They will be standing on the road but if you come near them, they will run away.
There is a very tiny chance that they don't run away on time and you hit them, the result of this is the instant end of the race, which gives no reward, but gives an achievement instead.

I think it's a bad idea because the simple fact of letting you run over someone or understanding that even though it wasn't shown would raise the game's Pegi. Of course, the Devs are not very interested in that, because perhaps the parents who see the Pegi of the game would not buy it for their child (as an example). You get my point, right?

Yeah... in a way, but WRC7 did the same thing and it's not like, all bloody everywhere, it just stops the race and gets you on your last checkpoint
