Currently there is zero reason besides aesthetics to build more than the minimum fracking tower size using 1 tower section. But it has a max of 5 tower sections.

How about making it so each tower section after the first makes the fracking process more efficient by reducing the fluid used by 12.5%? Especially since each tower section adds to the power consumption.

Having 2 tower section would reduce fluid usage by 12.5%
3 would reduce it by 25%
4 would reduce it by 37.5%
And having the max of 5 tower sections would mean the fracking process uses 50% of the default fluid.

I would be happy if a larger fracking tower just held more fluid so could go longer without refills

I might have a better idea: Every tower segment could increase the mining speed while slightly more than proportionally increase the fracking fluid usage. Should also simply remove the useless fracking fluid limit that currently exists.
For example:
Every extra tower segment could increase mining speed by 50% and fracking fluid usage by 75%. That way if you build them all you'd have triple the output at four times the cost.

This would actually make it a non-trivial choice

Well it worked before update 1. They just argued that since the research is unlimited, it would break at some point. We'd just have to make sure that point is not reached by the 4 fixed upgrades

The devs didn't argue it, players complained about it and wanted it changed because once mining effeciency hit around level 30, the output hit the 640 capacity of the tier 3 belts that were fastest at the time.

That is a good idea though. Bigger tower, increase output. Also gives reason to have a bigger tower. Devs could easily change the capacity of the rail carts in the machine.

UNlike the upgrades, there is a limit to the size of fracking tower.

Yea, still have the research to reduce fluid consumption, but the fixed tower size limits overall production to avoid the belt capacity issue. Even if each additional tower module added another 160 to miner output, it would only top out at 800 per min.

Buffing the Output of the Tower would make Vein Mining more attractive again. And they need that too be competetive with the Market . So more then +1 from me for more Output und less Oil in
