The Land
So the land in question is a not inconsiderable amount, making up roughly half of the Arcadian Empire’s present sise both inland and costally. The previous owner of that territory was a maverick general by the name of Rose Hawthorne, aka ‘Lady Rosslyn’, who had then retired to a life of seeing ’clientele’ alongside her paramour of a common law husband.
When the plagues struck the township of Rosslyn was the epicenter and Rose alongside her husband were killed and presumed dead. Post this martyrdom ‘Lady Rosslyn’ became an even more widely worshiped figure and the patron of the now dominant religion. As such neighboring country of Arcadia seized the land for ‘preservation’, slowly reconquering the outlying settlements and farmland while leaving an area of wilderness and the original ruins intact.
The Will
During an event known as ’The Rosslyn Massacre’ all four of Rosslyn’s children were rescued and reunited, eventually being put alongside another now orphaned princess of the sanctuary country, Rhodinia, in the care of Owen Lockwood a trusted public figure. The now de facto ‘Lord’ Lockwood was the steward of all inheritance both magical and legal belonging to the parents of the five orphans until such could be returned to them.
After his sudden death the Rhodinian court began to process both his will and the original inheritance. In so doing the court found that Owen had attempted several shady actions, namely attempting to will property to the twins which belonged to the princess, alongside trying to arrange a marriage between her and the twins which would have meant them being considered part of Rhodinian royalty.
While the court deliberated they cross examined each child’s original eligibility, finding that, by the Queensname, NONE of the orphans would be guaranteed inheritance with no remaining family or steward in possession of the surname or property giving them that in the holder’s lifetime.
.
The Appeal
Following contestment from the princess’s representative the Rhodinian court revaluated and concluded that, thanks to the vast number of sudden death thanks to the plagues, the prior law should not apply to ’victims of sudden death’.
The Imperial Lawsuit
While the court was in reevaluation representives of the Arcadian Imperial and Charch factions presented their own suits. The Imperial Faction being to discredit the appeal and abide the original ruling, while the Church Faction filed for custody rights to their goddess’s children as living idols.
The Claims
The Imperial Representative put forward that not only should the Queensname stand but that the four children in question had no rights to it in the first place for myriad of reasons, each of which was heard and judged individually for each child.
The Church Representative put forth the opposite, that, reguardless of right, the children would be eligible for inheritance of Queensname with the Church as backer and benefactor.

<~DONE~>
woah
so yeah i'm quite confused, I feel like by the end the orphans have become irrelevant.
I agree. The orphans has a meaning before the court but because almost all of them are denied the inheritance they become irrelevant. Also I'm curios about the Thirteen Certainties. What are they? And how they effect to the case? Also in what law do you base this court?
and if the Arcadian Empire was the governing body of this land, why would they have to through a court case if they are the literal goverment.
the case is taking place in a sanctuary nation, Rhodinia; otherwise Arcadia would have done with the kids a lot sooner.
how so?
them getting denied is the point of the case. An early slight.
The Thirteen Certainties are essentially like ‘Gods Law’ and they take it quite seriously since gods are real in their world. Thats also the reason the kids are even alive, Arcadia had to stop ||assasinating|| unwanted kids because of the last two commandments which happened when the youngest kids were born.
Besides those to (‘Fate’s Laws of Inocents & Harm’) the other one they keep referencing by it is the definition of a ‘being’. The Certainties define it as a being that has heart, mind, soul, and life.
Vampires clack the ‘life’ part, and Mala lack all but ‘mind’. By that the brothers were cast out the case because of the society’s prejudiced. Protag meanwhile was confronted by the same prejudice he faced from on high but that alone wasn’t enough to disprove the fact he does have a viable claim and the right to fight for it one day.

Also sorry for late reply, was getting sick again and had a cough today too 🤕
no prob
This cleared a lot
so what do you two think? Is it a reasonable outcome for a wrong to be done? @past rain @bleak cove
to be fair, i don't quite understand it completely. How exactly does it end?
I think this has a very good start. With more work and backstory it will be amazing
it needs a lot more backstory
and I think if the church was established a lot earlier as a influential power instead of just adding then near the end would help them be more important.
sorry for the delay 😓
Question, what would you mean ‘by the end’? This segment would be included either in Ch1 or like Ch5 if that helps.
this document would be provinging some of the backstory though…
