#Have the Trial and TF Interfaces Show Where Contact Is

I don't ever lead TFs or Trials b/c I do not know what zone has the Contact in it. Then, even if someone tells me what zone, I don't know how to find the contact once I get there.

I know y'all are up to a ton of projects, so this is not urgent. But! To add to our huge mountain of suggestions, if there were a way for it to tell us what zone then have a way to select the contact so it flashes nice big bright white or yellow on the map? Or perhaps just use the same "Teleport to Contact" feature you get in the "Find Contact" button? I'd host TFs and Trials like a lot. Not knowing where or how to do stuff is very embarrassing and intimidating to me, so I just put up caution tape then back away slowly from things like that ๐Ÿ˜„
ty for everything you do!!!

Normally you start teh TF by talking to the contact - this is for items started through the LFG system?

There are 4 of us; will the LFG queue let 4 people queue and not look for 8?

#

I don't know how this stuff works. lol It's not entirely intuitive, which is no one's fault. But I get intimidated real quick ๐Ÿ˜†

And I think a lot of folks are reticent to lead things for similar reasons, from what I can tell.

Oh yeah, ok. So a TF helper that you can use to find a TF, find the contact, find the level range and requirements, etc, etc.

I guess an alternative to this, which already exists in some form, would be to not even make you go to the contact at all. For example - Signature Story Arcs: these are essentially just task forces, but you don't actually have to go to the contact to start them. You can access Signature Story Arcs from the contact menu and start them from anywhere. The same functionality could theoretically be applied to normal TFs as well.

Oddly enough, the signature story arc contacts do appear on the map too, so they're functionally more user-friendly than TFs in pretty much every way.

What about a task force concierge contact you could call; some mayoral assistant that could ask you what level, etc you wanted then tell you where the city needed help? They would give you a task to gather up N friends and go talk to so-and-so.

Having some nice bonus rewards for leading teams, leagues, and tfs sounds interesting, now that we think of ideas...

oh that's a good idea too.

While I don't think anyone uses it, all of the Freedom Phalanx contacts are in Fort Trident and teleport you to the contact. The LFG window is also supposed to Teleport you to the contact when the minimum team requirements are filled... but i doubt anyone uses that either.

As soon as we have at least 4 on team? ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

That's what it is supposed to do

#

It's been a while since I dove into the LFG code, but that is what I remember.

It doesn't seem to be intuitive. I have been on Rebirth for 6 yrs and did not know you can tp to the contact you want for a TF. lol (But I am a perma noob too)

I have seen people use it before, but yeah it's not something that gets used often. I think mainly because people that start TFs tend to know where the contacts are, so they'll already be at the contact while forming and don't have a need to use the LFG queue to teleport there.

I believe everyone also needs to be in the same zone for it to work, so typically people would just gather in the correct zone to begin with and by the time everyone has joined, everyone is already there anyways and there's no need to use it. But if you don't know where the contact is, and nobody else on the team does either, I could see it being used.

The way the TUT/LFG menu works:

  1. Queue for an event (in your example, the chosen TF)
  2. Wait for enough other players to queue to meet the team size requirement
  3. Once the minimum is met, click the button to launch the event
  4. If a Trial - teleport into the instance
If a Task Force - teleport to the map for the contact. If already on said map, teleport to the contact.
  5. Start event.
#

This is all handled on a per-character basis. The group doesn't need to be together or even formed yet.

Simply queue as an individual with "open group" and the system will fill the slots itself.

If you are in a team already but don't have enough people, queue as open group and it will fill those other slots on a first-come first-serve basis.

Has Rebirth considered the possibility of allowing you to start a TF solo? With the exception of those that still mechanically require multiple people of course (with the simultaneous glowy clicks), since those would be impossible to complete solo.

The relevance here would be that you could solo queue and TP yourself to the contact before forming, without the need to have others use the queue, because we know it's unlikely that anyone else would be using it to begin with.

I know it's one of those things that doesn't necessarily align with the original intent, but it was also designed with a larger population in mind and the unfortunate truth is that sometimes it is hard to find the minimum people to run a TF, and there are definitely cases where people would still like to try with less than the minimum or even solo (I'm not going to pretend like I haven't used my other accounts to start a TF and solo it before).

Fair enough.
