how about just employ actual voice actors?
With all of the lines of dialogue + the ones they'll add in the future, and the costs of voiceactors, not to mention that it'd fit better with the randomly generated worlds as well as the flexibility and ease of adding new lines, especially making it easier for Modders if they implement it in-engine, AI would likely be the better choice and the fact of how many voice actors they'd need if they don't want everyone to have the same voice just pitched differently.
While actual Voice Actors would be good too and I wouldn't complain, AI is the better choice all things considered, or just not having any voices at all.
While I wouldn't support it (though I still likely wouldn't care as long as it fits and makes sense for the game) for triple-a games, this is a game made by an indie studio.
then if they can't afford voice actors then don't get it done then?
seems like a pretty simple case
I'm not sure I see how this game would be really improved with voiced lines anyway, but I'm definitely not a fan of the current AI tech models out there today using training data they weren't explicitly given rights to use.
Also what even is this suggestion's formatting? Is it a suggestion?
i am not a fan of 'don't use an available feature if you can't employ voice actors', if the alternative was good enough then the only thing left is the training data stuff and that's all just preference based
atm though it's pretty bad, while cool, it feels like it doesn't fit into sod at all, would be better to have a game built around it where it's the focus
How about just able to talk to ai customly like no pre-question list and straight up can type anything to ask the npc and the voice acting stuff just wait later than sooner until they add a VA or when the AI voice become more real and affordable.
that's definitely cool, but again, it would be super out of place in a game not made for this type of thing from the get go
iirc at the moment all the ai models often feed up completely irrelevent or incorrect info
or end up making long answers that feel like they are poor machine translations from other languages
you can tweak it here and there, but you can't make enough tweaks to make it consistent enough to fit into any game seamlessly
I dunno just make it more realistic since the AI still new but their revolution is faster and wider along with time i guess we just wait.
tbh when they said AI i imagined like microsoft sam or something lmfao
