Having tried reading the steam VNs, I think the kanji had been by far the hardest thing about it. The series uses a surprising number of intermediate and advanced level vocabulary that wouldn't be seen often in other titles. You may have an easier time on a DS though since many kanji are written out in kana bc they'd be hard to read on a small lowres screen.

okay here's my review for "I hear the sunspots"
||personally, there wasnt anything really insane or likeable for me, probably cuz of my standards having read doukyuusei, or maybe it was due to the fact that the manga didnt feel like a story, it felt more like, a report of what happened between kohei and taichi, and so i felt emotions lacking in the first part
the second part was of course, like you said, the best part but even then i felt like the author didnt really know how to progress the story or solve the "emotions" of the characters.
Having said that, I'd still like to say it was an enjoyable experience and felt similar and different to silent voice at the same time. Taichi was my fav char in the entire series, but kohei felt like a stuck up bum the entire series, especially near the ending where he tells taichi he wants to distance himself.
in conclusion: while i liked this series a lot, i feel like there was much to add and much to remove and so itll be a 6/10 for me||

In all seriousness, I actually really love Steins gate because I think it's one of the greatest anime of all time, if not the greatest anime of all time. I could probably sit here and talk about it all day. But there's a lot of things about Steins gate that's completely unrealistic.
