#How about interrogations?

you are no enforcer, you a normalo like everyone else
yea just another normal dude who can break and enter to handcuff people at will
That would probably need to only apply to someone in handcuffs. If you just stop someone on the street and start grilling them for info, they can and will just walk or run away. People in interrogations are usually unable to leave the room and are forced to be there. So if this game gets an interrogation system (which I doubt it would because of its complexity) it should only be applicable to people that are handcuffed and unable to run away.
exactly my thought, something i realize is some people here think your no different to a police detective when your just a civilian detective, sure there is lore (if you do Dead of Night) where your an ex-police detective but your still just a civilian
right now citizens are more likely to answer if handcuffed
That doesn't stop you from being able to handcuff someone and using that to interrogate them better than if you're just talking to them on the street.
I don't think the game needs a complex interrogation system but it would be nice to be able to ask people more or different questions while handcuffed, like what their passcode is or something.
it could work if he had for example high social score, in which case he could have the powers of an enforcer to interrogate
So people cant lie to civilian detective??
So I do Private Investigations and one thing that is difficult is compelling somebody to give a statement. Some people will because that's who they are or because they have to do to legal or contractual requirements.
An example for insurance is they have a contract and so when someone's making a claim and it has potential fraud indicators the insurance company can compel them to give a statement that and then be picked apart to review its validity. This only works however because they have a right to refuse payment if that person doesn't cooperate.
However if I canvas my neighborhood looking for something your average citizen doesn't have to cooperate.
I do agree though that I would like to have the option to inquire further into people's days. I think it would be fun to suspect a person ask them what they did that day and compare it to physical evidence
If they don't want to answer always going the route of well only a "guilty" person wouldn't want help. That might not always work but maybe you could increase that chance with social credit or sync disk
it would add to the roleplay aspect. i could totally see someone becoming a vigilante detective type of person. not everyone who wants to bring justice to the streets will think it can be done peacefully.
I mean does it really matter if the people wielding a baseball bat is a civillian or not?
