#Can't get flexes to work properly

I have a simple icosphere model with a single shape key that scales the faces to 0. For some reason after compiling the model it gets all messed up. Requesting help as I am completely lost on this one

I think compilation merges vertices that are too close to each other, maybe this is the problem

is there a way to disable it?

nevermind, its not the vertices merging

its the stupid limit that makes it so vertices cant move more than 8 units
