One tutorial suggest placing your sky camera where the center of the map is, then placing full size replicas of scenery, before selecting both the camera and the scenery and shrinking it according to your camera's set scale.

thats smart, looking at how construct and flatgrass' skyboxes make you huge af
Oh, well the the idea of a 3d skybox was to shrink down scenery and upscale its hologram.
So it does make you look huge
exactly
now i understand
why the skyboxes are minimized
whilst the main area is perfect sized
Once you do this, you can move the "skybox" assembly wherever you want, since the projected scenery is relative to the camera, and assumes the camera's position is the world's origin.
im assuming its better to make some empty land instead of a hole to the void for the projections center
now i know
wuh
like theres this big empty space where the main spot is in the skyboxes
instead of a hole or something
Sorry I'm not following, do you have a screenshot?
no
but lme describe it
so the first thing you see in construct's skybox is probably the middle
its empty within the walls
only a flat ground
OH!
Okay, so the reason it's that way, is because that square cavity is where the player space is, as in, the real map.
possibly if youre not gonna go the hard way and make it perfect just go easy and fill up the space
which in terms of no leaks in the skybox ground from intended perspective is genius
If that hole wasn't there, then you might get some weird visual hologram spilling, since scenery will be in the same space as your playable map.
exactly
unless the skybox stretches there
so the reasonable solution is
dont try to optimize rensering there
just shove tne ground anyway
I kinda have a difficult chore, because my map is bumpy, with displacement maps. To create a skybox I might need to sew together a fake terrain extension, then shrink it.
So the bumps line up.
ye
what about the sizing
im kinda new to hammer++ yet alone the original hammer
i got the basic skills like entities and terrain
