#World generation,perspective and more
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)

hi

pog

as ive seen from the trailer/website images
the game could have an isometric view
Hope theres unique mountain generation, scale wise that would be cool
sorta hate minecraft style small biomes
well the world is made out of hexagon blocks
imma be a hermit
so i guess thats how they manage to make the world infinite
did they say the world was going to be infinite?
they'll have to use a chunking system
yeah chunking
most definitely
yeah, it keeps generating as people join
i bet they will need to have a beefy server for this
since all the players will be on the same world
hope that doesn't spread people too thin
I think they said they’re using a kind of server that deals really well with this
that was also a worry i had
Idk how that works though
thats pretty good
it's running off of unity so the optimization hopefully won't be that bad
hopefully
maybe they have a system that can calculate the amount of people per 10 hexagons or something and if it goes over a limit they'll start generating new land to spawn peple
yep
They said they’re building their own server code in the FAQ, so I hope they know what they’re doing
If they do, the servers could potentially run really well
and im glad they have inhouse built code and things
wonder if theres npcs in cities, it looked to be in the trailer but I wonder how'd that fit with the rest of the empire system
hm
I think there would be npcs
well it is an mmoRPG so probably
But more like to make the cities not feel completely empty
but its a proceduraly generated
i wonder
feel like the game would work better if the dropped the rpg part
Does anyone know how the building will work? We only really saw tents in the trailer so idk
seems like a word kinda slapped on without meaning
maybe they're depending on the players to make a central city
hm
doubt it
there are dungeons aswell
it looks like ruins are a major thing
so i guess thats where most of the quests would be
cause it seems there are npc's but other then that we were shown a group of people making a community
since they could generate that in the world
entrances like in Path of exile, that lead to another instance
yeah tbh i also agree that the rpg element from what we've seen was just kinda tacked on
and the map most likely won't be fully procedurally generated like mc but more like a mix of generation and placed areas
like in rust
tilesets
yeah that makes alot of sense
Idk they said it’s gonna be added onto infinitely so maybe it is 100% procedural
one thing I'm hoping for is proper river generation
yeah same
with actual flow directions and navigability
the only problem i see happening is things like bug fixing and moderation
but damn it feels weird with large hexagons
especially because its a mmorpg
yeah moderation would be a big issue
seems like a small team
well they're backed up by some interesting people
they should have some mod applications for the server
but we're talking about an infinitely generating world instead of one set world with multiple servers with a team moderating each
infinitely generating world = infinite problems
basically
they would probably make a system to automoderate that
automoderate the usernames,nation/town names, chats and so on
yeah but then they also run into the problem of creating a bot or multiple and or a system that is able to sort, identify and neutralise from thousands if not millions of texts and inputs at a time
I feel like they should have resources get scarcer the further from the main world you get possibly'
they have a long way to go i'm just curious if they'll be able to handle it and come out on top, considering similar games like no man sky have been ruined by hype and unachievable promises
something to desensitize someone from just going out into the infinite void and forcing the server to load a ton of useless terrain
hm true
but to still have large bits of just wilderness between population centers
but then again alot of people will go the further they can
but then what happens when the center resources have been run dry
they respawn after a set time?
hmm
but then we run into another problem that rust has
which is?
the whole just hitting random rocks in a field is really immersion breaking
true tbh
well thats how resources work
well i dont think it will be like that
thats what trade is for
if someone blocks a spot, just find another one
how do you trade if you have nothing?
fish
^
like in the old days
like irl 😳
ahhaha
so in essence to actually play the game you have to do another layer of grinding to trade on a free market where the monopoly are free to change the price as they will
do you not see the issue here
wait we cant send links here right?
not sure
time to cheez the system
okay so
I feel like you're thinking of this game like it's a minecraft factions server, not everyone should have max level loot and armor, farming, and barter and trade is the fun of the game
wish the devs were in here I wanna talk to em
ahahaha
but its an RPG the goal is to get the best loot to take down stronger bosses to get better loot, thats the gameplay loop of an RPG
i dont think they would tell that much ,since most of the things are "Subject to change"

yeeeeeeeah
as for the buildings
@rose silo we won't know until we see what direction they take it, more rpg and loot grinding, or more city builder / sandbox based where it's the journey thats the point
im kind of scared for that
this could be the whole sim thing
where you just give the building ur items and it builds itself
but it has the same sign infront
haha
so it kinda feels we would have to upgrade things
ugh hope not
honestly the trailer and the mmorpg tag don't seem to line up
yeah
well it can line up
seems more like a Sapiens type game than an rpg
yeah
it feels like an albion online but cuter and not instance based
which I prefer
it kinda reminds me of two games combined, journey and sky: children of light
yeah same
im totally fine with how the world and camera work
the building system, maybe not too excited about that
instead of an rpg game more of an exploration game with elements of survival tacked on
i'm curious how much freedom we'll have with it
hm same
yeah was hoping for empire based architecture styles
also looking through the rest of the trailer the rocks seem to be covered in moss and other shit, they don't look like resource spawns
the trailer kinda doesnt match the images from the website
oh and character customisation
the game looks stunning from the trailer
yeah pre rendered though
yeah
mmm
backed by supercell
AHahha
it doesnt mean it will be a pay to win
different dev team
it just means they backed it up
the comapany is just backing them
yeah
NOW I KNOW WHY THEY ASKED IF YOU PLAYED CLASH OF CLANS IN THE SURVEY
xd
I think this is a very wait and see
GOD DAMNIT
LOL THJEY ASKED IF YOU PLAYED LIKE 80 OTHER GAMES TOO
still waiting for how they are going to monetize though
i mean fair enough, they would probably want people who play that genre of game instead of a full FPS gremlin who will call it boring and bad after 30 minutes
thats my main concern
probably because distant terrain isn't fully generated for the player
theres no way that you can make a mountain that detailed out of hexagons
very probable
you know what i feel like we wont even see the game from that perspective
did they not mean hexagonal as in how the chunks are shaped?
so the range wouldnt even matter
they haven't actually said anything on the hexagons
well the images on the website
we just know from observation of the imagery on the site
you can see that the world is made out of the hexagons
even the builds are made to fit a 1x1 hex
you should check the development of this game
may give you some idea of what they're doing here
OH damn
yep
that makes sense too
but i feel like it would eat alot of resources
especially server resources
have you heard of nanites
what do u mean?
wdym
yeah im confused
in the trailer there are couple types of land
made out of hexagons
smooth
and Voxel-y
the first couple of seconds, you can see the voxel terrain on the mountain
the fishing and the village scene have hexagons
the desert scene has smooth terrain
oh and yeah the climbing scene has hexagons
pillars
just might have limitations
yeah
general chat is a fucking disaster lmao

however the description says its not a voxal game
ahahhaha
you never know
lmao general chat wants so much, bro they don't owe you anythiiiiing
it's their game we haven't even given them any money
the bar is set very high
well heres to hoping we get in the alpha
yeeeee
wonder if they take activity on the server into account when accepting people lmao
