Thats a good question. A lot of players don't like the night and tend to fast sleep through it but thats not really possible if everyone is sharing one world. One popular solution is making the nights shorter than the days, but that gets a little annoying if there are certain resources you can only gather at night like fireflies or something. It might be configurable where if you choose to opt in night will appear as if it were day. That seems to be the best solution and is what I would like.

If there are day/night cycles, I wonder if there will be a way to skip to day or night

In the trailer there appears to be a day/night cycle but that doesn't really mean anything, trailers aren't very reliable when it comes to gameplay
Personally, as long as the night time isn't super dark I think it would be fine

My most awaited game has super dark nights and its a feature we players who wait for that game want. So to me dark nights where you need to have light sources would be great and add to immersion. But I think nights should be shorter than days. Im not sure about the specific lenghts tbh but I think that depends on the game itself..But since this game isnt that hardcore maybe dark nights dont fit for the attended playerbase.
