Updated tutorial on how to get your own custom animation into SFM without having to use Maya. You can use any 3D programme you like as long as it can export to SMD. Search google to see if a plugin is available for your programme. There most likely is one.
Since valve have broken the Maya DMX plugin i thought it would be a ...
This shows how I can do the exact opposite of what I wanna do
still thanks tho
What I meant is I animate stuff in sfm, I export it, and then somehow make it useable for the model I animated on sfm for gmod.
Ah, that makes more sense.
I don’t know how to do that.
You might be able to extract animation data from sfm’s dmx format, but I’m not a programmer.
Garry's Mod only uses smd files to accept and compiling them to MDL files so I'm pretty sure you'll have to convert it to a smd file
That’s not what I meant. Sfm dmx stores some additional data about the sfm session as far as I’m aware. Idk, I don’t use sfm.
And gmod’s studiomdl can take dmx files perfectly fine, just not…sfm’s dmx format.
I don’t think.
Dmx is a container format kinda in the same vein as fbx is
Hmmm
Use blender for easy exportation for animations. You can export it already with SourceOps engine. Or the blender source tools add-on with dmx/smd doesn't matter
