Hello guys! I’m SMG7. My previous account was @lofty blade before I lost it, so this is me, but I’m not here to introduce myself so I’ll get onto it.

I’m planning on running a show like SMG4 on YouTube did, now, of course I have all my own original character concepts and stuff, and I just need to know how to model them and put them into GMod.

Now I do have Blender as it was recommended but I find it a bit too complicated for my skill level, and I was wondering if there was an easy way to do it.

Thanks for any help here because I have no idea what to do since I just got GMod last month and we’ve past the expected release date for the start of the show(we as in me and my friends and others that joined us in the past).

Ok…

#

Uh I do wanna know if it’s possible to find the code of GMod to take out an existing model and edit it to look different in Blender

#

Idk how to find the game code for any of my Steam games

not within gmod, no

I mean like a model made by someone in the workshop if there’s anyway to take one you have and edit it

so, the ragdolls in Source (Gmod) are compiled (converted) into a .mdl from multiple files
workshop .GMA's can be found in \SteamLibrary\steamapps\workshop\content\4000, and are named as the workshop ID you can copy from the page url

#

there are multiple tools you can use to extract these gma archives (like a .zip)

#

personally I use Crowbar

#

it's also a model decompiler, too (and packer, and uploader)

#

on the blender side, you'll need Blender Source Tools to be able to import .smd files from the decompile

Ok then

#

so basically

#

If I get this Crowbar thing, if I search up the file link of the model I want to edit, I can just get it into Blender from there?

Nothing I found was like easy enough or helpful

#

We shouldn’t assume people didn’t try Google because they’re asking a question
