Very neat idea, I love it

yeah im totally gonna copy this idea into my mapvote

#

you can set 4 preferences for the maps

#

default preference has a value of 0

#

it's just -1, 0, 1, 2

#

however you can set only one map with a value of 2

#

basically your top pick

#

rn summing them up and picking the one with the highest score as the winner seems to work well

that kind of sounds like first past the post with extra steps lol

#

it's closest to combined rated voting

With so many options available, you’re going to need a wider range of score options in order for it to not quickly devolve into FPTP

#

Like 1 thru 4 or 1 thru 5 for the positive scores

#

after some Playtesting it didnt seem to devolve into that so far

#

ppl seem to actually rate stuff

#

im open to tweaking it though, the way i have it rn is mainly because it's the most intuitive way i can think of

#

since the big limitation is like

#

everyone has to vote in 30 secs

#

expecting them to type in numbers and such is also out of the question

#

i would've preferred IRV if i could think of a good way to do that within the limitations of being a 30-sec mapvote

that'd make it too samey, people's preferences change even in the same session

#

and if only a subset of maps are shown each time, maybe add the option for a player to run a command to open the full map list to adjust all their preferences

#

but with this mapvote it feels like you have just enough time to vote at 12 options

#

tried 24 options for a bit and it basically always felt like nowhere near enough time at all
