I made it by scrapping the GMod wiki pages in NodeJS, I can release it if you need it
nodejs 💀
?
its ok if not used in production
I can sense you are a NodeJs hater, may I ask why?
many companies that used node in production suffered losses
one of the main companies that uses node is uber, it is completely unprofitable
also in companies like uber, netflix - there are almost daily leaks of user data.
I think this happens so often because of the high pace of development and low-skilled nodejs programmers - since the entry threshold is minimal, a typical nodejs programmers job consists of an npm install shit-package
Those companies are in losses not because nodejs, but you're not ready for that conversation
Still if you're using nodejs in a mega project globally utilized it's not going to be the best, but your filthy ass wouldn't know it because it's a homemade project
That's right, I personally don't like how many things in NodejS work. Damn, they even had to invent TypeScript so you can avoid drowning in runtime errors.
And the day that a language like Rust can offer the ecosystem that NodeJs has, making development fast and easy, with extensive support for a variety of functionalities, NodeJs will stop being used.
But until that day comes, companies and developers value more the time they save by using NodeJs than the 320 milliseconds that they could have save in a for loop if they used Rust
But a blind hate to a whole ecosystem because it is a “meme” wont get you very far, you don’t suffer the downsides of NodeJs and never will. Because the scale required for NodeJs to start being a problem is huge, go ask the big companies that actually use it like Nasa and Uber.
Being a developer involves knowing when to trade ease of use over other things
about of 320 milliseconds - shortterm savings on development leads to huge waste on new clusters at a distance, pay attention to uber - they have to spend millions of dollars on new servers
When technical debt hits, you sell
It's been a fun ride, so was a web scrapper made as personal project
Uber uses NodeJs as part of their stack, not for everything, and Uber has never blamed NodeJs for any waste of resources as far as I'm aware of. I don't even have memory of Uber saying that they are "spending millions" because of a specific technology.
So can point when/where Uber has said what you claim they said?
google, i read an article about this on some website a few years ago 🤷♂️
Brain dead take
C++ sucks because it's the leading cause of random ancient ass exploits
