Trains are cool, i admit it. But do you know what is cooler? Elevators which go sideways.
I think it would be really fun to have elevators go sideways too. This way we can use them for personal transport and because elevators makes their own "path", it would take away a lot of busy work of setting up.
To balance it, maybe upgraded ones need power now.

They will have to add some kinda machine (what is highly requested for over a year) to make tunnels for trains. If they dont, then the trains wont be much useful and u have to run them way above the surface in the sky to have the least amount of digging. Lets be honest it will looks silly. Running belts 200+ block height already looks bad, but running trains this height to avoid hills, and mountains is strait stupid.
For horizontal player transportation we already have escalators.

Thats true. BUT: If we could use elevators that goes sideways and find their way themself, you can use it for making holes through montains! Or the dev implement a "tunnel drilling machine"! based on the system elevators use ingame or the system used by these ore drilling machines!

TBH the idea of that is bad, not realistic at all. Instead of side ways digging elevator why not make a machine what make tunnels like what we have in real life and players made in minecraft as well... Trains are coming, so we need something for that purpose. Right now they announced the new "terraforming" system what i dislike at the highest lvl. Looks bad, works bad, and u still have to stay there. Nothing changed. I rather use bulk demolish mod and modify the drill speed and dig blocks in a split sec if i do not wanna use the select area feature of that mod. I think i did dig less then 1k block since i start using that mod, so i do not have to waste my time on this and can focus on playing the game.
