i found a playermodel i quite like on the workshop called Sapphire Angel Miku but for some reason, anytime i am not in the air, the model turns completely dark. i assume it is some kind of issue with the lighting being treated as if the model is lower than it actually is or something like that. i found a post relating to something similar that had a solution included, and i extracted the addon to try and make the tweak of adding "$illumposition 0 0 45" to the QC file of the model, but i cant find that file and i'm not sure if i'm on the right track. if anyone has any idea how to solve this or has dealt with a similar issue before, please let me know! thanks in advance! (originally i posted this in the game issues forum but i realized maybe it fits better here)

I have a bit of a problem, I uncompressed a model, edited it and compressed it back in, the model itself works perfectly fine but for some reason while it's standing on the ground itself it's colors are aproximately 50% darker, I have no idea what the reason for that could even be, anyone have any ideas? Here are screenshots to show it.

QC is a file for compiling a model. You need to decompile the model, edit the QC, and compile it again. I don't know if you even understand what I'm talking about, but it might be better to write to the author of this broken model.

i can probably figure it out! thanks for the info!!

i feel like the author probably wont fix it but i guess ill leave a comment and then go about my own way trying to fix it

#

idk how to decompile a model but i have an idea of how to learn so i at least know the next step in trying to fix it and that im possibly(?) on the right track?

#

do you think that that specific field in the QC being incorrectly set would cause this issue? have you seen this type of lighting issue before with a playermodel?

It's easier for me to send a corrected model than to explain anything...
I'll just say that after decompiling in QC I found the line $illumposition -0.009 11.234 -4.722 which just spoils the position of the model's lighting point, I just removed it and compiled the model with a new name so that there would be no conflict with the addon.

In general, you can simply create a folder in the GarrysMod\garrysmod\addons\ folder, for example, mikufixed, and put the models + lua files from the archive there.

can you recommend some tutorials to help me get started? it would be cool to make a bodygroup option that would turn her into the dark version maybe
