for anyone who seen this in their DegreeWorks can u guide me step to step how to fulfill this requirement? I clicked “What-Ifs” and selected FS: Psychology but it showed me that psychology (15000) is already fulfilled so should I choose something else or is it fine? Also it brought up a new list of Pluralism and Diversity Requirement, so do I need to enroll in those classes to fulfill the focus study?

How To Fulfill Hunter Focus Concentrated Study?
Pluralism and Diversity is a gen ed course. So you have to complete them to graduate
You only get to see what you actually need once you declare
The what if section gives you a rundown of the courses that are needed if you declare a desired major
Ik I already completed it in the “Academic” section of DegreeWorks, but in the What-If section after choose a FS it just showed these extra pluralism and diversity which makes no sense
Also is it fine if I declare a FS but I already took the class in the FS previously? Like for community health FS it says I already took Soc 301 is that ok or do I need to choose another
If it says it's already completed then it's completed
Sometimes one course can fulfill multiple requirements
I guess then your major requires more
I don't really know cause I am in bio and cs
^?
What is FS?
I should probably do a disclaimer that I dont know much just answering based on my experiences 😭
if u entered hunter in fall 2024 or later focus on the new list
if not do the old list
is that the concentration thing?
basically if you’ve done some FL or have it waived
u do random courses in one department
oooh so doing courses in a department that is not aligned on the coursework is FS?
explain again
huh? I dont know what FS is, I thought thats what you meant
R u sure? Bc in DegreeWorks it says “REMINDER: FS cannot share courses with Major 1”
And SOC 30100 is under human biology body mind and health
I just wanted to confirm
I didn’t enter Hunter in 2024 or later
Basically I took the first level of my language class in a different school and it’s not counted under Hunter focus
So I need a 3 cr Hunter focus concentrated study, but I’m confused on what I can or should not pick
I don’t want a second major or a minor btw
I just want this requirement fulfilled but idek how to do tht
u can do a humanities
Not a FS option
oh really?
yeah but I wanted to do community health since it kinda aligns with my interest but the issue is that it says I alr completed a class in that section (which is from my major), so I’m not sure if it’s ok to choose it or not because it says “FS cannot share courses with Major 1”
does tht mean I can pick anything? Even something not related to my interest ?
yes
just can’t be ur major courses
oh right
And do I ignore the pluralism and diversity requirement that popped up in the what if section and just focus on the focus study requirement class?
Do you mean that I can’t pick a FS that is already fulfilled by a class I took before that fulfilled one of my major requirements?
yes
mhm
So like if my major is Human Biology, am I not allowed to pick FS in Community Health since it was already fulfilled by SOC 301 which was a class requirement for my major? Or can I pick it and is that not what u mean
FS should be in a field not related to your major, but if you wanted you can declare a minor and have it fulfilled immediately
