Sorta simple, think it'd be cool to have a stress and exhaustion stat that kinda puts more pressure on the player to finish a case. Basically, as the day goes on you become exhausted just like you would irl and need to sleep. and as for stress, the more time you spend on a case the more it would tick up and you can manage through things like smoking or drinking alcohol or potentially more healthy ways of dealing with it as well
#Stress and Exhaustion mechanic

I was just about to suggest this. I think an exhaustion mechanic is already in the game. It's just hard countered by caffeine (AFAIK).
However, a stress mechanic would be really cool. Like a combo of taking damage, staying up late and constantly working on cases. I'd love to see things like cinema's, socializing, watching TV at home, drinking booze, smoking, etc. Doesn't have to be complicated.
Watching movies/TV is simple, just gives a passive increase while in view of the screen. Sitting could also reduce stress, so both would be a good stress reliever.
For socializing, you could add small talk. Talking about the weather, sports, food, etc. You could make a friend, get their and call them on the phone. Maybe they might invite you over and you could "spend the night". This would take a lot time and maybe your "friends" would require regular attention or they might even cause you stress.
Smoking and drinking could be an alternative to socializing, but would come with other side effects. They relieve stress quickly, but cause negative health effects and cause addiction.
These are just ideas, of course they could even be simpler than this. I'm not saying this needs to turn into "the sims". I'm just saying it would be interesting if your character was more than just a crime solving robot.
I don't think there's a sleep mechanic because it's common to see detectives not really taking breaks and constantly working but it would be useful to have the bed.
Personally, I never get the stinky mechanic unless it's from me going in B2 or being out for very long so having other effects is useful.
If there's well rested then there should be tired/exhausted that does opposite of what well rested does. Say tired restricts maximum health and minimizes health regen while exhausted also slows your movement.
Coffee temporary adds the movement speed but can't do anything about the rest.
There’s already an exhaustion mechanic, but it’s reduced by coffee and kola so you’ll never encounter it if you keep the detective focused
I’d like to see more receipts and lockpicks in garbage cans, so we have more of a reason to dig through them and get stinky
I support this. Maybe make this it’s own thread?
I don't drink coffee or kola so I've never seen this mechanic
But the receipts thing is interesting. So far I've had no reason to go through sales records on foodie places, even when it's for research on someone who "loves coffee"
Interesting, well it's something I learned from another player. Maybe it was a thing before and was recently turned off? I've turned off all positive buffs to see if my character get's exhausted.
Not from what I've had, I don't really get stinky or exhausted. Whenever I get thirsty I drink from the water coolers and whenever I'm hungry I eat from the diner/vending.
Found no reason to spend money on coffee/kola
