Nope, eventually they'll work I'd expect so a fallback would be a waste of time imo
Spawning this prop in causes the game to crash when using physics jolt
models/props_junk/wood_crate001a_damaged.mdl
No, but I am working with Jorrit (create of Jolt) to implement needed features
Please try the kv-wiggleroom branch
Alright
That fixed the issue.
But when i tested that it improved the performance ca. 15% but not so good like in the vids ( spawned many bomb props and exploded it ) do i do something wrong? It was definitly better handled as before and even if it almost crashed the server was still alive ๐
vphysics dll?
wut?
ok i really didnt installed it....
i installed it correctly swapped branches but it reverted the changed
and after i reinstalled it halfed the performance XD ( worse )
we were testing bathtub full of cans
my stress test here ๐
with vanilla you can have double so many cans and it lags less
and yes i run debian have the newest glib etc.
When testing did you confirm that you have vjolt_ commands in console?
on a 4 core 4.7 ghz system yes
and yes 64 x branch
and i did everything the readmy said ๐
ok i dont have those those are serverside or ?
but i did installed it like the readme said
i replaced vphysics.so in bin/linux64/vphysics.so with the vphysics_jolt_static.so ( i renamed it to vphysics.so
i try to redo it again
If you dont have thoses commands serverside volt is not loaded.
/whereever you installed it.
ok i installed it on a dedicated server
if you run find vjolt you should see them
where on the commandline ?
there is only 1
(i tried to rename it again to the original name) same issue
no like... in console.
It's only built for 64bit, if your server is not 64 bit you wont be able to use it.
i use linuxgsm i use the 64 branch of steam but i cant verify if its running on the 64 version
oh branch is not defined on servers... fun
why the fuck is that a client only global.
lua_run print(jit.arch)
mf playing with IVP and blaming Jolt ๐
You need to be on x86-64 and start the server via the 64 bit srcds
ok now i upgraded my debian for the dependencies but and it loads again but vjolt_commands still dont work
and the server isnt available anymore xd
Sir, this is amazing. I applaud you. The physics enging needed rewriting for years imo, and I'm glad someone is finally putting something forward. ๐ ๐ ๐
So long, Havok!
How to install this
it says on the releases page
sadly it doesnt work on half of the time
for example on my fully updated gmodserver with debian 11 all needed packages etc perfect and 64x branch it "works" but it blocks the net channel so that no one can join sadly
i installed a fresh debian 11 ( like really the newest image i got from the official debian page ) with the newest page and working server without that .so and all dependencies are installed and correct to the version. No other packages installed just fresh install of a gmod server with that .so
๐
configuration issue in your *ss
(sorry)
lol imagine self-censoring the word "ass". Have fun figuring it out guess.
Literally not a thing. You are making this up
just ignore him bud, if he can't set it up properly, it's a skill issue
lmao its not made up
see pleas 5.104.107.61
oh wait
its not available
because of that .so
Tested this and really enjoyed how much better the physics felt
Hope to contribute at some point ๐
Once it gets stable, will be encouraging my clients to give it a test in production with 100's of players
Nice to hear sadly i cant reporduce it ๐
please stop posting, you bring nothing to the conversation with your silly responses now
New automatic GMod builds available here:
https://git.froggi.es/joshua/vphysics_jolt_gmod_builds
Sadly can't do it via the GitHub CI due to legal reasons, but I can provide it through my own CI
Current main is making its way through the CI now...
