no like behind the whole icon to give it a holographic effect

spare trail
#

scanlines, like this but less shitty because this was five minutes in paintnet

#

probably less intense too but that's the concept

This but less sharply defined lines and a bit less obvious/opaque

They're both thinner and not solid colors

#

They're a gradient

#

That's what gives the sharp contrast between the start and end of them

#

There is no gap between them

#

Here I've changed the coloring to make that more obvious

#

This is how it looks normally with the same zoom level

#

@boreal brook like this?

boreal brook
#

I think that looks quite nice

#

It gives a little extra visual interest to what might otherwise be a blue rectangle

#

Now it's a blue rectangle with scanlines

You certainly could have them slowly move downward

#

I'm not sure how that would feel in practice

#

If it's something you can change easily, it would be nice to see what difference it makes visually to put the scanlines in front of the text and icon vs behind them

#

I think I like that better, personally

#

Really makes you feel like you're looking at a shitty screen

tulip badger
#

It looks weird imo

boreal brook
#

Maybe even slower

#

Scanlines are one of those things that I feel like you gotta be careful with so you don't break the illusion

#

Because it's just gradients if you actually LOOK at it, but if you just take it all in together it looks like a nice effect
