Is there a Dev Environment?

Hi all, sorry if this is a common question but I can’t seem to find an answer to it.

But what’s the correct way to have a dev environment for Appwrite? To my knowledge, there’s no branching and all I was able to find online was to have different projects for each environment and have custom migration scripts.

Has there been any changes to this? I just want to learn the correct way to go about it and would appreciate any input, thank you.

You can have 2 projects, then migrate or use the CLI and then deploy.

For testing functions locally, you can use the CLI. There's not any a direct way to have both a Dev and prod environment

Thanks for the info. So is it just:

1. Two projects (dev & prod).
2. Make changes on dev project.
3. Use CLI to deploy changes to prod project?

Also when we use the CLI does that sync everything like functions and all?

Yes, but be careful as you could overwrite collections, losing all of it's data

Just to clarify, I meant to say if using the CLI syncs everything, including functions, if that wasn’t clear.