Should get updated whenever theres a new commit there within a little bit
Tada
simfphys is really buggy with vphysics/vjolt
noted
Is this on the workshop?
no, its a binary module you need to install directly to your game
no you need to replace your vphysics of the server
and then it works ( hopefully for you ๐ )
@tawdry otter can you kick him from the thread again
You just download the gmod one and put it in gmod folder.
you just download that your gmod uses either the 64 windows or 32 bit windows or for linux ONLY 64 BRANCH and extract the folder that it says it replaces something. OR you just put your vphysics.so in your gmod/bin/ and replace your vphysics ( if you do it in your local client it will only works for you ๐ )
If you can't figure it out from the basic install instructions, you shouldn't be trying
you do not need a video to teach you how to drag/drop and overwrite files, here is a very educational 3 seconds
https://cdn.hbn.gg/f/ShareX_hijyJ4Hofy.gif
yeah on windwos .dll
Look at the zip name that I downloaded? It's not hard
win32 for mainbranch, win64 for x86/chromium
Sharex is very useful
You overwrite/replace the contents as the instructions say
Reshade doesn't touch physics, try it and see
sorry if I'm being thick but how do I download the files to put into the Gmod directory? Idk how to use Github and can't find an obvious download link anywhere
Why doesnโt gmod run in 64 bit by default anyway?
And can we get Garry on board with this? Or someone that is deving gmod?
under Clone Code and Download Zip
Dude, I already removed you once, stop replying here if you're going to misinform people too. Cloning the git does not give you a dll. Download from the releases page like the instructions tell you and read the "Download" section. No wonder you repeat that doesn't work for you if you can't follow instructions, duh!
800 stars now? Holy crap
https://github.com/Joshua-Ashton/VPhysics-Jolt/releases/
https://github.com/Joshua-Ashton/VPhysics-Jolt#download
I just do it like all the other shitposters ๐ and my friend did it too but nope it crashes the server fully ๐ He followed all instructions carefully and still didnt worked ๐
Like all the other shitposters? OK.
just look in #lua-help you see there like 50% shitposter 25% trollers 25% Real Helper Devs
This is about you, again, not other people. Clearly you have no place here
What are you smoking rooki?
Ok, good to know that just the dude in HIS thread isnt allowed to discuss about HIS problem about the tool so good to hear
This discord needs a drug and alcohol test before joining
You've had plenty of chances to not shit up release threads, see other threads
wtf why did you ban him
Repeat behaviour, removed before, not that you need to know
i smell fagmin abuse there
its not like he idk
did something "terrible"
See you later too, timeout til tomorrow as you're his friend
bound to happen
russian people can't figure out how to install a fire little physics replacement and they get wild ๐ธ
200
- We did follow the instructuions
- You guys started shitting on us
You guys started this whole drama
Not us
Lul
Also we arent russian
Thatโs what a Russian would say
With an attitude like this, self induced, please stop derailing the thread
Guess who started it
It does not matter who started the thread, anyone can
Your attitude is the issue
And my issue is the people who shitted on us for asking questions
Unfortunately, Rooki started the attitude first, and in other release threads, I won't respond to you further
No he didnt
.
Banned for continuing drama, 3 days, discord mobile sucks
does this require players to also install volt clientside or does it do everything on the server
server
Wait so if I install on my server? Everyone else wonโt get lag?
It's replacement physics, it's able to handle way more at once (think filling a container with melons) than the older havok, it has a few quirks but they're being ironed out I'm sure.
If you install it on your server, you do not need to install it in your game (no requirement for players to install it)
Okay just to confirm, if I chuck this in my dedicated server, other players can experience the jolt engine and have a lag free experience?
Even if they donโt have jolt engine installed
I dunno about lag free, depends on your environment, but it'll perform way better than vphysics, which you can crash with a bathtub
Thatโs insane, I didnโt think it worked for servers
I thought the only way to see the effects is if you have it installed not the server
Normally that's the case for binaries (installed both ends), but this is special
Any reason as to why gmod isnโt running on 64 bit by default?
@tawdry otter ๐ฅบ ๐๐ป๐๐ป
grrr
We neeeed an update
Could this also support 32-bit systems
I don't see why not
Hey, someone how to know how I can make it works for a linux32 serverside? I already tried to put it into the bin/linux32/ and put all 9 files and replace them but doesnโt seems to work in game
VJolt-GMod has quite improved in v0.20
Probably enough that I could use it daily in place of the default VPhys
(I didn't even know that a newer version came out, that's why I'm only talking about it now)
