My initial instinct here is that with an ever expanding map, eventually an empire would be too far away to trade with

Like, the trading hub of the map is vulpsEmpire…. But it’s 7 irl hours by horse

Fudge that I’ll trade with ZipEmpire instead ‘cos they’re 5 minutes in the other direction

Suddenly zip becomes a local hub and grows, and then the same thing happens to another empire

Another thing to add: structurally not being able to beat competition isn't fun anyway. The player base in the area of the dominating empire prob would die out (as they would sell their stuff and move if possible).

Same here and when I heard they didint like the idea of pvp it worried me because in my opinion they didint give adequate solutions to counteract the fact that pvp won’t be in the game

The link is that their is less challenges all challenges can be prepared for or be regulated meaning it will be easier
If pvp did exsist similar to rust there would be a lot more risk involved not saying bitcraft should be like rust just saying progression is more regulated by the fact that pvp doesn’t exist

Like if I’m in a mmo and there’s only pve I know I need to be a certain level to beat a boss or I need a certain amount of damage to win, in pvp you can’t prepare for what your opponent might do or have you have to adapt making people learn and in my opinion play better this is also known as “player mastery” as talked about in the article

Hmm maybe but I think wether or not they make it pvp or pve based around balancing they have to make sure everyone has a fair chance to challenge eachother in some way or at least compete in some way because like you said they would just become more powerful or nothing would change

Yeh, open-world PVP always comes with the toxicity of rust

Mutually agreed war gives options to pve-only empires

yes true but I think rust has its good parts in it like the challenges people face and the group efforts in my opinion obviously you will have toxicity in everything but there are ways to make sure you're not setting up the player base for toxicity
