You really have to; active minion abilities can be the difference between a win and a loss. Also it's pretty much mandatory if there's an Imp on the script

Probably Axolator or Quilava

Axolator has a lot of scripts that cover various ground

Quilava is very good at finding interactions. Two good examples are the Minuit engine and Dullahan Under The Willows, which uses Vizier with Boffin and Lleech Lil M

I’m closer friends with Axolator as a person, so I’m biased enough to say she’s my favorite

But Quilava basically invented a whole script genre (Minuit Engine). That’s impressive

To give the serious answer, it's TPI. TB is the closest we will ever get to the perfectly balanced script, and it's by far the most playtested script ever written. BMR is hilarious, and an absolutely amazing ride every time, SnV can be swingy at times, but there are so many great moments I have from playing SnV, and it's still better balanced then almost every custom ever written.

If we're only talking customs, I thought long and hard on it, but I don't think there is a single "best" one. Objectively speaking. Clocktower is such a broad game, and there is so much room for great scripts. Every great scriptwiter has their crowning achievement, and at any given time I might be want to play CC, RtC, TPOT, Minuit, HHR, Boozling, Extension Cord, Catfishing, Night Vision Goggles, Dusk in the House, or even something with glaringly bad interactions. Even the worst of scripts are still great if everyone has fun in my opinion. So this is to say, here's to many more games of clocktower and many more great scripts!
