murdering is pretty easy, so not sure I wanted people to farm that
plus I'd need a system to allow your own case to work, it doesn't work right off the bat unfortunately
if I can think of a fun and good way to implement it, I will
try to pin the murder on someone else and if you can't the game ends

though setting someone up seems complicated, like how would you even do that
You can point to random person and a weapon that matches description, but that would be pretty boring if it just worked on anyone

if its an active case that you're actually on then you can just turn them in anyways
if its the murderer before a case, it gets force reassigned to a new murderer
cool, was worried it might bug the game but that makes sense
Luckily someone mentioned that earlier and I remembered to test and fix the game logic.
Who knows what else breaks that I have no idea about
I haven't tested in the long run, so no idea if anything funky happens after a lot of killing

So what I'm hearing is I can save someone from life in prison by murdering all their targets first

You can set a population multiplier low so that theres only a few people to kill
and then see what happens
it may have code that prevents it from selecting the player at all
Does the player have to be the one to kill people or will setting turrets to all targets eventually do it?
it only kills while they're stunned
so if the turret stops shooting when they're down it wont kill

stunning an NPC triggers for some reason code that resets their health to max
so I'd have to make a complicated system to try and make it count overall damage in a period of time
or write code that changes what value it stuns or something complicated
would the turret get a murder case on it? or like a building manager? what does its murderer get counted as

Cool! Now we lack permadeath for player and player also being able to be the target (the latter might already be a thing, eh). And doing away with the lame gov db (Game Balance Options mod only goes so far ...).
Falling through the floor would become super annoying, though.
YESSS finally. One question though, will killing a NPC also have them registered in-game as dead, just like when someone is murdered and a case is started?

its the game's method and somewhere in it is a NRE, which tells me practically nothing
ill reinstall the mod and the mod loader aswell as the game
and tell you if it works then
if it still errors on that save in particular you can send it to me

it shouldn't be anything on your end, but I have no idea
ill try finding and bashing someone with a hammer to see if thats the issue
I'm guessing its some weird circumstance that causes it though, and I won't be able to figure it out unless I recreate it

first run bepinex needs to do its thing
plus you need to actually try to kill someone for it to log it

i think it should be harder to kill characters
i accidentally killed a victim's wife and had to also eliminate the enforcer who rushed inside to fight me
don't you have to beat them while they're unconscious a lot
i hit someone who was awake with a knife, they died instantly
i hit someone unconscious once with a knife, they died too
Bladed weapons have a tendency to kill on downing. That was apparently an unintended feature, but I like it. Sword meta / knife meta is riskier because of it
bladed weapons have higher damage numbers
so I imagine its bleeding over and killing
or something to that effect
I initially adjusted every weapon to require 2x as much as it did to knockout, but thrown items for instance took way too long to kill
I may balance bladed weapons in particular or, I may just make it a config setting
I think it is completely right balance- and realism/immersion-wise to have bladed weapons be more lethal than blunt damage. But for best of both worlds a config file would be the way I think

its currently on there, but it uses bepinex version pre1 which isnt on there just yet

I love this mod but I'm going to hold off on using it until it's improved on, either through adding new citizens to replace the slain ones over time, consequences for committing murders (even worse ones if they are an enforcer), etc.
I just did a whoopsie myself. It wasn't meant to end like this, an alarm spilled out to the street and they just kept getting up. Conveniently, one of them had a sword
Oh and I've definitely also killed the partner or roommate of whoever I'm actually supposed to track down. They kept getting in my way and pulling the alarm

Now we just need an AI detective that does pick up your case and tries to piece together the murder.

I started to main menu after installing bepinex first yes, though i can't be sure whether BepInEx was actually working. I am going to try again with a fresh install

This is what I got after running with BepInEx for the first time on this install, I have not tried Lethal Action again yet

dropped the .dll in the plugins folder and im going to start a small sandbox and test
maybe the issue was i was trying to use the mod while playing the dead of night tutorial
i started a new sandbox and it seemed to work just fine

Actually gonna push this back until update releases. I don't think there will magically be mono, but if there is I want to do all of my development and stuff all at once.

It is possible don't spam the attack button
If you mean a non letal it is not possible right now with the mod as far as I know

Askin cuz for some reason my first and only hit with the baton to the head kills them. It was hilarious the first two or three times 'cause I thought I hit them really well but it's always like that instead of a funny possibility lmao
(I do love doing justice by hand but still want to baton guards non-lethally)
im on 33.19 and the mod just doesnt load
it only currently works on pre1 bepinex, other than that if its not loading at all its likely some bepinex issue

Do you have the log file? Since you are using 6.0Pre1 you've likely installed BepInEx in the ...steam/steamapps/common/Shadows of Doubt/BepInEx/ You should find the logs there.

I'm not sure what happened here but it looks like you went through thunderstore. If you did go through thunderstore it'll have loaded BepInEx BE instead of 6.0pre1, which is required by this mod. I do not think you can use this mod in conjunction with thunderstore's BepInEx, unless there is some workaround i'm not aware of.

Any specific reason it got deprecated?
il2cpp is a pain to deal with
and theres multiple bad bugs that I really don't want to say its fine and stable
(but im not going to fix those in il2cpp environment because it suuuucks)

The shooting people aspect seems beyond the simple scope of the mod unfortunately, IMO. I look forward to the day this gets updated or something similar is made. This mod was great.
If you'll scroll up you'll see the mod last worked on the non-current thunderstore version of bepin. Meaning you'll have to go find that if you want to see if the mod still works.
I wish I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure it sounds like Igniz isn't planning on updating this anytime soon on account of il2cpp.
