Not Vat I’m guessing it’s referencing how both of these Demons are ones that make Minions more socially trustworthy. Vigor does that by carving out bluffing space with its Outsider mod and killing Minions, while Kazali does it by giving their Minions free bluffs (Kazali can also choose players they know have a good social game when evil)

Vigor overall works fine to me on a fundamental level but it’s so much more challenging and unintuitive for players to understand compared to Kazali. And Vigor in general is sort of a mess of multiple different abilities in one (what with the dead Minions, fewer Outsiders, and poison on top. Vigor is absolutely built to fill in the design holes in SnV lmao)

PM is also wonky with roles like Lleech or Lil Monsta, which is fine if the script is one demon like them and 3 normal demons, but if at least half of the demons are ones where even a correct puzzleguess is questionable utility for town, the role just becomes strictly super damaging compared to the outsider baseline (especially if there's positive outsider mod in play because you can easily land at something like a Lleech/Baron/Puzzlemaster or Lleech/Godfather+1/Puzzlemaster game where town's info is completely annihilated)

Drunk is at once less and more findable than PM

The puzzledrunk registering as a townsfolk is surprisingly brutal

Okay, as someone who has played homebrews from the start, I kinda get confused and don't understand why a lot of people, especially in recent time are not hugely fond of it. I get the whole I don't want to memorize a new script or being tired in general, especially if the Homebrew is more chaos. Other things I don't get. Like some people just refuse to touch homebrew (which yes, is within their rights), but why? The worst case scenario is a game isn't tested well, and you spent 1-2 hours having a laugh with your friends probably. It's something that's long confused me in general. Like the gap between seeing a base script for the first time, seeing a custom script for the first time, and seeing a hb script for the first time is so large, for what to me seems like no reason. Also, I say this because I think homebrews are cool. They sometimes have characters that can even be cooler than some real characters.

I think shitry reddit homebrew has poisoned the well or something where most people hear the phrase "homebrew" and just think it's either some shitty broken mess or it's incredibly overcomplicated for most players (no shade to FYF, they knew they weren't designing characters for a general audience) & thus they don't want to look at it or give it a chance or anything

And it sucks cause like there's so much good homebrew out there now and there's more on the way

We just need more fun, accessible scripts

The script library supporting homebrew now is a great help towards that

What does "best designed" mean to you

Most balanced, bag-versatile, most consistently arriving at f3/f4 with ~2-4 possible worlds, all good characters should be bluffable by evil in every condition unless the unbluffability is key to the balance of the ability (like a Virgin proccing has to actually be a Virgin, otherwise it would be kinda weak in the context of TB if evil could also replicate that end of the interaction), a unique array of abilities (not a shit ton of overlap), and as many characters as possible should be fun to play as, with, & against

zombuul pretty much needs everything in bmr to make its existence ambiguous, without that its. very very boring and hard to be good

also all the exe protection to let you actually Attack

and at that point this isnt even a custom you’re just playing BMR

Oooo that’s hard. I wouldn’t say I enjoy being Zombuul even in BMR but I did have a much better time being that in BMR than it on customs (which usually do not do enough to hide it nor have enough daytime survival to make attacking at night an actual possibility for most of the game)

Artist is also a good shout above, it’s usually way too strong on customs
