Pulling with newbies

zinc sundial
#

cool

#

what script do you think would be best to run for a game with some long time players and new ones joining in

brazen sphinx
#

TB

#

Eventually you'll be able to split into two games, one running TB and another running something else

zinc sundial
#

Maybe

#

we get a lot of turnover, with some hard core people returning, but with a lot of new people every week

brazen sphinx
#

How many people do you usually have?

zinc sundial
#

depends

#

around 7 who always come

#

with about 4 to 5 new people a week that fluctuate

brazen sphinx
#

It's really going to come down to how many newbies stay

#

Once you hit 16, you can comfortably run two games
