I can relate to what hes probably dealing with because I was in a relationship similar to this at 16 where she was all of the above, and probably even worse (threatening self harm, manipulative), once you're deep in you're sort of just bias towards the person no matter what they do and you let shit slide that you shouldn't which ends up hurting the people around you.
