Adora and Jorhuti 001
..
Steady steps crunched through the brush of the sun-dripped forest. The tiny frame of Adora Lovelace, an elfin rogue clad in red cloak-and-hood, pushed deeper and deeper into the Elder Wood. She stopped and sniffed at the the air and caught a faint whiff of sweat and incense. She was getting closer to her mark. "I'll be upon them before long," she noted to herself.
Upon finding a high bluff in the forest, she spit on her hands and rubbed them together. Adora pulled herself up the face of the cliff, her muscles straining and bulging with effort. Sweat sunk into her undershirt as she squinted her eyes and scrunched her forehead. All in all, she made quick work of it and caught her breath hidden in the trees at the top of the mountain. She crept out to the edge of the cliff where the wind ripped at her cloak and hair, her sharp elfin eyes darting over the breadth of the forest when she spotted them.
A ways away, three reptilian figures, with fluid grace, slid under the shade of the canopy. Saplings shook as they passed. With no time to spare, the half-elf's agile legs carried her down the back of the slope. Several times, she slipped on showers of small rocks but was able to catch herself. As her blizzard scarf kept her cool, she tore through the brush of the forest in a violent blur. Mana seeped out of her body, but she still had enough to confront the invaders.
..
When Adora came across the lizardmen, they were bathing in a pool under large gurgling waterfall. She stood over them on a prominence in the forest and they looked up, distracted by her bright red flag of a cloak. "Do you want us to eat you, man-child?" the brown one with one white eye asked. Adora said nothing. The old green one with a cut-off tail sighed and waded over to their long feathered spears which had been stuck into the ground on the beach at the edge of the water. The blue and the brown lizardmen followed.
Adora approached the three demons on the beach as they brandished their spears with menacing skill. "You are trespassing on the lands of Safe Haven of the Barrier Realm!" the young girl yelled.
"Are we three to be in fear of a child?" Adora appeared to them to be 11 years of age. They moved to encircle her.
"I am the Scion of House Lovelace, breach captain of the Dragon Guard, and I am here to bring you to justice." Adora fingered the silver-and-ivory-encrusted hilt at her hip, keeping her eyes on all three of them.
"Justice? There is no justice in the world," the green one scoffed, his voice raspy with age. His face was etched with deep scars, and his eyes seemed to bore into her as he paced around her.
..
Adora pulled out the hilt. "Justice?" Adora said as she bowed her head. Her left eye began to glow under the lip of her hood. "I am Justice!" With a squeeze of her fist, flicked out a crescent blade. The lizardmen flinched and pounced on her, but she flipped backward and forward and in a violent fury delt with them until but one was just barely standing.
"I've heard of you. I know who you are..." the green one coughed as blood trickled down his rows of sharp teeth. Adora took a few steps and stopped just before him. "Y-you're the Red Devil!" She stayed silent, retracted her crescent blade and put it away. "Bomb-Flower!" Adora lifted the palm towards the wounded lizard. "Have mercy!" he gurgled. Adora squinted her eyes as mana built up in her right hand.
"There's no mercy for demons." She squeezed the mana in her hand.

A sharp blast echoed through the tranquil corridors of the Elder Wood. A flock of birds frantically took to the air and small creatures ducked under cover. In the distance, a column of black smoke spewed into the azure sky, darkening a day which had otherwise been holy.
This is a pretty decent beginning. There’s a good build-up and keeps a good pace.
I like it. Descriptive and intriguing. Are you working on this any further or is this all that you have written?
